Titans 10 - 49ers 3: Second thread

    49ers_logo_medium vs.  Th_titans_icon_medium

Well then, that first thread certainly wasn't too impressive.  We sit here in the second quarter and the Titans are rolling pretty well.  Of course, it is still only the first half, so let's hope the 49ers can get their act together and start making plays.  The team has done a solid job against Chris Johnson but has been burned twice by Vince Young.  Let's hope they can get things going.

GO NINERS!

deciding to Pass.

Maybe a run would have been predictable? No? Yea, it would have been, Probably no gain against 10 in the box and nothing on this drive.

But we had a 49 yard pass and now a TD.

Except when it's not

Biggest complain against Raye is being predictable. So calling a pass on a run down or vice-versa is often being smart.

We know Alex is a dumb-ass in most offenses, but in the Norv Turner digit system

is one offense that is not so complex where he can’t “get it”. This is why Jimmy Raye was brought in, to continue the work in the one offense that Alex can “get” and execute.

Try putting any spread QB in most pro-set offenses and they fail miserably.

by jviet on Nov 8, 2009 2:39 PM PST up reply actions

yeah

but that doesn’t mean the spread isn’t complex. It means it’s different. Seriously, go do some research. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Thanks to roger
I've never been happier to have Crabs

by bondslegend on Nov 8, 2009 2:40 PM PST up reply actions

No, you don't know what you're talking about

if the spread was a legit NFL offense then everyone would be using it. That is why none are really being drafted, and why Tebow is being graded at a 2nd to third round slot.

Spread QB’s don’t know anything else besides the shotgun, they are terrible at reads from under center, they lack the footwork for consistent 3 and 5 step drops, and defenses will scheme and show looks that don’t really exist to induce the QB to throw and ending up in INT’s

Even Joe Montana crapped all over the spread…it’s on the web so look it up dingle-nuts.

by jviet on Nov 8, 2009 2:44 PM PST up reply actions

No reason to be an asshole about it

like I said, the spread is different. It’s tailored to different talents, but to call it “simple” is stupid. It’s not simple, and the QBs who run it aren’t “stupid”. Alex is very smart, actually, and has succeeded pretty well when given the chance, especially considering the amount of new offenses he’s had to learn.

Rich Gannon actually played QB in the NFL, you didn’t. I’d listen to him.

Meh

he’s using Davis properly, getting the ball to gore, IDK. I’m a big raye basher, but I thought that was a decent half. Only thing I would have done differently is run on that 2nd and 2

Lots of people panicking at the beginning of the game

Don’t really see many of ’em around right now though.

What I learned from the first half: Alex Smith looks good. Jimmy Raye is still an idiot

I thought Raye called an OK game

Better than the past few games

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

by SportsChicken on Nov 8, 2009 2:39 PM PST up reply actions

I think he's called a pretty good game so far

Mixing it up with different formations and keeping it fairly unpredictable.

by smileyman on Nov 8, 2009 2:40 PM PST up reply actions

I kind of think they should run the ball a little more

Frank Gore is kicking ass

lol how ironic is that

jimmy raye should be running more. The guy doesn’t seem to be able to get the feel of a game down very well.

Also, Rich Gannon is a moron. His key to the game for Tennessee: Get back to their winning ways. In other words, in order to win the game, the Titans must win the game.

Be Nice

I don’t think Gannon cares enough for the Titans to bother finding a key to the game.

by bignerd on Nov 8, 2009 2:44 PM PST up reply actions

We'll find out immediately

We get the 2nd half KO. Let’s add to the lead and remind Tennessee of their losing ways.

On the number of Bay Area shots during the broadcast? If you had above 24.5 than things are looking great.

Dont jinx this. This ia a close football game, and the Niners are playing well going into the half. Now its time for my halftimes dump. see you guys in the next thread.

Eliminate the offensive turnovers and 49ers have full control of the game.

Last TD was a big help, but the Titans cannot win without turnovers.

You see Whisenhunt use “we didn’t let them off the hook” at the end of his press conference? Amusing he remembered to throw that out there.
