Team Sport?
I'm going out on a limb here....and probably going to break it off. I have read alot of Alex Smith this and Alex Smith that. It is a team sport folks. Was Alex on Defense? Was Alex on Special Teams? Alex did have touchdowns, interceptions and fumbles. First downs, Third downs, Fourth downs. He lead the team and failed to get the win? Did Alex lose in games he never played in yes. It is a team sport folks.
Where is the Team in the rest of this? It's a team sport. I think if you look at the whole team including the coaches we have a good team. Not a great one, but a good team. To put the last 4 losses on Alex or the QB position is ludacris. We will show up next game and we need to get the job done on all levels. Fans too.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

I understand where you are coming from...
However, when the QB turns the ball over 4 times in a game that was lost by only 7 points… It is pretty easy to say that the QB was the most at fault for the loss.

Of course
Of course, it ain’t all the QB’s fault. Of course, it’s a team sport. Is this a good team? A few weeks ago, I thought so. But now the losses are piling up, I’ve had to revise my opinion. Our record is now 2-1 vs. teams that suck and 1-4 vs. good teams (counting the Texans, who may be no better than mediocre). To me, that is not the record of a good team.
But we have many of the elements. The defense is very solid. It would be great to have a fearsome outside pass rusher, but we can get along without that. But the offense has to do its job by maintaining ball control and putting some scores up. Turnovers and lots of three-and-outs will wear down the defense (especially when it has to chase the likes of Chris Johnson around the field).
On offense, we have some established weapons and some with potential. It seems to me that what’s lacking is a reliable QB and, perhaps more important, a solid line. We’ve seen what Gore can do when he has a hole to run through, as well as the futility of trying to run through a hole that isn’t there (if that makes sense).
As for special teams, can someone explain why the team dumped Allen Rossum? The return game has been terrible ever since and may well have cost us a game or two.
