A different feeling this year
Over the past 7 years, around this time in December, the vibe has been, "Well if we can finish strong, we look good for next year!" Well I got tired of it this year. I know it might be a outside shot of making the playoffs(this isn't a post on how we can make it because there is already a great post about that topic) but there's a different feeling for 49er fans all across the Bay and the rest of the world. I haven't been this excited about 49er football in a while, because the chance to go to the playoffs is just what is keeping me up as I take these last finals toward winter break. I can feel as if we'll beat the Eagles(will be hard) and that the Saints keep being perfect. Imagine that heading into Christmas, knowing the 49ers are only 1 game back of the wildcard. My christmas wishlist would then be 1. 49ers don't blow the last 2 easy games. 2) Cowboys (or Giants) lose at least once. 3) And for everyone to have a safe and merry christmas and happy new year. Hopefully we enter the new year, better yet Decade, on the verge of making the playoffs.

I think it's real shot at the Wildcard
Essentially have to win a playoff game Sunday against the Eagles but the odds of the Cowboys losing this week is pretty substantial. The 49ers would just need one loss from the Falcons and Giants in the last three games plus one more collapse loss against the Cowboys. Chances are Philly would want to beat the Cowboys in Week 17 instead of giving them the game and facing them next week in the playoffs.
actually, this is weird but you can look it up, although we lose to the falcons if the two of us tie, if its a 3 way tie with us, the giants and the falcons we win because the conference record and not the head to head matters.
however, unless the giants screw up (which is known to happen) they should win out and will end up with a better record than us. They play washington, carolina and minnesota, who will probably not be playing farve.

It is a different feeling this year.
Besides the Atlanta game, this team has had a chance to win every game they’ve been in. I was at the game monday night and the place was absolutely rockin, a playoff atmosphere for sure. It was my first niners home game, and my cousin who lives in the bay told me he had’nt seen Candlestick go that wild since we beat the cowboys in the nfc championship back in 94. After six or seven years of crap we fans finally have something to be excited about. I can’t tell you how many times I turned the game off in disgust over the last decade, but it hasn’t happened yet this year.
I agree
The feeling this year is very different from last year. We have stayed in very close games with all but one of the teams we played, including the undefeated colts and the 2 loss vikings! I voted for next year. I’m holding out hope that they will make the playoffs don’t get me wrong, but I hate being upset over and over with too high of expectations. I hope they do it, but I am not going to get my hopes up, not at least until we beat Philly. If that happens I think my attitude will change completely.
Beating Philly
will be the biggest win in 49er land since maybe that epic playoff game against the Giants in 02-03. Philly is a SB contender, McNabb has killed the 49ers and they are at home as heavy favorites. They have to have a pass rush this weekend to get to McNabb, who is more mobile than Warner and just as accurate but their running game is mediocre and I don’t think Westbrook is 100% recovered from his concussion as well.
Also, kick the ball away from DeSean Jackson during punts and always have a safety deep on him as a WR; Jackson is a home run threat but not so much a possession receiver.
Win the inning.
