Blizzard of Oz....

Not to fool anyone with the title, but this is NOT about the Oz man...I just wanted to provide an update from the East coast about weather conditions.  I am sitting here, looking out my window at about 10:30 am (eastern time), and I see around 6-8" of snow at least.  Also to note, it is STILL coming down and is supposed to continue into the night.  Now I live about 2 hours west of Philly, so I can assume their conditions are about the same.  I haven't heard anything yet about what this means for the game, but if you happen to come across some info (or if I hear anything) please feel free to post here to keep us updated.  I am also concerned with the fact that I heard the Bears were having problems getting out of Chicago, and the Ravens/Bears game was moved from 1pm to 4pm...has anyone heard about any Niners travel problems?  All in all, I just hope they make it to Philly safely, and kick some Eagles behinds!.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

Saw some video on ESPN of Lincoln Financial Field

and it is definitely blanketed in snow and reports say it’s going to continue throughout the day. I’m sitting in about 8 inches expecting at least 5-6 more by tonight. It’s moving up from here (VA) to the north so it looks like Philly is in for at least a foot by the time all is said and done.

I also heard about the Bears having travel problems and the game time begin moved up, but on ESPN they said the 49ers left early in preparation for the snow, so I believe they are already in Philly but I am not positive.

so the team is definitely already in Philly

here is a link to a photo from Takeo Spikes twitter page

This is what I have to look forward to tomorrow on the field

I find this quite funny

I live just west of Toronto, Canada and we have barely any snow on the ground, but yet anywhere north, south, east, and west of seem to be getting tons of snow. O well best of luck to anyone trying to get to the game tomorrow, it’s bound to be tough.

The field

will more than likely be cleared. They will scrape it all off the field. If the wind picks up though and it’s snowing during the game, there may not be much passing which worls out in favor for the Niners.

Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?

by Drew Kerr on Dec 19, 2009 12:01 PM PST reply actions

Not really

Eagles have a better OL and rushing team than we do. The only advantage we have is a slightly better run defense.

Eagles

They have more rushing yards a game…however, their main rusher doesn’t even have a 100 game and his yards per attempt are considerably lower than Gore’s…. so that is debatable. Plus, the Niners rank 5th overall against the run and the Eagles 10th giving up 101.5 yards a game. So there is all that to consider as well

Not this year

This year the Eagles have turned into a passing team.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

Snow in DC

I live in DC and I am heading up to the game tomorrow. We already have about 1 foot of snow here and it is still coming down.

I had a question about the game tomorrow though. It is known that west coast teams don’t play as well on the east coast because of the time difference. Do you think that a later start will help the 49ers?

by twolfe2 on Dec 19, 2009 1:08 PM PST reply actions

I think it could

I think both factors could possibly help the Niners,

It must hurt WC teams

Because Goodell doesn’t want to change it. Can’t hurt those eastern teams; they’re friends with the commish.

WC teams are a small minority

There are really only 4 teams that are on PST

Who happen to represent 8 SB titles

10 if you include Denver on Mountain time and in the AFC West. Plus it’s his job to represent the entire league.
