Ticking towards the end of the "Aughts"
I'm not a big fan of the Aughts as the name for this decade, but for now that'll have to do. Since we're ticking down the days of this first decade of the 21st century, I thought it seemed like a good idea to start putting out lists of top events, names, etc of the decade that was for the 49ers. I'll be kicking this off at the end of the season since story ideas get a little tougher to come by at that point.
In the meantime, I wanted to open this thread up to get some ideas from everybody who visits the site. We'll be doing the ten best draft choices. We'll do some kind of all-decade team. We'll look at the best players, the best games, the best seasons. Given the many lowpoints we've had this decade, we'll definitely look at things like the ten worst draft choices, the worst players, the worst games, and so forth.
So throw out ideas you have and we'll work on putting together the appropriate lists.

To be honest Fooch, after the 2002 season I rather forget this decade.

Mooch fired...
Terry Donahue (the man who drafted Mike Rumph in the first round) becomes GM, and Dennis Erickson head coach. The San Francisco 49ers still haven’t recovered from that debacle.
I was sooo pissed when they fired Mooch
wanted to strangle the ownership. I knew it wasn’t going to end well.
It would be interesting to take a look at all our head coaches and offensive coordinators and see what they’re doing now.
Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.
Worst
Hires & Fires? Our hiring of Donahue. Our hiring of Erickson. San Diego’s firing of Schottenheimer, thus taking Norv from us.
Draft picks: I don’t recall every season but taking Rashaun Woods (thanks Donahue) was the worst I recall by far. Also, Jeff Chandler. He cost the Niners a playoff appearance in 2003 and lasted two seasons.
Cuts: Garcia. The Erickson/Donahue transition to Nolan would’ve been more bearable and had a few more wins had Jeff been here. He also could’ve been a mentor to Alex.
Basicaly, bring on the new decade.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
I’ve been working on a decade worst list, kinda mimicking a Pro Bowl ballot. Some additional ideas to the ballot were worst coach, worst GM, least valuable player, worst executive (coach or GM) and if possible putting together the voted on team and running two Madden simulations against the 2004 Patriots and 2008 Lions.
Of course could mirror the concepts for the best’s of the decade too.
Another idea is compiling the 49ers record and list of accomplishments for the decade but beware it could cause a few to want to jump off a bridge, including me.
So I was thinking about who our WRs of the decade would have to be
And would it be someone other than TO and Battle?
WRs
Probably…Although Tai Streets would get some love. In his 5 seasons with the 49ers, Streets had 168 catches for 2008 yards and 13 TDs. In 7 seasons with the 49ers, Battle has 178 catches for 2,150 yards and 11 TDs. Interesting…and kind of sad.

I'd like to see
top 10 heart break games….games that just left a bad taste in your mouth for the rest of the season.
