Golden Nuggets: The good, the bad and the ugly from yesterday

Ninjames remains Internet-less, so I'm back for another day's worth of the Nuggets.  Rather than ruminate on another tough loss, if you really wanna get fired up, you can go check out Darnell Dockett's Twitter page.  I guess 49ers fans were tweeting some smack talk to Dockett and he bounced back with a vengeance yesterday.  While the smack talk is rather tiring, I will say that one 49ers fan went too far in saying, "i hope your plane crashes and i'll piss on your grave."  And the guy is proud of how he pissed people off with that tweet.  People certainly love to talk tough when they can hide behind their computer.  That's definitely one drawback of the Internet.

Politics start now

The coach has to say certain things “great qb quote” because it is deemed politically correct. Now we all know that we have to build that oline and get some players for defense. But the A. Smith project has to be over. The two games where he had to prove his worth, nothing shown. Now to really draft a qb and do not have a solid line, just make backups get pt. So let smith play the last two games. I looking for to the guy we give the keys to this offense.

Let's get the division!

Since when has Sing been politicly correct?

Sing has said Alex is still our QB, and if you don’t believe him you are crazy. The one thing that you can count on is that Singletery is telling you the truth. Thank god, go Alex!!!

The Alex Smith project needs a chance for once

Alex Smith has never been given a chance. That’s pretty sad for a guy who’s been on the team for 5 years. Thrown under the bus from day 1. He did have a bad game against Philly. The OL helped greatly in making it bad, but it was a bad game. While I will not compare his bad game to great QBs who had bad game, I will note that he has had his best season of his career. It is something to build on, not throw away.

“Never gave him a chance? How many chances should we give him?”

How about a second year with the same receivers and OC? How about that kind of chance? Give him developed chemistry and continuity for once in his career? He’s had 5 rookie seasons. Let’s give him a sophomore season for a change. THEN we’ll see if he’s the future or not.

(south park) REALLY?

It’s just not worth the trouble. Given a 2nd chance and we suck at 3rd downs. 5 yrs on/off again, nothing changed. Change is difficult, but is necessary. No qb get this many shots. I’m excited about Davis or a rookie. Like I said in other post, Smith does not give off an awesome factor. Remember, he did even win starting job in preseason (twice). So expect two things FA QB or a rookie qb b/n 1st or 2nd round.

Let's get the division!

Reality of "09, then next April and August

Without any claim that Hill is a long term solution, will any of you Niner nuts please admit that after Houston, had Hill remained the starter, the Niners might still be a playoff contender?
We all realize Hill was saddled with a horrific offensive plan, i.e. to run on first and second down. You-all know Hill was never given the open offense initiated after he was yanked.
My guess is the Niner offensive squad knows that Hill has “it” and that Alex doesn’t.
So where do we go? I suggest – Trade or cut Smith, get top tier backup QB from another team, draft a QB in 2nd or 3rd round, and let those two new guys duke it out with Davis and Hill next August.
