NFL Network to re-air "The Catch" in its entirety
On Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24 at 8:00 PM ET, with an encore at 10:00 PM PT, NFL Network will televise for the first time since its original airing the 1981 NFC Championship Game between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. While the 49ers have had plenty of historic moments, this game really put them on the map in the Bill Walsh era.
In a matchup of teams with the best regular-season records in the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers hosted the Dallas Cowboys in the 1981 NFC Championship Game on January 10, 1982. In one of the most iconic plays in NFL history, San Francisco receiver Dwight Clark caught the game winning six-yard scoring pass from Joe Montana with 51 seconds remaining as the 49ers won 28-27. It was the sixth and final lead change in this back-and-forth game.
This NFL Classic Games telecast features the complete CBS broadcast with announcers Vin Scully and Hank Stram calling the action along with all of the network's original graphics.
I'll make sure and re-post this a couple times in case people miss this post, but make sure and set your DVRs. I think I'll be setting this on "Save until I delete" status. I'll also be posting a game thread for the game, followed by a recap that night or the next morning, since we'll be getting the game in its entirety. That might seem kind of lame to some people, but I actually think it'll be a lot of fun.

I think
This re-air is the same one I have in my 49ers History DVD set I bought. The one I have does have the original broadcast… not sure if it was the radio or TV one.
Giving you all the 49ers info you need at the San Francisco 49ers Examiner
That's my site. Check it out!
And if you're one of the 250 million...
who don’t have the NFL network because the NFL and their cable company can’t agree to the size of the flags at the negotiating table… we’ll just miss out on the fun.
TV
Just updated it. It features Vin Scully and Hank Stram doing the CBS broadcast.

Never seen the game
I’ve seen NFL Films tape of the SB game with the Bengals. My family made a tape of the 49ers beat down of the Miami Dolphins that I probably watched 50 times, this game will be a first.
one of my happiest days ever
it truly did put us on the national stage. let’s just hope it isn’t too long before we’re back.
Don't get anything like that here in the UK
This game was before NFL was shown in the UK and have read so much about it, I would love to see it. I would be most grateful to anyone who would be prepared to tape it on to a DVD and ship it to me. I will reimburse all costs incurred.
Would be just fantastic to see this game in its entirety, beating the Cowboys nothing better. If there is anybody please let me know.

Here’s something that most people don’t know. The 49ers turned the ball over 6 times during that game. If memory serves, Montana threw three interceptions and three touchdowns.
Scully was amazing in this broadcast
From the opening all the way through the fans storming the field. The TV broadcast of this is all classic, from the future HOF players and coaches to the broadcast booth.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
That link above...
Is the last three minutes of that football game as called by Scully for CBS Sports. It’s incredible to watch.
I've got the entire game on DVD
so this is a rare instance where I’m actually ok with not having NFLN.
Alex Smith may have been the #1 overall pick but he still can’t tell why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Who cares about the past
The NFL ownership wants to console us 49ers fans that have been getting the stick for the 7 seasons by reminding us of the past glory. We need WINNERS NOW!! F*** the past.

Not sure I even want to watch it. The memories are too special too mess with. Although, all I remember is Montana doing the Smith roll out to the right and Dwight’s black -gloved hands going up and closing over the ball.
Lol, The memories probably aren’t even that accurate, but they are mine.
BTW, that’s damn interesting Scully called that. I never knew.
If Bochy coached the Warriors Bengie Molina would start every game at PG.

He used to be one of the main CBS announcers
Interesting though that he and Stram did the NFC title game for CBS but Summerall and Madden did the SB for CBS. You’d never see that now.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
Just something silly....
but I think it would be cool if the original commercials were shown as well, for nostalgic purposes
This is the original TV broadcast..
…if you say you have this game on DVD, either you have the NFL Films production (which is vastly inferior) or you have a bootleg.
