Titans-Chargers: Christmas Night Football Thread
Hopefully everybody had a great Christmas day and got a few good presents to enjoy in the coming year. Now that we're into Christmas afternoon/evening, it's time to get back to football. Tonight we get the Chargers and the Titans. A Chargers win clinches a first round bye (although they also clinch with New England and Cincinnati losses). Tennessee is tied with five other teams one game back of Baltimore and Denver for a wildcard spot. Needless to say, the Titans desperately need a win.
This should make for an especially interesting battle with the Titans 5-2 at home and the Chargers 6-1 on the road. Here's another one that blows my mind. Philip Rivers took over as starter for the Chargers in 2006. While I've always found Rivers to be a whiny, petulant little child, I won't deny his work in December, combined with the work of the rest of his team. Since Rivers took over as starter in 2006, the Chargers are 17-0 in December. That's right, no losses in December. Rivers December numbers during that time: 299/497, 3,921 yards, 31/11 TD/INT, 96.7 QB rating.
The Titans opened as a 3 point favorite, but the line has dropped a point to 2. Given those crazy numbers for the Chargers in December, is it worth throwing a few bucks on the Chargers tonight? I know the previous seasons are independent performances, but it's still something worth considering.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.
The contrast between the announcing crew on tonight's game
and that of the “The Catch” is amazing.

Ok any team but a bias toward the 9ers
2005 Choose Aaron Rodgers. (Don’t get me wrong I am willing to have Smith at QB for next year),
2006 I’ll take that draft..for good and bad..like it to be better but ok
2007 – PWilly, Joe Staley, Jason Hill (would have liked to have gotten him lower), Ray McDonald, Tarrell Brown
2008 Chrs Johson, D. Jackson then Chilo if he’s available and if not then someone else witht he 3rd pick
2009 Michael Crabree, Glenn Coffee
That’s only a change in QB and RB and WR. Interesting. Those were the two sleepers to a degree. Also it shows we don’t have a terribly sucky team. Just a few things to get.
I know that’s a huge overstatement, but nonetheless there are sleepers and there is everyone at every position

yea, there are huge sleepers everywhere in the draft, we can always look back and say “damn wish we should have gotten him” but in the end, you never really know what you have until he plays in a game
saying you would get CJ
is a lie
we had frank gore… no way would we have thought of drafting another RB in round 1! (at least not our retard FO)
DREAM DRAFT:
1a (12). Trade down to ~20 and draft Taylor Mays. Get the team's 2nd rounder
1b. Trade down to ~23 and draft Anthony Davis. Get the team's 2nd rounder
2a. Best CB available
2Cs. Trade up. Either package the 2 for the #25-26 overall or package one with a third rounder to move into the top 5 in the 2nd round.
3. BPA
4. Jordan Shipley. Maybe even 3rd round.
5-7. BPA

No Post Game Thread?
Hahaha…
Fans can accuse him of being whiny, but they sure can’t accuse him of not being a gamer. The more and more I see this guy play, the more and more I like him. This is a funny comparison, but he reminds me so much of that Kevin Martin guy from the Kings. Both guys have such ugly deliveries, but they’re both oh so effective. In watching tonight’s game, it still surprises me as to how strong and accurate his many throws can be. It’s got that extra zip to it, something that Alice Smith doesn’t have, but that’s another story for another time. I hope Smith delivers this week against an awful Lions’ defense (at least that’s the case on paper).
A few other things:
I came across a poll on NFL.com earlier today that asked who is the best RB in the game today, and I was shocked to learn that Chris Johnson was the leading vote-getter. No love for All Day Adrian Peterson.
Vince Young is terribly inconsistent, which really reminds me of Smith. Both players tease you with their talent, and that’s about all they do, with the only difference being that VY has actually won a few games for the Titans with both his arms and legs.
Darren Sproles. Could he be the one to take over for LT? Or better yet, should he be the one to take over? His career, thus far, really seems to mirror that of Michael Turner’s. Not sure of his contract with the team, but Sproles might be a star if on another team. I remember seeing him play in a preseason game against the 49ers a couple years ago, when LT was still in his prime and Turner was still with the team, and I remember giving a lot of credit to the Chargers front office for knowing how to draft good running backs. Well, so far so good for Sproles. I think he just needs a chance. He’s only 26, right around the same age when Turner went to Atlanta, and he looks like a baller out there. Fast, quick cuts, and he doesn’t go down easy.

He's not an every down back
Any team putting the money out there like he is, is in for a treat.
True knowledge is knowing you know, nothing!!
"I seen the ball was behind me and I can't go out like that"- MCraptree #15
Niners trade up in 2010 draft!! (pleeeeease)
?
Phillip RIvers’ biggest strength is his accuracy.
His arm is not very strong but he is deadly accurate on deep balls (he puts just the right amount of air on them).
I actually think that Alex Smith’s arm isn’t much weaker than Rivers’ (the only problem is that Alex can’t throw on the run).
Chris Johnson is a threat to take it to the house on every down, Adrian Peterson has been ineffective recently.
Although the Titans O-line is much better than the Vikings…
Darren Sproles’ career may mirror Michael Turner’s but they are completely different players.
Sproles goes down very easily, as long as the defensive players take good angles and wrap up correctly.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.
