49ers 20 - Lions 3: RB Frank Gore surpasses 1,000 yards for fourth straight season

PrintCongratulations are in order for running back Frank Gore as he surpassed 1,000 yards for the fourth straight season. He is the only running back in 49ers history to do that. The run came in the third quarter with 1:47 to go. The 49ers had 2nd and goal from just inside the Lions 6. The run was a basic dive play up the middle out of the I-formation. Gore got down to about the 1 inch line as his knee made contact with the ground just before he passed the goal line.
Gore continues his march through the 49ers record books. There is still a quarter to play and Frank Gore stands 92 yards behind Garrison Hearst for 4th all-time among 49ers running backs. The 49ers lead 20-3 and will be looking to burn time off the clock, meaning Gore should get some more carries before this thing is through.
Congratulations to Frank Gore on another big achievement.

You have to run a multidimensional offense...
You can’t just run on every single freaking down. Or they will stuff the box and just focus on Gore.
First half...
almost all passing. Second half almost all running. That’s in no way, no shape and no form of balance of offense.

don’t stare down routes, have fast delivery’s, can make pre-snap reads, and don’t telegraph with their eyes into batted balls.

It didn’t help and was certainly the most noticeable play, but there were a lot of reasons the 49ers lost that game. Gore deserves a lot of blame, but the team yacked that one up in so many ways.
