I actually could see both these things happening
In the last 10 years no safety has gone higher than 6. The teams drafting before us all have desperate needs at other spots. Our Carolina spot will be in the top 10—probably 8th or 9th. Browns might not draft Clausen #1 but they’ll get a QB #1. There aren’t any good ones available in FA, and they desperately need one there. Raiders could use Berry, but Mays is exactly the kind of player that Davis likes to get.

Unless it’s one of the ONLY positions a team needs to upgrade, a FS does not provide very good value in the top 10.
And if you're drafting in the top 10,
you probably have more than one need. All I can say is thank you Jake Delhomme.

If this played out I would be supper happy Berry, then Bulaga, then the second round Hughes nice!!!

And what truly blows about this, is that even if the Panthers do finish 5-11, that actually may be the 9th selection in the draft. There are that many poor teams with worse records. Yikes!
Here’s hoping the Eric Berry pick comes true, but the 13th overall pick I can wait to hope for. I’m hoping the 49ers are drafting in the mid-to-late 20s with their original first rounder. :D

But I don’t think Clausen goes first, and I don’t think Mallet goes in the top 10, not even to the Raiders.
