Week 16 NFL Power Rankings and the 49ers
Once again, Pro Football Talk has a comment in their power rankings that caught my attention. I'm not sure of the intent of it, so interpret as you wish. Feel free to post what your interpretation of the comment is:
Mike Singletary can't be on the hot seat because no one in the organization has the guts to fire him.
Thoughts? Also, Vic Carucci apparently doesn't watch the Seahawks or the Packers. The Seahawks lost 48-10 at Green Bay and he bumped the Seahawks UP from 28 to 24. Really?
ESPN - #21 (22) - The 49ers can become the first team since the 2006 Panthers and 2006 Packers to miss the playoffs with a 5-1 division record.
- Arizona - #6 (6)
- Seattle - #26 (24)
- St. Louis - #32 (32)
The Big Lead - #21 (22) - Cripes, the Lions turned it over six times and the Niners still only won by two touchdowns? Ol’ bug eyes needs to get up in that ass.
- Arizona -#8 (8)
- Seattle - #25 (27)
- St. Louis - #32 (32)
Fox Sports - #20 (18) - Here is a team that's transforming, as Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary continues to put his stamp on the Niners. No, they're not a playoff team just yet. But a win this week against the league's worst team would snap their current franchise-worst streak of six consecutive losing seasons.
- Arizona - #9 (11)
- Seattle - #29 (27)
- St. Louis - #32 (32)
CBS Sports - #21 (21) - Did Alex Smith earn a starting job next season? Right now, I'd have to say yes.

Florio and Crew like to be witty and risque. They’re referring to the intensity and confidence that Singletary has about him. Obviously nobody is really afraid of him though he does command more respect than some coaches might.
"Vernon is going to be a great tight end one day, but he's got to put the whole package together." - Thanks Sing for echoing this.
I tend to be the type to invite trouble
I kinda see it as Florio slamming the front office (which I would say they’re deserving at times) and that if they had guts they would and should fire him. Personally I don’ t know this guy, but I don’t think I’d like him. And heaven forbid he’d be related to me. I have several relatives with that last name!
Florio
his reader’s generally blast him in the comments section. They are usually one of the first to know things though, which is why I subscribe to their tweets.

I think he is just trying to generate a "buzz" about who he is which works.
I DO however, wonder what boywonder will do in a couple years if Sing is struggling. Let’s say the team goes 3-13 next year. Is York going to have the balls to step up to Sing and fire him. I could totally see York going on an extended vacation, and texting Sing that he is fired. LOL
Happy new year ...
… to all my NN friends. Let me know if you want me to tell you what the new decade is like – I’ll see it fully eight hours before you PT guys. Second thoughts, I’ll be way past posting here in a few hours ;) Have a good one, chums, and hope 2010 is a great one for all of us personally and for the Niners.
"This could be another Very Special Team" ... Superbowl winning Niners lineman Dan Audick ...
Actually..
I think it’s more on the reluctance of the Yorks not wanting to fire staff, which is well known here in Bay Area media.
I think they are snakebit after firing Mooch and crashing and burning afterwards.
Well, we're waiting....
It's the kind of thing writers say when they are trying make themselves look knowledgeable.
“Look at me, I have inside sources and inside info others can only dream about. Aren’t I important!”
