Bowl Games Gameday Thread (Part 2): December 31st, 2009

I hope you all enjoyed the first three games... there were some good plays made by most of the prospects in all three. We will now take a look in to the last two games of the day. The first out of the two will be the Insight Bowl which NFL Network will be broadcasting and the second will be The Chik-Fil-A Bowl hosted by ESPN.

The Insight Bowl will feature The (6-6, 3-5) Minnesota Golden Gophers against The (6-6, 3-5) Iowa State Cyclones. The Gophers finished the season with a .500 record and watched their dam float downstream with a 3-5 conference record. The Cyclones spun there way back to .500 as well. Both teams will vigorously try to pop up one game above those even records.

The Chik-Fil-A Bowl will feature The # 11 ranked Virgina Tech Hoakies against The Tennessee Volunteers. The Hoakies finished 2nd in the ACC-Coastal Division with a (9-3, 6-2) record while The Volunteers finished 2nd in the SEC with a record of (7-5, 4-4).

Below the jump, we will zero in on some of the key players and their stats in '09.

Eric Berry

I say we give up one of our first rounders and a second rounder to trade up to get Mr. Berry

Oh, and don't re-direct me to the Offseason Thread

This thread involves Eric Berry, so I’ll talk about it all I want ;)

by mountaindew77 on Dec 31, 2009 4:19 PM PST up reply actions

If you'd read the offseason thread

you would know that it will take more than a 1st and 2nd to trade up

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

I'm not in offseason mode yet

So I stay away from it.. So what’s the concensus on what it would take to trade up?

by mountaindew77 on Dec 31, 2009 4:29 PM PST up reply actions

Two first rounders

or a 1st and 2nd this year and a 2nd next year.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

insight bowl

there’s some pretty good hitting going on here. i don’t think they like each other much

Berry

does he seem to be shying away from the play at times? Too much on the line for him to be flying to the ball or what?

"Vernon is going to be a great tight end one day, but he's got to put the whole package together." - Thanks Sing for echoing this.

by Tre9er on Dec 31, 2009 5:38 PM PST reply actions

I dunno

something seems off. He’s not flying to the ball, he’s not shedding tacklers and making plays.

If I was him I’d hate to get injured (see McGahee) and lose out on millions because of it. Dropping a couple of spots because of a poor bowl game is much better than dropping a whole round because of a serious injury.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

That was some really impressive open field running

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

The strength of schedule man.
I sure hope it wasn’t…….

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

The Corinne Brown part was really funny

The rest? Not so much. The dude tries to be funny but it mostly falls flat.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

by smileyman on Dec 31, 2009 6:27 PM PST up reply actions

I don't care if he's funny or not.

The strength of schedule man better not be from Niners Nation.

Given how we’ve been discussing this website recently (and someone complained that the draft order was wrong) I am inclined to believe that SOS-man also posts here.

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

by chikmagnet_565 on Dec 31, 2009 6:33 PM PST up reply actions

That email doesn't seem Drew's style anyway

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

by smileyman on Dec 31, 2009 6:42 PM PST up reply actions

It seemed VERY familiar to me.

I was just trying to knock on Drew because he’s the “draft guy” (I don’t really think it was him).
But I get the feeling I’ve read similar comments somewhere around here.

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

by chikmagnet_565 on Dec 31, 2009 7:32 PM PST up reply actions

Definitely was not me

Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?

by Drew K on Jan 1, 2010 8:21 AM PST up reply actions

Good to know

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.
