List Of Recent Mock Drafts. And Of Course Opinions, Opinions.

Walter Camp Football  12/3/09    Link

1. S- Eric Berry, Tennessee

1. OT- Brian Bulaga, Iowa

2. LB- Jerry Hughes, Texas Christian

3. CB- Myron Lewis, Vanderbilt

With the exception of the Bulaga pick i really like this draft.  Amazing that they think Eric Berry will fall to the 9th pick. But as they said San Francisco would have lucked into that pick because of how inept the top 8 are in terms of the draft.

Fantasy Football Toolbox   12/1/09 Link

1. CB- Joe Haden, Florida

1. LB- Rolando Mcclain,  Alabama

Not too sure about the second 1st round pick.  We already have Patrick Willis so why go after Mcclain especially  with Mckillop on the roster? But they did bring up a good point in regards to teams not being able to game plan with two star linebackers on the inside.  Joe Haden is going to be an absolute stud.

NFL Draft King   12/4/09         Link

1. DT- Terrence Cody, Alabama

1. OT- Trent Williams, Oklahoma

By far one of the worse mock drafts in regards to the 49ers.  We have no reason to spend a top 10 pick on the NT position.  Franklin will be back with us in 2010 no matter what,  be it via a contract extension or the franchise tag.  Also I am not a big fan of Williams and would rather go the F/A route in terms of tackle.

Draft Ace  12/3/09   Link

1. CB- Joe Haden, Florida

1. OT- Charles Brown, USC

Of course i would be extremely happy if San Francisco took Haden,  as i said he is going to be an absolute beast.  Though i am against the T position in this draft i do like Brown better then Williams.

Real GM Football  12/5/09    Link

1. QB- Sam Bradford,  Oklahoma

2. G- Jon Asamoah, Illinois

3. RB- Evan Royster,  Penn State

This draft doesn't even have the 49ers selecting for Carolina in the 1st round.  Instead they eliminated that pick all together.  Besides taking Bradford they obviously lack knowledge regarding football.  Just had to post this because of their absolute stupidity.

NFL Draft Countdown  11/16/09   Link

1. S- Taylor Mays, USC

1. OL- Trent Williams, Oklahoma

I don't see the 49ers selecting Mays with this early in the 1st round,  his stock is dropping so much in the last month or so.  But i won't blame the site as it was posted about 2 weeks ago.  I could see us trading down and selecting Mays in the late teens or early 20's or selecting him with our 1st round pick depending where that is slotted.  Again i don't like the selection of Williams.

New NFL Draft   11/30/09      Link        4 rounds

1. OT- Trent Williams, Oaklahoma

1. S- Earl Thomas, Texas

2. DT- Brian Price,  UCLA

3.DE/LB- Ricky Sapp, Clemson

4. DE- Rahim Alem,  LSU

I absolutely hate the 1st round selections.  Why take the 6th rated safety (at best) in the 1st round.  We aren't oakland are we?  After that i love the selection of Sapp in the 3rd.  Overall a below average draft to be nice

NFL Draft Dog   12/1/09       Link

1. CB- Joe Haden, Florida

1. OT- Brian Bulaga,  Iowa

See my opinions on these two above.  But i do believe that Bulaga is a better pro prospect then Williams

NFL Draft Site   11/30/09     Link

1. S- Eric Berry,  Tennessee

1. OT- Trent Williams,  Oklahoma

2. LB- Sergio Kindle,  Texas

3. DE- Jermaine Cunningham,  Florida

4. QB- Dan Lefevour,  Central Michigan

5. T- Will Baker,  Virginia

6. RB- Keith Tosten,  Oklahoma State

7. QB- Rusty Smith,  Florida Atlantic

Even with taking two QB's and two T's i do like this draft a lot.  Berry,  Kindle and Cunningham are all going to be very good NFL players and Lefevour is the type of QB prospect we could use.  Not the early round type.

And now for my very own 7 round 2010 San Francisco 49ers Mock Draft.  Yes that is right a full 7 round mock draft.  Ridicule me if you want but i am going to do it.  This mock includes two compensatory selections (5th and 6th round) for the losses of Donald Strickland and Ronald Fields.  I am also going to predict us trading down from Carolina's slot to later in the 1st round while picking up another 2nd rounder.

1. CB- Joe Haden,  Florida

1. LB- Jerry Hughes,  Texas Christian

2. WR- Golden Tate,  Notre Dame

2. DE- George Selvie,  South Florida

3. G- Mike Pouncey,  Florida

4. T- Sam Young, Notre Dame

5. QB- Max Hall,  BYU

5. LB- Reggie Carter,  UCLA

6. FB- Rashawn Jackson,  Virginia

6. SS- Justin Woodall,  Alabama

7. QB- Juice Williams,  Illinois

Tell me what you think.  I am also interested about whose mock draft they like the best.  Obviously any with Eric Berry goes to the top of my list.  Some of these "experts" have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.  Regarding my mock draft.  Some are best case scenarios,  such as Golden Tate falling to the 2nd round and Mike Pouncey's stock not rising as we get closer to the draft.  But these are their current rankings and under that are available with the picks we have in each round

Why on earth would they take a WR in the 2nd round?

It’s not enough to have Crabtree, Morgan, Hill, and Vernon Davis?

They call their best player "Kung Fu Panda" and they complain that people aren’t taking them or the game seriously enough? -Nick

Tate Would

Also act as a return man for the 49ers, something they desperately need. I was torn between him and Best but decided to go his route instead. Vernon Davis is a TE so that pretty much cancels itself out. And i wonder if anyone believe either Morgan or Hill are true #2 WR’s in the NFL. Either way they could use an electric return man and a #3.

I dont want Tate or Best

Tate doesn’t have break away speed and Best has had 2 concusions…

No thanks to both.

If you are looking solely for a return guy, I can name about 5 better options than those guys.

"Tate doesn’t have break away speed and Best has had 2 concusions…"

that’s what "experts said about…crabtree, hakeem nicks, mario manningham, and desean jackson was too short..just to name a few of recent. these guys are just elecertifying and they’re already showing it early in there games. i like tate for sure, but add dan lefevour. and i didnt look at the rest of your draft.

Nicks and Crabtree don't have break away speed

If you are drafting for a return man, wouldn’t you want that guy to be fast enough to take it to the house and not be caught from behind? Btw, none of those guys you mentioned return kicks that I am aware of. A Desean Jackson type of guy is what we need. Tate is not an upgrade (as I said below) over Josh Morgan or Jason Hill.

And yes, I have watched him play plenty. Every Sunday in fact on NBC (Notre Dames channel)

Because Hill and Morgan

aren’t stud WRs. They’ve shown flashes of being really good but they sure aren’t there yet. A stud WR opposite Crabtree would be awesome.

I'm up for Golden Tate in Round 2

But only if Berry’s gone before the Niners pick, and if you can guarantee me that Selvie is there in Round 3.

Jason Hill is turning the corner!

Your picks
1. CB- Joe Haden, Florida

1. LB- Jerry Hughes, Texas Christian

I like both these picks, though I do think there’s a chance that Berry falls to us. If he does we grab him instead of Haden. Hughes will be great for us on the outside.

2. WR- Golden Tate, Notre Dame

2. DE- George Selvie, South Florida

I don’t mind the the Golden Tate selection. A good WR opposite Crabtree would be great.
I don’t think we need a DE and I"m not sure why you think we’re going to get 2 picks in the second round and 2 in the 6th.

3. G- Mike Pouncey, Florida

4. T- Sam Young, Notre Dame

Unlike you I have no problem drafting a tackle and/or guard earlier than this. The selection in FA is going to be somewhat limited and probably pretty expensive.

5. QB- Max Hall, BYU

5. LB- Reggie Carter, UCLA

6. FB- Rashawn Jackson, Virginia

6. SS- Justin Woodall, Alabama

7. QB- Juice Williams, Illinois

Not sure why we want to pick up 2 QBs in the draft. If we get one then we’ll have Smith, Davis and the draft choice battling it out. No need to grab 4 in the draft.

Great Retort Man +1

I am all for taking Berry if he falls to us but i only selected players that would be available with our “projected picks” . And your right Hughes is going to be an absolute beast opposite either Haralson or Lawson.

Golden Tate would be the perfect #2 WR opposite Crabtree. Plus he can contribute in a major way in the return game. Selvie is an impact player and to get him in the 2nd round is amazing, but i agree regarding need. Do you really think Balmer is a 3rd DE in the NFL?

I just don’t like the idea of taking a T or G early. This draft class isn’t filled with major prospects with the exception of Bulaga who may never come out and if he does will go before we pick. McNeill, Roos etc… are going to be available in FA.

The Extra 2nd round pick is a projected 49ers trade down in the draft picking up that pick. the 5th and 6th round picks are probable compensation pick for the 2008 losses of Donald Strickland and Ronald Fields

I take two QB’s because Juice Williams isn’t a QB in the NFL, this in my opinion. It’s most likely the 225-237th pick in the draft so why not take an athlete ?

"Cannot play with them. Cannot win with them. Cannot coach with them. Can't do it. I want winners. I want people that want to win!!!"

by nocal81(Vincent) on Dec 5, 2009 9:16 PM PST up reply actions

Lots of teams need tackles so I see your point about not having one early

It’s also going to make it difficult to get one in FA. I can see getting a Guard like Roos in FA though. I wouldn’t be opposed to us starting Sims at LT, getting Roos in FA for LG, Rachal as RG, and moving Staley to RT.

So you’re thinking trade our 2nd #1 down to later in the draft? Most mocks I’m seeing have Hughes as a 2nd rounder, so if we trade our 2nd 1st (probably around 15 or so), for a later 1st rounder and an additional 2nd rounder—is that what you’re suggesting?

I can’t see us getting any compensatory picks. It would be nice.

So you’re thinking Williams as RB?

by smileyman on Dec 5, 2009 9:39 PM PST up reply actions

Out of all 11 of those

The only pick I could justify is Pouncey at #3.

Haden as the #1 overall pick?
If Berry is gone we need to draft a Tackle with the very 1st. Not Haden. Clements will be back and Spencer also. So why waste your very first pick on something you wont exclusively use? Hughes will be around in the 2nd round and that is way too high for our 2nd 1st round pick.

Golden Tate is not and upgrade over Josh Morgan or Jason Hill so sorry on that one.
Selvie? I would rather play Kentwan Balmer or Ricky Jean-Francois than George Selvie. Kindle would be a better pick there and I suspect he would be available there.

If Alex Smith continues to make strides, Max Hall is out. Smith, Hill, and Davis should be the QB’s again next year. I dont see a QB at the 5th. We may take one in round 7 and just take a gamble on it. And it won’t be Juice Williams so we can count him out. We already have one converted QB on the team, 2 is 2 too many.

A FB? That’s all I will really say to that. We are not in dire need of a FB. Besides, if, and its a big IF, we use a FB often enough next season, We already have Norris and Brit Miller waiting in the wings…he would convert over from TE.

Justin Woodall makes a little bit of sense, but he would have to come in and beat out Reggie Smith and Curtis Taylor for a roster spot…and in doing so, would have to be a special teams genius in the preseason. He doesnt currently play special teams so it would be all new to him. That pick would only make sense for that reason…its a long shot.

I didn’t mean to completely dismantle that order there, and it is just my opinion, however alot of these from a neutral frame of mind don’t logically make sense to me

The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Hill

is under contract 1 more year. We won’t roster 4 QB’s. Hill is a solid back up

by Drew Kerr on Dec 6, 2009 8:19 PM PST up reply actions

Hughes might actually fall to us in the 2nd depending on how incredible a game he has against Boise

If he has a game like Suh just had we’ll have to take him in the 1st, otherwise he’s 3-4 specific so that eliminates half the teams that might have drafted him. Tate is definitely better than any WR we have besides Crabtree but if we don’t go with Hughes on the 2nd pick, (and I’d perfer we go with Bulaga that high honestly), and he’s still around in the 2nd sorry Tate you’re not better than Hughes who just by sheer coincidence could fall.

And just for the record. Earl Thomas is the #2 Safety now… I even saw 1 board (mistakenly) calling him the #1 playmaker now. This is of course because Berry has been used more for tackling than roaming free as he had previously… But Thomas is awesome in coverage and very good.

Gimme 1 round!

by ItBurnzWhenIP on Dec 8, 2009 6:57 AM PST up reply actions

I think our OLB's have shown a little lately

and deserve the end of the season before we decide on drafting a pass rusher. If they can keep the sacks up (granted they played against poor o-lines)…we can maximize effectiveness of early picks by taking more OL and DB’s.

by Tre9er on Dec 8, 2009 7:29 AM PST up reply actions

I'm all for drafting another 3-4 OLB

Lawson plays better when he thinks his job is in danger. Haralson has been ok but not fantastic. Brooks is coming along, but it never hurts to have a stud out there.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

by smileyman on Dec 8, 2009 9:23 AM PST up reply actions

Haden’s a great pick, but if Clements agrees to restructuring his contract, I see a bigger need at FS. So far, Goldson’s been a disappointment…not the playmaker I was looking for. He’s allowing WAY too many plays in front of him. Berry’s the guy. I like taking one of the best OT’s with the other 1st rounder. Had Crabtree not fallen to us, Oher would likely have been our RT, so it’s still a position of need. Snyder’s best attribute is his versatility. Ditto on the OG pick…I’m thinking they won’t re-sign Baas. I don’t think Selvie’s what we need as a pass rusher. Hughes is the @#it…he might last ‘til the 2nd round…a lot of the good ones did in the last draft. If so, we grab him…if not, we need someone stouter than Selvie, he’s really disappointed this year. Hall’s a good pick at QB…but what’s missing is a big RB. Not that familiar w/Jackson, but if we’re going more spread offense, then a FB’s not the pick it’s a big RB. I really like Gerhart, Dixon, Clay and Unga…any of them would be fine. Definitely no on Juice Williams…we don’t need another “project”. Somewhere in this draft it wouldn’t be a bad idea to grab a C…since Wallace hasn’t seen the field in two seasons, his future’s got to be doubtful

by CorvaNinerFan on Dec 8, 2009 12:52 PM PST up reply actions

Trading the Carolina pick?

Who actually are you passing on? Berry? (site decorum) that. WR in the 2nd and a safety in the 6th? Are you an Irish fan?
I expected a more team friendly mock since you are a Niners fan, and that has nothing to do with Berry not being there, it has more to do with Tate in the 2nd and no safety until the 6th.

I think Earl Thomas will end up going before Mays come draft day if he declares.

I want me some Buster

by gbears16 on Dec 5, 2009 8:25 PM PST reply actions

He will

Unless Al Davis goes reaching like crazy for Mays. I’ve seen more and more scouts saying what I said a couple weeks ago and got some slight ridicule about. Taylor Mays could be getting converted into a weakside linebacker as his biggest liability is then nullified and the guy is a force against the run.

Thomas is the 3rd best cover guy in the draft after Berry and Haden and his stock has soared of late. He’s in the top 15 now by many accounts.

my favorite is the one from walter football.

if the niners land eric berry and brian bulaga in the first round, it would be a great draft no matter what. even if they used the rest of their picks on guys who didnt make the 75-man roster cuts. i mean it.

I love that draft.

by Tre9er on Dec 7, 2009 8:32 AM PST up reply actions

do you guys think myron rolle will fall to the 4th or 5th? He’s basically said he doesn’t want to have a full length career in the NFL by building himself a hospital to eventually work at as a doctor, however that same hospital shows that he expects to work in the NFL long enough to pay for it. The fact that he’s no longer going to be a first round pick means he’s going to have to wait for free agency to make the big bucks.

Everything I’ve read about him indicates that he’s a great safety. he’s smart (on and off the feild) and a good leader, and all aspects of his game seem pretty good, except for the lack of interceptions due to the way he was played. Rather than having the freedom to move to where he can make a play he was usually matched up against someone who would usually be covered by a linebacker, like a running back or tight end.

by hellaninersfan on Dec 6, 2009 12:06 AM PST reply actions

I want Rolle just because he’s on his way to supplanting that bearded guy from the Dos Equis commercials.

by Grant Brisbee on Dec 6, 2009 9:42 AM PST up reply actions

I don't want him

he ha to much football outside of football. He could be good but all the media will be talking about what he wants to do outside of the game of football. I think it would become a distraction for the team. And everyone would be wondering when he is going to retire after his 4-5 year…. No thanks

by GMARCH on Dec 6, 2009 9:44 AM PST up reply actions

With a 4th or a 5th

I would absolutely take him. Our secondary sucks. Right now the only guy pulling his weight is Spenser. With Clements at SS that might change but it would never hurt to have Rolle getting payed near nothing as a back-up to Berry and Clements or to be able to bring him in on a nickle package.

Not just players...coaches to

We need some experience, three timeouts in the first quarter, Drops, rolling out to the wrong side, some bad play calls. Players seem confused at times. We need an Oline coach and QB coach. Also an assistant coach that can keep us organized.
As far as the players goes we have Spikes and Smith for Vet. leadership on Defense.
I want a player like that on offense, doesn’t even have to be a starter. An Issac Bruce type player/teacher. Help them develop faster.
There is soooo much talent on this team when we get organized and Smith builds connections with the WR’S we will be a scary team to play against.

But what I want to do from there is package some of the additional picks we get with other low round picks to move into the low 20’s. There is a talent drop off at the positions we need after Berry/Haden which is likely to go somewhere in the 6-9 slots, that starts becoming feasible to select around 20. If somehow Bulaga, Berry and Haden have come off the board by our 8 or 9 pick I would say to move all our picks down get additional picks then wheel and deal them to get 3 slots 18-25 and and extra 2nd

In that worst case scenario I’d like to see something like…

1.a Earl Thomas
1.b One of the tackles
1.c BPA that has slipped drastically that isn’t at QB or TE
2.a Jerry Hughes
2.b Gerhart

Gimme 1 round!

yeah, I like that

if we’re picking 8 or 9 and the BPA’s are QB’s, TE’s, RB’s/WR’s (who can’t return punts)…we shouldn’t reach on positional needs at that point. Trade down, get an extra second or like you said, package both 1’s for three 1’s further down, if possible.

When is Earl Thomas projected to go/where is he ranked? Is Bulaga a lock to go before the middle of rd 1?

Free Agency

I hope to heck we don’t see the team acquire questionable guys (pashos types) leading up to the draft, then make bonehead draft picks while relying on the FA pickups.

The only guys I want in FA are a veteran DB who can still play and mentor the rest…and a young, proven OL.

Pretty good

I don’t think the 49ers would draft 2 QBs if they even draft one. I think they like what they are seeing in Smith, and they like what they saw from Nate Davis in the preseason. Also i’m not sure of what to think about Golden Tate. I think that we’ll have to wait to after the combine to get a good assessment of him

Go 49ers

I could see us getting a 2nd QB in later rounds of the draft

I don’t think we’ll be keeping Hill on the roster.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

who backs SMith then?

Davis? Some would like that idea but I dunno…I guess you can take that risk. See how camp goes and if the last QB isn’t working out, cut him and sign a guy off the street, Garcia or someone.

Backup would be either Davis or the new rookie

whichever won the job

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.

idk

I think I’d rather have Shaun Hill as the back-up

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Did Real GM football change their picks?

They had the 49ers choosing Bradford and Mays in the first round but you only listed Bradford. Did they change their projections after you posted or did you just miss the May’s pick?

Don't trust this guy. He lies.
