bye bye playoffs
yeap, Smith is rising, and the Niners are entertaining .... and can hang and be competitive, but what's up with the coaching staff calling three timeouts in the 1st quarter ? Niners certainly have the tools to get into the playoffs next year and with two number draft picks.......2010 is looking good ! ....
Unfortunately, their last drive was simply stupid play calling, ..... and it's time to trade Gore, he's not into it anymore.......
his body language says so ....
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

I wouldn't give up just yet.
Although the seattle game was Disgusting. They won the field position battle by far and VD couldn’t catch worth a damn…simply Disgusting.
But there still is hope. Let’s just beat Philly…

Seattle won the field position battle in the 2nd half....
because of a weak, BS block in the back call on a punt return. Instead of having the ball at mid-field, they got it at the 5, and it screwed them the entire half
That block in the back call was so clear that I'm surprised you would even bring that up.

non-call PI on 4th down, non-call PI on pass to Butler, PI on Jones, only one PI called against Trufant even though Crabtree was getting abused on every single pass play, no offsides (or lining up in the neutral zone) calls against SEA even though you could clearly see that their hands/helmets were offside..
And MANY, MANY more…..

Can we just make this official Trade Gore post?
I think it’s a horrible idea. The 49ers aren’t going to find that type of back to run in the spread offense. I harped on it all week, those kind of backs are rare: Marshall Faulk, Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas rare.
The problem is the 49ers need to find away to mesh their passing game with their running game. Predictable by formation isn’t a bad thing, almost all teams are. The good teams are just able to execute even if the defense knows what’s coming.
A better offensive line should allow the offense to run when they want to run and pass when they want to pass. Why get rid of Gore?
offense
I’m working on a post for tomorrow morning dealing with the offensive philosophy across the board. Can still discuss it here, but have a broad take on it for tomorrow.

I wouldn't say so just yet...
There are four more games left, and given the way the turnout of some of the games has been today (e.g.: Oakland over Pittsburgh, Washington nearly over New Orleans, etc.), it would not be farfetched to poke at the possibility of a team like Indianapolis or New Orleans suddenly losing all of the next four games. However unlikely, it is still a chance. Whether or not it is hopeless optimism is entirely in the eye of the beholder.
I agree with some of the other unofficial coverage on this website pertaining to the atrocious officiating by the officials today. Some of the calls really were outstanding, in the sense that they were so obvious when they happened that it frustrated not just the fans, but clearly frustrated Mike Singletary and the rest of the players on the field. For instance, I thought it was simply remarkable how a defensive pass interference call wasn’t called on a dropped touchdown pass to Delanie Walker on 4th & 1. The very next play (yes, literally), the officials neglected to call a safety when the 49ers defense clearly tackled the Seahawks’ halfback in the inzone. Later, another pass interference call was not made when Michael Crabtree was tagged before the ball even came in his direction in the inzone.
Spilled milk, however. The real reason the 49ers can’t finish games is because, in my opinion, of a stubborn tendency on the part of the offense. It has seemed to me that whenever they find success with a certain something, they simply abuse it to the point that the offense’s style becomes very predictable. This is probably why the Seahawks seemed to get progressively better versus the offense in the second half of the game. Whatever happened to versatility? Whatever happened to creativity? All of these things have seemed to been completely thrown out the window since the departure of Steve Mariucci.
It seems they want to be either a passing or running offense, despite examples set by Joe Montana and Steve Young, that versatility is what wins games, and especially championships. How about an alternation between Pro-Set, I-formation and Spread style offense, rather than either or?
“Hitting people in the mouth” should remain the formula for the 49ers defense. The offense clearly needs something along the line of versatility.
This nails it

First is was all run than the door swung to all pass, neither is the answer.

He has bad stammina
Definitely not worth a 1st round pick if he can only play 3rd downs.
Don’t be fooled, he’s no Chris Johnson…..

He's amonster
You can work on conditioning unless he smokes, I don’t know where you get that fom. he played with turf toe all season and that’s a beeyotch
Black Sand Ninja Here!!
Ban the Trolls, FF find a new home!!
Spiller is a BOSS
I think a change of pace back is just what we need for the spread offense we run.
I wouldn’t mined Jahvid best Either.
1-Berry
1-Spiller
I get that from watching him play
He’s usually winded after 5 or so plays.
Like I said, he’s no Chris Johnson….and if he’s just a change of pace back then he’s not worth a 1st round selection.
I’d rather have a player that provides much more value and can make a bigger contribution (OL, S, CB)
There are plenty of fast guys out there….

He can fill 2 needs
1st need KR/PR that way we have other needs open as in Corner/Wideout
Back up change of pace back. Gore does get hurt and he can help Coffee out.
Let's get the division!
J. Arenas fills two needs as well
He can play as a dime-back and he can be the KR/PR too.
Plus he can be picked up in the 2nd-3rd round.
