Golden Nuggets: The morning after...
Ninjames had some Internet issues last night so I'm getting the Nuggets posted. I'd imagine most folks are still getting over yesterday's kick in the junk game. This goes beyond the proverbial stomach-punch game, that's for sure. Anyways, not much more to be said at this point. I'll have a post up at 7am pacific for a broad discussion of the 49ers offense going forward. Later in the day, probably, we'll have a special teams post going up, focusing on the return game. On to the links.

so sick of it
it’s been snowing here in sacramento off and on all night, i know this because i haven’t slept at all. I don’t know where to be as a fan right now. so uncertain. none of these links give any comfort at all. if my dog was still alive…. well you get the idea
Snowing in Sac? Wow, it hasn't done that in years...
We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!

I’ve been in New Jersey for three weeks now taking care of a sick relative, with no internet unless I go to the local library, and my Niner coverage has been spotty at best. All yesterday evening I was watching the scores. I knew that if it was tied near the end that the Niners were going to lose it. And so it was. I watched about two thirds of the Cardinals game, I haven’t even checked the score yet (New York papers don’t carry late scores) but I presume that they won.
So let’s face it. The Niners were supposed to be a smashmouth football team that was going to run at will, and let’s face it, they couldn’t run at Will or Grace. The offensive line was inadequate to start with and after the injuries was a disaster. Did I read the box score correctly? 26 rushing yards for Gore? We know it’s not Gore, and it’s not the other players who touch the ball. It’s a god-awful offensive line.
Of course, I saw ten seconds of highlights, so I didn’t see any of the game, but that the impression I got.
Anyway, I’ll be home next weekend. Hope the Niners destroy the Cards.

Ray Ratto loves when the 49ers make fools of themselves
His best written work, or that which seems he put the most effort into…seems to stem from our worst hour.
Something is wrong with that.
Now I know why I read Maiocco so much. Not editorial…just factual
I think that’s the point of his journalism… not everything should be in support of your team, when they lose they get shit… And that’s what Ratto is, a negative journalist, he wouldn’t in my mind have a job if he was always positive
Ratto enjoys any of the local teams suffering
Without it he’d have nothing to write. Which is fine, that’s his schtick, but it’s rarely helpful as he’s not one to offer solutions.

Morning after
Such an appropriate title. If only it could be forgotten and was not laying next to you, only it’s your bed so you can’t sneak away and forget this ever happened. What an ugly loss.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.

The 49ers were not ready to be the playoff team they hoped they were
Check my 49ers blogs at Mining the Gold Rush and San Francisco 49ers Examiner
Singletary said. "I could go there, but I’m not because the referees did not fumble. The referees didn’t miss tackles. So I’m not going to go there.
…. and the referees didn’t make a bunch of stupid coaching mistakes. (interesting how he let VD off the hook by not mentioning dropped passes)
I just wish Sing would man up after one of these losses and take some responsibility. I love him, but this shirking, or maybe inability to see, his part in all this mediocrity is wearing mighty thing over here.
If Bochy coached the Warriors Bengie Molina would start every game at PG.
Responsibility for what?
What would you have liked for him to take responsibilty? He took it for the punt return. What else?
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
He took it for the punt return
No he did not. He said he didn’t know they were gonna run it. And then it comes out that they practiced it all week. But, he didn’t know they were going to run it? And that’s exactly what I’m talking about. He only takes credit in a kind of “put it on me because I’m a stand up guy even though it was really my crappy players fault”.
What would you have liked for him to take responsibilty?
Oh good grief.. You mean because he took credit supposedly for the punt return that he’s done enough credit taking for the entire season?
If Bochy coached the Warriors Bengie Molina would start every game at PG.

You're not answering
It was my fault. Whenever something like that happens it’s my fault because the communication should have been better.
He did what you asked. This may come as a surprise to you but many coaches do not micromanage their coordinators. You go over things during the week and give them a certain amount of latitude. Sing may have left that communication with Everest be too vague. That is thus his fault, not that of the coordinator. He’s not trying to be a standup guy. He’s doing his job as HC and taking responsibility, as you requested. What else do you want? Please be specific.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
