49ers may be on Peppers list
According to an article I just read on Yahoo Sports, Peppers has provided the Panthers with a list of four NFL team he would like to be traded to. The article mentions the Cowboys as one and states 2 of the other three teams are from the NFC.
Now there are 8 teams in the AFC and 3 in the NFC running the 3-4....
So based on the fact that he wants to play for a 3-4 team, and along with the Cowboys the Niners and Packers are the only 3-4 teams in the NFC, so according to their sources the 49ers are one of those teams.
Now I'm not saying I want Peppers on our team. Although he is a freakish athlete and potentailly suited to play OLB in a 3-4, the fact remains he is unproven at that position and trading for him wouldn't be worth it in my opinion.
Here is the article: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Ar.Y.XG.2_8UJBEkihYo_pVDubYF?slug=ap-panthers-peppers&prov=ap&type=lgns
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

to make the situation more confusing...
Carolina hasn’t tagged either Gross or Peppers. Apparently a long-term deal with Gross is in the works.

I like that screen name!!!
I would love Peppers but he’s gonnna cost us too much, especially if they franchise him. Although he is an amazing player, he didn’t have an amazing season last year, his sacks were way down. We gotta get the best bang for our buck!!

I think you're thinking of 2 years ago...
when he had 2.5 sacks. Last year he had 14.5, his highest season total. But I agree that he will cost too much, both in the trade assuming Carolina franchises him and with the contract he’ll demand.

So he said he would NOT want to be dealt to either the Patriots or the Steelers?

One of the the Patriots or Steelers...
may have been on his list, but not both according to the article. It says there are 4 teams on his trade list and 3 are NFC including the Cowboys and 1 is from the AFC. It is unlikely he would want to go to the Steelers and the Steelers don’t need him with Harrison and Woodley playing on the outside.

He would be a great fit on 49ers. His price might be high but if we can get Peppers and solid RT it would be a great year in free agency. Teams would go nuts having to deal with our defense. They aren’t going to run with success against Willis and 3rd down would be hell having to block Peppers.

We won’t get peppers. Mike does not like guys would beg for trades and take plays, games, or seasons off, reguardless of how good they could be.
According to the comminsioner of the nfl, 104 people retired last year. 7 due to age, and the rest because of Patrick Willis

NFC South list?
A North Carolina newspaper is reporting that the other two NFC teams are reported to be from the NFC South. I’ll have more on this in a front page post in the morning.

Wow Interesting..
So maybe Peppers list is shorter than it looks, maybe he’s trying to force Carolina to trade him to this mysterious AFC team. As that article points out, the Cowboys don’t have the first round pick Carolina is looking for and I doubt they will ever trade him to a rival NFC South team.

Hello fellas
the Cowboys the Niners and Packers are the only 3-4 teams in the NFC
Actually the Cardinals will be running a 3-4 this year. Just thought I’d throw that in the mix.
