Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

Toughest QB EVER!

Well.. obviously I am a 49er fan, and I was born in the 70's, so heres my top 5..

1.Donovan McNabb (And I hate the Eagles, and their fans!, but this is truth)

2.Steve Young/ Troy Aikman/ Brett Farve - 3 way tie.

3.John Elway

4.Jeff Garcia

5. Joe Montana (he came back from his back injury, and he's my fav..lol!)

But I would love to hear from some of those a little older and younger - what they think.

What about Garcia?

Seemed everytime he gets the snot knocked out of him, he only gets better..

He doesn't get better...

he just gets up.

But that’s a miracle in and of itself.

by shlecko on Feb 22, 2009 9:13 PM PST up reply actions

whats his completion percentage..

..after he gets the snot knocked out of him.. florida danny is that possible?

The reason Donovan McNabb..

..grabs my first pick was his performance with a broken ankle, never seen a QB do that before..

Byron Leftwich at Marshall

Anybody else remember the game where he broke his shin in a game and his offensive linemen had to carry him down the field. They lost the game, but it was still pretty crazy.

by David Fucillo on Feb 22, 2009 9:12 PM PST up reply actions

yeah, that was great

but how bad would you have to feel about yourself if you were Marshall’s back-up QB?

by foosball4949 on Feb 23, 2009 12:47 PM PST up reply actions

Ok then!

Sorry, just being nitpicky. I’ll throw Big Ben out there, he’s pretty tough. Between playing with broken ribs in the Superbowl, and taking on potential sackers like a running back, he’s got to be pretty high on any list.

by Brendan Scolari on Feb 22, 2009 10:30 PM PST reply actions

I’m am admitted Donovan McNabb hater so I wouldn’t put him on top of any list. . . . well worst QB to ever have in a big game, McNabb #1.

Another problem with this question is I bet there have many performances were the QB was injured but was never reported. The last thing you want an opposing defense to know is your QB has an injury.

An oldie, but very tough

Kenny Stabler. He also played in an era when they didn’t protect the QB with so many rules the way they do now. The Snake was a tough dude.

by illini49er on Feb 23, 2009 10:24 AM PST reply actions

yeah, what about Fran Tarkenton

he was supposed to be pretty tough, but he was before my time

by foosball4949 on Feb 23, 2009 12:48 PM PST up reply actions

I was wondering..

..if someone would bring up scramblin’ Fran of the Vikes.. before my time too, anyone here a witness, can maybe shed some light, on the NFL record holder for yards, run behind the line of scrimmage..

by Josh G and the Shaun Hill band wagon on Feb 23, 2009 1:13 PM PST up reply actions

He played like at least 3 seasons in a row taking up to 15 pain shots a week in the ribs just to get on the field.

Now, it kind of killed his production, but he still did it. Tough as nails.

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

Awww crap, I’m not actually talking about Stabler. I always get those stupif Raiders quarterbacks mixed up.

Jim McMahon!

Steve Young said he learned everything he knew about toughness by watching Jim McMahon in college!

I agree with all of you about McNabb being the toughest...

but what I can’t understand is why no-one has even mentioned Big Ben from Pittsburgh. To me, he has got to be in the top 5 all time toughest. I mean I’ve watched games where absolutely nothing can bring that man down. Awesome!

by Ninerfromacrossthepond on Feb 23, 2009 6:33 PM PST reply actions

Look above..

..he’s on acouple of our lists.. Ben played an amazing game in the superbowl to win it this year, he did have Holmes..

Obviously Farve is #1. His consecutive games streak is absolutely insane though I’ve gotta give it up McNabb for his NFC Championship game with the broken ankle. How you could put Montana on there is beyond me though. He’s the greatest quarterback to ever live but really, dude was frail.

At this point it’s important that I mention that I hate Brett Favre.

..in fact

The greatest QB performace I mention in my other fan post , was indeed after his injury.
Something to think about.

by Josh G and the Shaun Hill band wagon on Feb 23, 2009 9:57 PM PST up reply actions

To come back from his back injury..

and play the way he did..
.. was a big deal and he’s my fav.. I think I mentioned that..

Need I say more about John?
