Moran Norris: starting FB or no?
It sounds like a FB will be a big part of our run game. Is Norris going to start, or are we going to look for someone else in the draft? If we do draft a FB, who should we go for? Also, just out of my own curiosity, how did he do the last time we had him? I apologize if this has already been discussed; I seem to remember someone talking about him a little while ago. Anyway, we have him now, so how will the Niners use him?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

Norris is a starter.
His contract/salary is about what you’d expect from a decent starting fullback.
If I’m not mistaken, drafting a FB is a rarity. A lot of the league’s fullbacks are undrafted FAs, if I’m not mistaken. With Keasey on the roster, it’s highly unlikely the 49ers will look too hard for a backup fullback.

Thanks...good to know
I hope he opens up some holes for our RBs!
Alaska is a state, dammit! Can I get a Niner game on TV up here?

Unless you’re the Seattle Seahawks, then you like drafting back-up fullbacks and long snappers.
Don't sweat it. I'm illiterate.

norris
he did good for us. he can also catch the ball in the backfield which rare in the nfl for a full back. plus, frank gore had 1800 yards rushing behind norris 2 or 3 seasons ago.

1695
5 more stinkin’ yards and he’d be in the 1700 club.
Morris doesn’t just pave the way for Gore, they are mutual friends. I know its trivial, but its important. Remember the horror show that was Fred Beasley and Kevan Barlow? Beasley and Barlow hated one another and it didn’t turn out pretty.

haha
i’m trying to give me boy extra yards. and yeah, that’s a good point about beasley and barlow. but, i’m ready to watch this duo again.

Beasley/Barlow
I think that their “failure” had a lot more to do with Barlow’s dancing behind the line. People don’t call him “Happy Feet” for no reason.

Starter
Yeah he should. I’m excited to have a nice blocking FB. I would have loved to have Lorenzo Neal but whatever. Tom Rathman should help our running game a lot

YUP
rathman should help and norris should give gore nice protection. Not to mention if we go get an offensive lineman in the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised if...
The Niners picked up an UDFA after the draft or even somebody like Quinn Johnson with their 7th rounder or one of their compensatory picks. Everybody says that Johnson is a dynamite blocker, and you can’t underestimate the importance of a good FB for a power run game. Look at the way LT’s numbers declined after he lost Lorenzo Neal—300+ yards less and a full yard less per carry!
Throwback unis? Yes. Throwback afros? YES!

We wouldn’t have re-signed him if he wasn’t going to start for us
