Julian Peterson Moving to...
the Detroit Lions. Not good for Julian.
Former SF 49er LB and Pro Bowler, Julian Peterson has been reportedly traded to the Detroit Lions for DT Cory Redding and a 5th round draft pick. The 49ers could have had him, I guess. But, for salary cap purposes,I don't think it was a good fit.

FOOCH'S NOTE 1:03PM: Aside from not having Julian Peterson in the same division, this could affect the 49ers draft options. Adam Schefter pointed out that this could mean the Seahawks would not reach for B.J. Raji. Maybe he still doesn't fall to the 49ers, but you never can tell.

I’m so glad we don’t have to see him anymore

$$$
I guess he’ll have to cry into his hundred dollar bills in his mansion every night. From a playing perspective it certainly stinks to have to go to Detroit.

It stinks to play for...
A Jeff Fisher protege’ ?
The 49ers had a choice between Schwartz and Nolan. Marathe, a fan of Moneyball and Football Outsiders, compiled his data trying to model the next Bill Walsh, and thus Nolan was hired as Head Coach. Meanwhile, Schwartz still works with Football Outsiders, and their Pro Football Prospectus.
Marathe needs to get out of anything related to Football, and just stick with the $$$ and contracts.
Well, we're waiting....

Wait… Nolan was hired because stats indicated that his presence would exploit market deficiencies in a positive way?
I’m confused.
My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

Stewart v. Cramer
Will you be the Jon Stewart to Marathe’s Jim Cramer?

Wasn't that...
A movie with Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep?
Umm.. Never mind.
Umm.. Never mind.Onto the point: I think Schwartz will be a good coach in the future, and it’s too bad that, for whatever reason, he wasn’t the choice back then post Erickson. Plus, he has worked with 2 of the best Head Coaches in the NFL.
Well, we're waiting....

But, after thinking about what I would ask Marathe...
My first question would be:
“Why Nolan over Schwartz?”
Well, we're waiting....

Glad he's out of the division.
He wreaked havoc against the 49ers everytime they took the same field. I remember him more for the phenominal athlete he was as a Niner. Remember when he had to play a little safety? I’m happy to see him go to Detroit, to get him out of the NFC West for one, and because Ford Field is a stone’s throw away for me.
I think the team the Lions are putting is good for JP. He’ll be the aged leader of the teams LBs, and tandem with a blooming Ernie Sims. Peterson will be a great voice for that squad, and he’ll make the backers around him better. Which isn’t hard to do. I think this may open up a bit more potential for Raji going to the Lions 1 overall (which would indeed be shocking).

Draft Impact
Seattle seemed to have bypassed on BJ Raji who I still think won’t fall to us. I expect Curry adn ORakpo to go 5 and 6. I think green bay is selecting for OLB like us and we will have to trade the pick or trade up to 4

Lions building for a playoff run

Detroit getting serious?
I think Detroit made a great move with this. I’m real glad Peterson’s no longer in our division, but Detroit has been in major need of a guy like him. I can assure that this would have never happened under Matt Millen’s watch.

That’s good news. Peterson was dead to me when he signed with the Seahawks. Welcoming him back would have been a lot to swallow.
Peterson “is all about the money” more openly than most pro football players. That always bothered me about him . . . in addition I don’t remember him making that big of an impact in Seattle. He could beat up on a depleted 49er team but never did much on the big stage.

What's the preseason have to do with this?
Counting last year’s 4-0, and the next 3 years of 4-0, there’s your 16-0. ;)

I'd really like to see them do well
If it doesn’t affect us. I liked Calvin Johnson for a long time. Megatron deserves to win!

good riddance
If you had a lineup of 9 Jack Custs who hit(Cust career average) .239 AVG, .382 OBP, and .475 SLG, then your team would score 6.12 runs per game-totalling to 991runs a season. The 08 rangers lead the majors in runs score with 901.

So....
Probably no Curry to Detroit, and no Raji to Seattle.
Anything else related to the 49ers?

Who #1,2,3,4 and on
From week to week, the Mock Draft changes. Everybody right and everybody wrong at the same time. It’s going to be interesting for next 5 weeks! Can you imagine the complete and utter confusion that’s going on now. Wait until Draft Day. In the minds of the Gen. Mgrs., Did I get the right Player or should I have pick the other one? Then the Fans and Sport Writers are going to either Applaud or Rip into them. This is to going to be fun to watch!! But I still cann’t wait until the Season start. Have FUN, everyone!!!!!!
