CBS News Report: 49ers (and Raiders) consider signing T.O.
http://cbs5.com/sports/terrell.owens.cowboys.2.951794.html, that's the link to where i got this from. It was interesting to see what our GM said about T.O., and i love the confidence he has that we aren't afraid to add loudmouths, obviously showing the belief he has with singletary that he can turn T.O. into a good team player. Now, i know i will get a lot of hate for this, but i think we should go for it. Shaun Hill, or whoever our starting Qb will be, will be a lot more confident knowing they have a top-tier reciever to throw to. Forget the bad things about owens, he is a beast on the field, and can teach a thing or two to ziegler, morgan, and hill. Maybe bruce would see potential and return back to us. I think we should try to sign him, and bring him back. Also, since Torry Holt asked to be released by the Rams, do you guys think we should pursue him? Cause bruce and holt are like best friends....

ESPN just ran a story
and said that the one two teams in the entire NFL interested in Owens are the Raiders and Titans. I hope that’s true, because as I said, I don’t want T.O. anywhere NEAR the 49ers ever again.

T.O.
He destroyed our team first. Now after, he single handedly ruined, half of the NFC east, why, oh why, would we be so dumb. I do not think, T.O. would last more than a month with Mike.. “can’t win with ’em..” Singletary..
And No, V.D.‘s antics, are no where near close, Owens, different person, different player.. if Andy Reid, couldn’y shape him up he’s worthless.

I cant believe I'm sayin this but...
I want T.O back in Frisco for some strange reason
he would make Shaun Hill more comfortable throwing
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY
I can break out my old T.O jersey thats collecting dust in my closet LOL

Frisco is a city in Texas.
You want him back with the Cowboys?

… with Owens in his (and Raye’s) face all the time?

I hope some other team..
..Signs T.O. and Holt, that’s before us, like the Rams get T.O. and the Raiders get Holt, and we can have Crabtree. yay!
by Josh G and the Shaun Hill band wagon on Mar 5, 2009 9:29 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
You do realize . . .
Crabtree can be a complete bust
1) Doesn’t have great size
2) Doesn’t have great speed
3) Played in a spread offense
4) His best play in the screen pass
5) His going to start his rookie season recovering from injury
Also his cousin is Tamarick Vanover . . . ok I made that up.

Yes..
..I was worried about the same thing when we Signed Alex Smith. Singletary, ain’t getting no wide reciever, with his first pick.. he’s going to pick the toughest baddest lineman that’s on the board weather it’s d-line or o-line. But I think he has a lot of potential to be great. Aren’t you glad, I’m not the HC or GM..:)

Anyone can be GM draft day if he has a good scouting staff is willing/able to listen to them.
I think you are right about Sing going lineman. I’m fine with the 49er receiving core. I thought they showed a lot of development last season.
by bignerd on Mar 5, 2009 9:49 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
I agee with you..
About the Rec. core, but I really hop Bruce will come back one more year. But I think Morgan could really be special, maybe more special than Crabtree. I think it’s the thought, of another team getting Crabtree, and him really turning out to be that good, that makes me want to get him, Morgan and Crabtree, with Hill and Zeigler, in the slots..

Did you ever
watch the kid play a game? EVER?
by Blank x2 on Mar 6, 2009 10:27 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Crabtree
He’s not saying he will be a bust. He’s simply saying he could be a bust. There’s no such thing as a 100% sure thing in the draft.
by Fooch on Mar 6, 2009 10:31 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Understandable,
but the kid was the best receiver in college his first two years. I perfectly agree with people being skeptical, but this is not one I think you can say that on. The kid dominated. I think Crabtree will be a pro-bowler and maybe more. He seems to have great physical tools, and seems to be an ideal professional.
What do you think, Fooch? Potential Bust or Potential Superstar?
by Blank x2 on Mar 6, 2009 10:39 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Superstar
Oh I love me some Crabtree (I really think it would be inappropriate to shorten it to Crabs in that instance!). I do think he’ll be great, but I also see why people might be a bit hesitant on him. Charles Rogers was gonna be a beast in 2003 but injuries and substance issues got in the way and now he’s more or less out the league.
by Fooch on Mar 6, 2009 10:47 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Good point
I’m still confident that he will use better judgment and not get into situations with substance abuse and all that, but he might prove me horribly wrong. I would LOVE to see us get Crabtree.
And Fooch, that AthleticsNation post by A’SeahawksWarriors was one of the best things I’ve read in weeks. PLEASE get us a link to anything that funny or brutal on the English Languge.
Maybe Crabtree can hit 198%. LoL

Andy Reid is a good enough coach, to turna round any good player. Sigletary may be the best but not the only one. The Tuna comes to mind.. who was that guy in Florida..J/K

So my answer is NO
we are on earth, and T.O. needs to go back to outerspace
by Josh G and the Shaun Hill band wagon on Mar 5, 2009 10:39 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Except we don’t have a QB to throw him the ball. I love T.O. and enjoyed when he was a 49er but this isn’t the current place for him.
Lets pretend we do add him to the roster. For sure I see an all out brawl with Vernon Davis. 90% chance Singletary at some point he decides to kick T.O. ass. The only question is whether these fights would wait til the locker room. Shaun Hill, isn’t your typical QB either. T.O. comes after him and Shaun is likely to throw down.

Best behavoir early...
… because the QBs are actually, you know, good? Can you imagine how long he’ll last with Hill at the helm, let alone the “inexperience” of Raye calling plays?
by sfgfan on Mar 6, 2009 9:20 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Everybody knows what TO brings to the table, good and bad
and from what I’ve heard about the lack of interest outside of the Titans TO might come at a discounted price. You’d be hard pressed to argue that if kept in line he would make the Niners better and if he comes at a discount you just sit his ass if he starts causing trouble.
Don't sweat it. I'm illiterate.

Discount
Most of my initial “NO TO T.O.” argument was because I thought he’d have generated a little more interested than he supposedly has. If he can come in for two years at a salary not too far from what the 49ers signed Jones for, I’d be all for it. As you point out, that money won’t hurt if he has to ride the pine because he’s not cooperating.
Or heck, his actually salary cap figure can be as big as they want it to be, so long as the guaranteed money isn’t that big.
by sfgfan on Mar 6, 2009 11:30 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
they are saying on Sportscenter
that we are the only team in the NFC who have not shot down interest in T.O. Take that for what it’s worth, but maybe the Niners are seriously considering him. Maybe Sing does thinks that his brand of discipline will finally get T.O. in line.

The Chronicle has said that sources say the 49ers are not interested in TO. I’d lean towards believing them than ESPN on something like this.

Not shooting down T.O.
According to Matt Maiocco, neither McCloughan or Singletary have shot down the possibility of Vick either. Maiocco (albeit kind of quick and maybe not even seriously) thinks the 49ers may just not want to piss of Rosenhaus (or Vick’s agent).

His contract should be interesting
I find it odd that a lot of teams are saying that they’re not interested but if you don’t give him much of a signing bonus, or guaranteed money, why not take a shot on him?

by methodrampage on Mar 6, 2009 12:37 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Maybe...
… by saying they’re not interested, they’re driving down the price? Rosenhaus has his hands full trying to keep T.O.’s value up right now.

I’ve got to believe at least they’re driving the guaranteed price down. I can’t see why anyone would guaranteed TO a bunch of money when you could force him to behave in order for him to get paid.
