OT - Corps vs. Core
I wanted to take some time to give a quick lesson about the word "corps."
I've noticed a lot of people recently have been using the word "core" in place of "corps," especially when talking about the WR corps. The word "core" means "the central, innermost, or most essential part of anything." Corps, on the other hand, means "a group of persons associated or acting together."
The word "corps" has been used often when describing units on a football team, much like it's used to describe the Marine Corps. Many people mistake the word for "core" because they are pronounced the same way, making them homophones.
So I would request and recommend that everyone from this point forward use the correct word "corps" when referring to the receiving corps of the team. Just don't write "crops." Believe me, your fingers will try to make you.

Don't forget about core in its verb form
As in removing the center portion of an object, such as “I need to core this apple” or “Patrcik willis will core your heart and then [site decorum] your [site decorum] 3 feet into the ground.”
Blind devotion.

an image to reinforce the point
Whenever I see "receiving core" I can’t stop picturing an apple core running down the field cutting to the middle and its stem popping off when it runs into Taylor Mays (a la this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLD33s7V7EU ).
Throwback unis? Yes. Throwback afros? YES!

I don't even know who it was
honestly I think there were like 5-6 people that did it in the last few days. So, common mistake.

as long as we all understand
A strong linebacker corps is the core of the Forty-Niners defense, right?
