Around SBN: Fighters React to Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

I know there are people on here that are much more familiar with Vegas than I am (Fooch, etc), so help me out. I'm going to Vegas next week and I need some insider info. I'm staying at the Monte Carlo. Here are my questions:

-Any good places around the strip to get cheap eats?
-Where can I find cheap tables (e.g. $5 blackjack)
-Any can't miss shows?
-If we're tired of casinos and the pool, what else is there to do during the day, during the night?
-What's the best strip club? Oh forget it I'm going with my gf.
-Other helpful info.

Thanks!

Vegas stuff

I’ll email you some more detailed info, but for now:

$5 tables: Monte Carlo has some, but Friday night and Saturday they often get bumped up. The only casinos that almost assuredly have no $5 tables would be places like Bellagio.

If you want reeeeeaaaally cheap, head down to Fremont Street. The California Hotel and Casino has $1 craps (or used to a few years ago) and 99 cent shrimp cocktails.

Some friends of mine saw Danny Gans (at Encore) and said it was great. Blue Man Group is also a great show.

Aside from gambling and the pools, you could always roll down to Hoover Dam. I’ll try and come up with some other stuff.

Hey me too!

what dates?

There’s a ton of stuff to do there, especially at night. The clubs are pretty much all open ’till 4AM or later.

I really enjoyed the Penn and Teller show when I was there. I heard that the Cirque Beatles show was really good, but they’re off next week.

During the day there’s the roller coasters, shops, etc. right on the strip

we were thinking about seeing that show. In fact, my gf has seen it before but was thinking of going again… I’ll be there the 8th-12th

is there a way to get discount tickets to any of the shows? Cirque or Spamalot?

Prostitution: not actually legal in Vegas.

All those flyers? Those are for no-sex girls. Don’t be fooled.

You’ll have to get outside of the city limits.

Kool-Aid guy

When it’s appropriate, I unleash the Kool Aid guy. It’s actually the background on my computer.

Family Guy

I watched that the first time it aired several years ago and that’s when I got back on my Kool-Aid guy kick. It’s classic.

Jimmy Buffet's MargaritaVille

Its near the Flamingo on the strip (I think ride beside). Best burger you’ll get in Vegas, in my opinion.

Ellis Island BBQ Ribs are fantastic and very cheap. If you’re going to that end of the strip, its worth it.

For the record: I *heart Vegas.

Went to Vegas MLK weekend...

and that town’s definitely hurtin…you can blame it on the economy (or maybe thank it), but during the day we found $5 blackjack tables at higher-end hotels like MGM Grand and played $5 craps at Mandalay Bay. I doubt that the top-tier casinos (Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn) have $5 tables but I wouldnt be surprised if a lot of the nicer hotels have a couple. Also, its a lot easier to get a cab these days, since they overexpanded way too quickly and now theres an influx of cabs waiting at every hotel.

For food, because of the recession a lot of the restaurants have 3 course fixed price menus that may not be dirt cheap but still are a good value. If you wanna try out a 4 star restaurant thats owned by a celebrity chef, now’s the time to do it…no Vegas trip is complete without one good meal (to make up for the 4am drunken diner breakfasts).
