What is your best sports day?
OK, call me crazy, but I'm officially sick of the draft. From the second I am typing this, ESPN is telling me it is 4 days, 2 hours, 51 minutes and 46 seconds from the draft starting, and news replaces speculation. So in trying to think of ANYTHING to talk about, besides the draft, I just thought to this past weekend....
Sunday was a day that is in the running for my Best Sports Day ever. I had Legend's club seats to Sunday's Yankee game (not the 22 run blow out), putting me on the 1st row of the third baseline, it was the closest Ive ever been to, well, any sporting event. I got a foul ball, and lived in the lap of luxury with free food, free drinks, etc in one of the most beautiful, awe-inspiring baseball stadiums I have ever set foot into. The Yankees won in a thrilling game with some close calls, I got my first foul ball, and I got multiple opportunities to heckle the Indians (fans and players).
After the game, I got home in time to watch the second half of the first game of the Lakers playoff game, to watch them dominate game one. I got an hour break or so, and then watched my NJ Devils get revenge against the Carolina Hurricanes in a dramatic overtime finish.
At the end of the day, I was exhausted, full, and sunburnt, but I couldn't help but reflect on the day. I can safely say that the day was, beginning to end, the best full sports day I have experienced in a long time (I can't say ever yet... Super Bowl XXIX was pretty fun).
But now the point of this post. I want to know Nation: What is your best sports day? It can involve the Niners or not, I just want to watch some people wax poetic about different experiences they have had in their sporting lives. Have fun Nation!

Best day probably, 49ers vs Giants wildcard
Worst day easily http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofg5EiHxaX8&feature=related

Clearly you have never made it to Oakland Colliseum.

wiser words have never been uttered
The Coliseum is a true shrine to the game of baseball!

Are you really a fan of the evil empire?
And I mean the Lakers not the Yankees.

probably...
in August 2007 when the Blue Jays beating the Yankees 15-4, with Wang on the hill against Halladay, with wang going 2.2 innings and Halladay going 7.0 strong.
worst day, the 49ers losing…well basically all of the 2004 season
An evil empire game...
The Yanks were playing in Oakland and loosing in the 8th inning by 2. It was A-Rods first year as a Yank and he came up to bat. He smashed it to straight center field about the farthest you can hit at the park. 3 run homer. It was awsome. Best Day ever would have to be the 9ers-Giants playoff comeback. It was so sad all the idiots leaving early while they were down 20 something in the 3rd quarter. We stayed and witnessed one of the best playoff games ever. Unforgetable. Rare that 1 player can take over a football game like TO did that day.
Fans stuck in the 80's are lame. Respect the past, live in the now.
Niners vs Cowboys
My first niners game live and I had the chance to watch Jerry Rice scoring two touchdowns and watched TO celebrating at the Cowboys Star it was great! One of my favorite sports day ever. Go Niners
Unfortunately,
because I am young, I haven’t really experienced the glory years or anything like that in my full fledged fandom.
That being said, attending Game 3 of the Warrior – Mavs playoffs series two years ago was pretty special.
MURS for President!!!!!!!
although watching that Fiesta Bowl
AP Oklahoma – Biose St. one live on tv was pretty neat too.
MURS for President!!!!!!!
Favorite moments
49ers
1995 49ers-Cowboys: When Steve Young and company finally beat the triplets to get to the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl was great, but it was almost anti-climactic after the NFC title game.
Non-49ers
It’s a tough call. In 2006, Game 5 when the A’s finally advanced out of the wildcard round was a great time. I had been working there for almost 4 years at that point so it was nice to get that final win.
One group of moments was the first week of the 2007 NCAA tournament. My UNLV Rebels were a 7 seed and underdogs to #10 seed Georgia Tech. They beat them and then two days later took down #2 Wisconsin. While I loved watching the Tarkanian Rebels, this group of Rebels was more fun because nobody thought they’d do anything.
Hmmm
I’m gonna go with a non-49ers response (although I have one of those too):
In 2002, my high school won the city football championship. We went 12-0. It felt like the day was a full 72 hours, from dawn to dusk.
Second, was The Catch-2, Terrel Owens’ touchdown catch against the Packers to finally kill Green Bay and those bastard cheese heads. This after Owens had been dropping balls all game. It was too dope on tv.

My moments
Misc 49ers moments I can remember watching live:
1) Eric Davis INT Aikman in the ‘94 NFC championship game. It was at that moment I knew they’d finally make it to the super bowl. The best part about it? He runs into the end zone with no goofy celebration (despite Deion egging him on to do so)…just getting the job done!
2) The Catch 2
3) Young to Rice in ’94 super bowl that began the rout
4) Alex Smith on draft day
Misc non-49ers moments live:
1) Rake on me all you want, but being a Lakers fan, three moments outshine all others:
(a) the huge comeback against Portland, when Kobe alley-oops to Shaq for the lead.
(b) Robert Horry’s 3 pointer to beat the Spurs
© Fisher’s .4 second shot to beat the Spurs
The early 2000’s were a good time to be a Laker fan!
2) Lofton’s bloop single to send the Giants to the Series in ‘02 (that was unfortunately cancelled due to unknown reasons). I don’t ever remember being so happy as I was after that game.

49ers and non-49ers
49ers- The Catch II: Finally beating the Packers, my brother’s team, in the playoffs and rubbing it in his face after three straight years. Needless to say he returned the favor in 2001. The other one could be 2002 when the Niners came back against the Giants in the Wildcard round. I don’t think I’ve ever jumped as high when Trey Junkin botched the snap for New York.
Sharks- Had to be winning the President’s Trophy this season or beating Detroit 6-5 at the Tank in January.
Giants- Lincecum earning his Cy Young award; Kenny Lofton sending us to the World Series was unreal.
Warriors- The only reason why I care about the NBA was because of the 2007 team. This was by far the most exciting basketball series I have ever seen; to watch history like that was just surreal. I even went to Penn State’s NIT Championship win over Baylor at Madison Square Garden this year, and still, watching the Warriors beat Dallas on TV was better.
Devils- Winning the Cup in 2000 was incredible after trailing Philadelphia 3-1 in the Conference Finals. Game 5 and 6 of the Finals against Dallas were two of the best goaltending performances you will ever see. Although the Devils failed to win back-to-back Cups on my birthday in 2001, they made up for it by winning their third Cup in 2003 on my birthday.
