Leroy Hill? What do we know....
Hey I just saw that the seahawks took the franchise tag off of Leroy Hill upon drafting curry from wake. What do we know about Leroy Hill? Is this guy any good or any better than someone on our team? Whats the ninernation inside on him? Is he a inside linebacker or outside?
Does anyone think this would be worth going after instead another unproven draft pick? I know its cheaper to sign a draftee but this guy is only 26? Thoughts? No?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

I know I don't want him, for big $$$$$$$$$$$
Seems like he is looking for a contract based on his first season. I’d like to have him next to #52 but, after Spikes plays one more season.

Leroy Hill is an AWESOME player
but I think he wants AWESOME money and I am not sure he is worth it. However if we DO get a chance to sign him you bet your ass we should

Steal him
If we could grab him from the seahawks that would be great
In Shaun Hill will trust

Screw the Seabirds....
Lets get him… he can definitely give us the pressure on the QB we need….. and if we can steal one of our division rival’s better players in the process i think it’s all positives! let’s do it!

are you sure?
admittedly, i don’t remember him, but his stats say he had 1 sack last year (though there are no stats on QB pressures).

Hill...
… is more than definitely a ILB in a 3-4. You don’t pay him the kind of money he wants to be a TED, especially if you want to extend Willis in the next year or two.

That especially should also...
… include “and if you want to draft or acquire a OLB in the near future.”

Acquire who exactly?
Where’s the pass rusher we can acquire post-draft. . . please let’s not go into the Peppers thing. I don’t think he’s the answer. Too expensive, too old, with still too many hole to fill on the D. So who could we get post-draft? Who will be let go between now and show time because of age / $, etc., that can be a Fred Dean trype of guy.
Anybody?

I don't think anyone...
… is saying anything about acquiring anyone with the draft picks RIGHT NOW. When I said near future, I was speaking in draft terms. The 49ers can go into the next offseason with the power to acquire someone else’s OLB or trade up to take a really good one.
I’m against Peppers, and there doesn’t seem to be anyone available now. Only time will tell what’s available next offseason. If anything is, the 49ers are in prime position to pounce, if that’s what they want to do.

Agressive player
Could do well in our LB corps
Fans stuck in the 80's are lame. Respect the past, live in the now.

He is too expensive
Although he is a good player he and his agent are looking for a Ray lewis worthy contract. He is definitely not worth that and our franchise is probably not willing to spend 8 million a year on him if we even have that kind of salary left under the cap
