6th worst draft out of all the teams in the NFL. They DID include the trade as a factor.
Let me say, I have been bashing the Niners since they traded out of 2. That was insane. They passed on Shonn Greene -- the Jets traded to move up to the first pick in round three to get him and were thrilled. He is a monster who never ran for under 100 yards in a game in a strong dicision, AND hardly ever fumbled. He blocks very well, and catches the ball.
So what do we do? Pass on Greene, pass on a top 10 rated pick Everette Brown, and TRADE for next year by also giving up our 4 pick.
Not a "D"" draft. An F. . . . . The only F-minus would go to Oakland.
Here, by the way, is the way things could have gone down (players available at our pick, if we hadn't made the trade:
2. Shonn Greene
Analysis: Scott is a nice value here and gives the Rams a physical interior defensive lineman. The Rams need to add more talent inside and Scott plays the run well and is also a surprisingly polished pass rusher.
Analysis: Sidbury is a productive, small-school defensive lineman who gives the Falcons a nice complement to DE John Abraham. He possesses long arms and has one of the best spin moves in the nation.
5a Choose between Duke Robinson, the top rated guard, Merrideth, a fan post fav, or Herman Johnson, second rated guard taken by . . .Arizona in the 5th, after us.
5b Follet or McKillop if he's there.
NOW THAT WOULD BE A NICE DRAFT. Still would need a safety but maybe we get lucky with what we have, or address it in FA II before the season starts with a veteran . . .
Who would YOU have chosen in each round if you were the GM? I bet it will be better than what MacLaughed At did.
