Uni-Watch critiques new Niners uniforms
Not really much else to add. Uni Watch has done this with the other teams that released new uniforms(Jags, Lions) now it's our turn to find out how our new digs compare to the others.

I agree with him
except that I love the new red and he was very “meh” about it. I emailed him to ask if he knows what the plan is for an alternate now that the new uni is so much like the throwbacks – he responded by saying “Nothing this year.”

Usually when teams go to new threds
It takes about two years before an alternate is created. It’s mainly Reebok’s way to milk out all possible jersey sales before introducing something new.

Yeah I am a fan of the red too
It seems like the biggest problem most people have with the uni’s is the wordmark on the chest. Also I hadn’t thought about what we would do for alternates. Maybe we will start wearing the 94 uni’s as our throwback?

the word mark sucks
it’s not necessary, and I hate that specific wordmark to begin with. They should have switched the wordmark (and therefore the end zone design) back to this:

I like them
Often simpler is better and these are an improvement.

i know crabtree mentioned some all-white unis in his press conference. i don’t know if he was just referring tot he white jersey or if we might get some white pants a la 94 as well.
also i remember reading awhile back that new unis would be introduced this year with a complete overhaul coming either next year or within the next couple years. does anyone know of the organization’s plans to “rebrand” the niners so to speak. the main SF logo still looks awesome, but the “49ers” one does look pretty awkward (like lukas says) and can definitely be improved.

I'm shocked...
that he didn’t mention the 3/4-collar. He’s expressed serious facepalm-esque thoughts towards the other teams who have gone with it, but made no reference to the 49ers implementation of the look. It’s true, though, that the collar being the same color as the jersey base makes it not nearly as hideous.

I kinda get the impression
that when they jerseys are actually on the players and they have pads on that you don’t really notice the collar. And the fact that it isn’t a contrasting color makes it stand out less.
