Lingering questions answered by John Clayton
Not only did I find Clayton's Q&A session interesting due to his insight on the 49ers QB situation, "Some people within the 49ers would love to draft Mark Sanchez." But his thoughts on the big name receivers still on the FA wire (Holt and Burress) and those with the possibility of being traded draft weekend (Boldin, Edwards or Ocho Cinco) ... Ala... Randy Moss. My question do you see a possibiltiy of this happening? Yes Boldin may not be traded to a NFC West rival but an Edwards Trade may be intriguing and a Holt signing can be a burn to the Rams once again. Any thoughts??

Good pull
Great so according to Clayton, 49ers management likes Sanchez but ownership isn’t willing to shell out the money. Gotta love organizations were management is limited towards building their team.

Speculation.
I feel it’s kind of necessary to mention that Clayton is just speculating on the potential ownership block.

The Niners haven't been cheap at QB
They signed Alex Smith to a huge deal, #1 overall. They JUST tried to sign Kurt Warner for over $12 million per year. They have decent options and they want to see what they can do. They’re being prudent, not cheap.

I think...
they don’t want to have 3 unproven QBs fighting for the starting job… I like the idea of drafting Sanchez, but this is purely for personal reasons. Not since Tom Flores has there been a Mexican QB in the bay area or in the NFL so to have Sanchez in my favorite team would be awesome…. also Alex Smith is so young that management wants to see if continuity will help his development.
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

Plaxico, Edwards and Ocho Cinco are all interesting – if there’s a coach that could smack these guys around enough so that their personal problems stop interfering with their performance on the field, Singletary is the guy who could do it
please don’t touch Holt with a 10-foot pole
