Official User Mock Drafting FanPost

As we're getting closer and closer to the draft, folks are putting out some well-thought out mock drafts.  They've generated some good discussion, but it's requiring people to jump back and forth to various mocks.  So, as we did with the OC search and the Jay Cutler thread, I thought I'd create a single thread where people could post their individual mocks with analysis.

I'm not quite sure how well this will work, but basically, if you're putting together a breakdown of the 49ers draft picks this year, post it here as a comment. You can discuss all the trades the 49ers should make and the players they should select after those deals.  If people want to comment on your specific mock draft (good, bad or indifferent), they can click the reply button below your comment and give their thoughts.

I definitely don't want to discourage FanPosts as a whole, but I think this will allow us to keep this specific discussion much more focused and clean up the FanPosts a little bit.  If people have a huge problem with this, then we'll abandon the idea.  Also, I've got a second "official" FanPost idea that will go up in a few minutes.

To keep this up top, feel free to recommend it at your leisure.  For new folks, down before the comments start, you'll see a button that says "Rec."  You can just click on that.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

Summers

I think somebody ends up drafting Summer…I think he’s already visited with a team or two.

by Fooch on Apr 9, 2009 2:41 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I hope it's us

Ever since someone posted that fanpost, I’ve looked into him a little more. I found this article/interview, and I think I would have no problem if the Niners took him in th 6th, possibly 5th.

One of the most impressive facts:

There’s hope that some guys are still dedicated to perfecting the small things. Like going over 420 touches without fumbing or dropping a pass. Not one.

That’s impressive. Oh yeah, and this:
DZ: After lining up at fullback in the All-Star game, what position do you see yourself playing in the NFL?

FS: To me, it doesn’t matter. I can play fullback. I love special teams. So hopefully I’ll be playing that as well. There’s a youtube clip of me playing kicker in high school and making the tackle on a kickoff. Punt and kickoff team were my two favorites. It was my time to get to hit somebody instead of people trying to hit me. I can play fullback and help the team in short yardage situations. I can step in and play tailback if I’m needed. I think I can fit in three roster spots as far being a fullback, tailback, and a special teams guy. I think I’ll be able to contribute and help the team win in any way I’m needed.

FB, RB and loves special teams. Could you ask for more. And he comes off and a real stand up guy.

The only way we get Summers...

…is if we take him in the 5th and beat Pitt to it. They’ve show the most interest. Just once I’d like to see the 49ers scouts, or better position coaches on the forefront of these “diamond in the rough” type guys. Theres no question why Pitt are champions and we are not.

If we bomb this year I say we can Scotty and staff and go after Mike Holmgren.

Visits....

… could imply interest, but I don’t think it necessarily implies an interest to draft the player. Teams could just be doing their homework so they can call his agent first after the draft is over. He’s an intriguing prospect, for sure, though.

by sfgfan on Apr 10, 2009 9:36 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

true...

…but you don’t hear about the 49ers being interested

I’m not an MC Scotty fan. He seems to have the same Mike Nolanish protectionism thing going on. There doesn’t seem to be much of a free exchange of ideas between head office and the coaching staff. So much so that its been written about.

I think we need new ownership and a new GM, but thats getting off topic.

by 49ersCAN on Apr 10, 2009 10:18 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Really?

There was basically ONE report about a single coaching assistant that had sour grapes and now it’s a rampant problem?

Also, the 49ers have ALWAYS done a good job about hiding their interests about players. Unlike other teams who’s got tons of leaks about interest (or even who showed up at a Pro Day), the 49ers hardly have any of that. Not to mention, the reasoning Singletary (or was it McCloughan?) had for being a little more tight lipped is because they had to identify a leak in the organization.

Maybe you’re sour about the Brandon Jones signing? If you are, then that’s a valid gripe. However, I don’t think that should be propelled to an epidemic of non-communication.

Remember, Singletary himself is a very private man. The media (or at least Maiocco and Barrows) is already anticipating less access to things 49ers this offseason (i.e. OTAs and training camp). McCloughan’s been a constant, so Singletary’s the change here. I’d say Singletary has as much influence on the “privateness” of team affairs, if not more, than Scott McCloughan.

In any case, to the fanbase’s dislike, the offseason is the time that a team needs to be secretive the most. I don’t blame the head coach or GM for wanting to maintain that.

by sfgfan on Apr 10, 2009 11:06 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

you make some valid points but...

…where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Fact is that by Scottie’s own admission, we rely on regional scouts. These scouts not only need to know what a good CB looks like but also what a good SS, FS, OLB, ILB, DE, DT, NT, QB, HB, FB, WR, TE, OT, OG…you can see where I’m going with this. They are somewhat of a “jack of all trades/masters of none”. Jerry Sullivan has always been touted as one of the best WR coaches in the league so why wouldn’t utilize him? He obviously wants to give his input and I gotta think he knows more then about WR’s then a regional scout whos looking at all positions. Also the fact that you piss your coaches of and miss out on the benefits of having your coaches personally investmented in players they’ve been a part in bringing to the organization. You end up getting the exact opposite.

and...

…just look at the numbers, how many 1st rounders have these guys blown? Balmer may come around one day but regardless, he was not at all a good pick(can’t get to the plane let alone the QB).

A 1st rounder should earn a starting job witihn his first season and have a positive impact on the season. How many first rounders can we say about that?

This is not at all a reflection on Sing, I love the guy and want he coaching this team for a long time.

Jerry Sullivan.

I’m not really much of a Sullivan fan. I understand he’s one of the most well regarded position coaches in the NFL, but he hasn’t really produced a whole lot. I’m not saying it’s all his fault, but he IS the position coach. Also, from what I understand, he’s been a BIG reason why the young WRs don’t hit the field. He holds the gate key and only lets people through when he feels they deserve it.

Remember when Lelie was sidelined week after week even though the 49ers WRs were sucking? I think it was Sullivan who didn’t like his route running ability (which was never his strength to begin with, as he’s more of a let him fly kind of guy), thus keeping him on the bench. I understand wanting your players to know it all before hitting the field, but some players need to play to learn.

No rb first round!

I have read in several places that 49ers might draft a rb in the first round. No thank you! We have Gore. He is 25. He does get a beating but the first round! We have waaay bigger needs than rb. RB can be addressed in any round. It will probably happen 3rd or later. It bothers me so much when people say we need a rb first round. Just because you are a run first team doesn’t mean you run every play. If we draft a rb first I will lose all faith in McCloughan. If we trade down then I don’t care as much Iif we a rb but that isn’t very likely. Go T/DE/OLB not RB 1st round!

Just another 7-round 9er mock.

Here’s my current thinking on a 9er draft based upon my prioritized needs list and using NFL DraftScout and MadDog’s bigboards. I present two scenarios, the first without a 1st-round trade and the second with a tradedown from #10, which is more likely than a trade-up, imho.

Prioritized needs:
OT,CB/FS,RB,DE/OLB,WR,NT,ILB,QB, RDE,TE, FB

Where I differ with many here is that I don’t see the need to draft a pass rusher early. Lawson is trying out for the position this year and Jay Moore is returning from IR to compete for the job. So if we draft another pass rusher, the team will have three players competing for the spot – which is enough.

Scenario #1:
1-#10 M. Oher/A. Smith OT – solidifying the OL is the most important team need.
2-#43 Shonn Greene/A. Brown RB – either of these players would be a decent 2nd back, hopefully resulting in a relentless and powerful running game.
3-#74 Martin/Mickens/Barnes/Francies CB – W. Harris can’t last forever and the team is thin at this position. The 3rd is packed with good CB prospects.
4-#111 C. Brown/D. Viekune DE/OLB – here’s our pass rusher. I like Brown because he’s produced on the field.
5a-#146 McKinley/Wallace/Guice/Kelly WR – I see McKinley and Wallace as field stretchers, Dudley Guise as a potential #1, and Aaron Kelly as a great possession receiver. Of the four, only Kelly could make the active roster this year, imho.
5b-#171 Sammie Lee Hill NT – massive and quick, but very, very raw.
6-#184 Mike Reilly QB – has outstanding quickness, 64% completion rate over 4 years, is very smart, and has an indomitable will to win.
7a-#219 Antonio Appleby ILB – a natural born TED LB with the length and strength to take on the big guys.
7b-#244 Michael Ray Garvin KR/CB – Alan Rossum’s replacement.

TRADE DOWNS: the most likely trade for the 9ers is if Sanchez makes it to #10 – the Broncos could then trade their #12 and 3rd round pick. Next most likely is a trade with the Lions if they pass on Sanchez or Stafford at #1 and take an OT, which is what I would advise. They can then trade back up to get a QB using their #20 + #33 picks, which would be very sweet for the 9ers and is the scenario I deal with here.

Scenario #2: trade-down w/DET for #20,#33
1-#20 William Beatty OT – can play RT & back up LT
2a-#33 Ron Brace NT
2b-#43 Shonn Greene/A. Brown RB
3-#74 Martin/Mickens/Barnes/Francies CB
4-#111 C. Brown/D. Viekune DE/OLB
5a-#146 McKinley/Wallace/Guice/Kelly WR
5b-#171 Dan Gronkowski TE huge blocker who can catch.
6-#184 Mike Reilly QB
7a-#219 Antonio Appleby ILB
7b-#244 Michael Ray Garvin KR/CB

Beatty might be somewhat of a reach at #20, as is Brace, but the positional value outweighs other considerations, imho.

Niners and Broncos

If Sanchez is available at 10, then he’ll be available at #12. The Broncos would have no need to trade with the Niners.

Any indication that the Niners would trade down from #10 is confirmation that they don’t want Sanchez in the first place. Basically the Broncos could just call the Niners bluff and dare them to take him.

One other interesting possibility that I haven’t seen mentioned is that the Niners could actually draft Sanchez at #10 with the intent of trading his rights to another team like the Broncos. It would be a very bold move, but one that could pay off huge given that the team would now have leverage. Leverage is everything in a trade scenario and right now they have very little leverage at #10.

Draft and trade....

… is an extremely rare scenario. It’s not rare just because no one thinks of it. It’s probably rare because of the extremely high risk the team would have to take. First of all, there’s a HUGE risk in taking a player you probably didn’t want because you think some other team wants him. What if no other team turns out to be interested? You’re left with a pick, while may be useful, isn’t exactly what you needed in the first place. Not only that, you then have missed out on taking a different player that may have actually helped your team.

Secondly, what if they don’t trade you value for that player? As is somewhat the consensus, this year’s two first round QBs (three if you count Freeman) aren’t really “sure things” as previous drafts have had. What if in the end, the only team competing to trade for Sanchez after he’s drafted is the Broncos? What motivation would they have to offer up any kind of value if the 49ers don’t want Sanchez (which by offering him up for trade, they would be signifying).

Basically, if the 49ers want to draft Sanchez, I would probably be okay with it (as it’s probably better than taking a RT at #10, which I have a big issue with). However, if they draft Sanchez, it better be because they intend to make him their QB of the future. If they draft him and immediately try to dangle him as trade bait, then McCloughan has some serious issues.

by sfgfan on Apr 10, 2009 1:46 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would like to see the top 20 on the 49ers draft board and compare to everyone's thinking

If Sanchez is available at # 10 and the 49ers have him as the BPA at that point then they could draft him. They aren’t drafting in the 1st for need.

I think the Broncos, Tampa and the Jets all realize that they 49ers went to Sanchez’ pro day and also invited him up here so there is a potential interest. The Jets NEED a QB real bad and if they felt they could get Sanchez at # 10 for their 1st and 2nd rd picks they could easily go for it. Sanzhez played in a pro style offense. Denver would also realize that other teams below them have that simular interest and could move up to 10 from their 18th spot knowing the 49ers may be ok with drafting Sanchez or trading down. For anyone of those teams to trade up to the top nine it will cost them more.

I would like to see the top 20 on the 49ers draft board

As would anyone else. Their draft board never makes it out the doors at HQ, even after the draft is over. Once in a while you’ll hear a coach mention something about “we had so and so here, but he was gone” or something like that that hints at the board, but no one ever sees it.

A trade is definitely possible, and I’m not writing it off. I just don’t think the 49ers are as serious about taking Sanchez as many others (experts, scouts, and fans) think they are. As I’ve mentioned previously, if I were the Broncos (or the Jets), I’d dare the 49ers to take Sanchez and deal with it if they do. If the 49ers take Sanchez and suddenly start to shop him, he will definitely not want to sign with them, thus making the 49ers HAVE to trade him. The 49ers will not take that kind of a risk.

"if I were the Broncos (or the Jets), I’d dare the 49ers to take Sanchez and deal with it if they do"

I agree. That is the most likely scenario come draft day. The Niners will have to hope that the Redskins, Jets, Bucs, or Lions will want to trade up or just take the best player available at #10.

Rays in '08.... Desmond Jennings - the breakout continues.....

by youALREADYknow on Apr 10, 2009 3:08 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think that if the 49ers draft Sanchez at # 10 they will keep him.

I also think that the teams that tried to get Cutler, Washington, Jets, Tampa could very well assume that the niners won’t trade after signing him unless there is a trade plan created like what San Diego and New York had a few years ago with Manning and Rivers. So basically, I think it is a better than 50 % chance that if one of those teams, and Denver feels it needs Sanchez they will try to trade up. Whether it is to # 10 or not is anyone’s guess.

I really don’t care if they take Crabtree, Sanchez, Oher, Smith, Brown or Raji at that point as any would be a good pick, it all depends on who they have rated highest and who is still available.

Anyone really think McCloughan will draft Sanchez?

MoCloughan already has a big black mark next to his name with Alex Smith, and everyone in the league knows it. So now we have another weak QB class with another spread offense QB, Stafford, as the top pick, and Sanchez, who played in a pro set and did well, but only has one year on the books. After being burned by A. Smith, does anyone seriously think McCloughan will take another shot at QB in the first round? Especially when he’s still hoping to rescue Alex from oblivion? I really doubt it.

But here’s something to consider about why Denver would trade up from #12 to #10 to get Sanchez; to keep DET, and TB from trading into #10 to get their QB. I’m sure that Mike Nolan has explained why the 9ers won’t take Sanchez to his new team, but that doesn’t remove the distinct possibility that one of the other teams will make a move, with Detroit being the most likely trade partner. The Jets won’t make a move because they have no picks, except future picks, with which to trade – no 2nd this year. The Bucs may be content to just jump ahead of the Jets to get Freeman because they can see both the Broncos and Lions able to cut better deals than they can due to extra darft choices this year. So I still see the most likely trade being a jump from #12 to #10 by the Broncos using their #12 and #79 picks, followed by the Lions trading up to #8 or #10 using their #20 and #33 picks.

by MontanaPass on Apr 12, 2009 11:33 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree that the most likely scenerio would be for McC to trade # 10 if Sanchez were available.

There is too much value for us to turn down and extra 2nd rd pick. I also agree that Denver and Detroit would be the most likely to make that trade. If Detroit does not take Stafford at # 1, they know Sanchez will not fall to their # 20 and maybe not even get Freeman there. Sanchez played only one year but it was pro style.

I would not be heartbroken to see Detroit or Denver trade up to get our number 10. Of course I am way too greedy and this is all imaginary so how about if Denver trades their # 12 and # 79 to the 49ers for our # 10 and then Detroit trades their # 20 and # 33 to the 9ers for their # 10 and a 4th or 5th round pick to pick up Crabtree or Raji.
A man can dream !!!!!! ;-)

I think Raji goes to the Jags or Packers.

I think Crabtree goes to the Seahawks because they think they can win this year with a little help on offense. And Raji goes to the Jags because they need a DT desperately, and if the Jags don’t take him, the Packers almost certainly will because they’re switching to a 3-4 defense this year and are missing a stud NT – they already have the LBs for the job. My guess is that the Packers take OT M. Oher if Raji is gone – they need a LT more than a pass rusher, too. Leaving the 9ers with no OTs left and probably going for Malcolm Jenkins, which would be fine with me.

From reading how much a lot of us disagree with the opinions of others It is a good thing we all aren't the GM

Of course, after the draft, we could always look back and see who would have had the best draft and maybe one better than the 49ers draft is viewed.

I think the only common things I have seen is that most would agree that if the 49ers could trade back and get another 2nd or more they would like that. I don’t think there are more than a handful of can’t miss players in this draft. Most of them have a downside that could make their pick a bad one.
What is Crabtree’s foot doesn’t heal correctly.
What if Orakpo or Brown can’t handle is as a OLB (can’t cover).
What if Sanchez or Stafford aren’t up to handling the NFL
What if, like it was with Montana or Brady, a late round QB is the best on the board. I am thinking someone like Mike Reilly here.

Here's a "can't miss" player for your consideration.

Michael Ray Garvin. Florida St, KR/CB. 5-8, 174lb, 4.27 – 40. He’s a kick return specialist who also plays CB. He has world-class speed, has broken all Florida St return records, and actually did well at CB. My guess is he’ll go in the late 7th or as an UDFA. Watch his highlight reel and be amazed at how quick and elusive this kid is. He will do very well in the NFL and could turn out to be another Devin Hester. And this is likely Alan Rossum’s last year. These specialists are the guys to look for in the late rounds if one wants a player who can actually make the team and contribute.

I like Mike Reilly,

but he is a shotgun qb, mostly. I would like getting him to sit behind Shaun Hill though and hopefully making the transition. 6’3 220 is great size for an NFL qb.

great size?

I think 6’3 220 is pretty average, 6’6 250 is “great” size.

Mel "The Gel" Kiper vs. Mike "The Mock" Mayock

I remember this from last year…good stuff right there…Kiper defeated Mayock in 7-4 TKO decision.

I love all

The time and effort people put into their own draft projections. Imagine the productivity and energy that is channeled into draft analysis going towards, I don’t know, building a new frikkin stadium already.

No one ( i mean everyone outside the ‘loop’) can predict all the trades that are likely to go down. Having said that, we should trade up. No wait trade down, trade down definitely.

How’s this, take the best player or trade available when it gets to the draft. I trust Coach (haven’t been able to say that for a while).

Everyone can live with this mock
  1. Vontae Davis- nickle back slash 3rd down SS for blitzin and man coverage abilities
     2 Cody Brown OLB UCONN
2 from Jets 9 only team that would give up 1 and 2 for Sanchez-Ramses Barden
3 Rashard Jennings- who gave up the spot to McCoy in PITT
4 Sammie Lee Hill- as many teams that are running the 3-4 he may not be here
5 Antone Smith RB- try him on special teams or let him sit a few seasons can’t miss guy
5 Mike Reilly- Sing prefers mobile QB’s
    6 Antonio Appleby ILB

Not me -

I think drafting at least ONE offensive lineman is probably a good idea.

by Gob on Apr 19, 2009 10:57 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Indeed

Nothing says Smashmouth like taking NO offensive linemen…oh, wait—what?
I’m down with trading down, just not for mini-VD. One case of VD is enough for these Niners.

From Day-Drew
The 49ERS should trade their first round pick for Julius Peppers or Anquan Boldin. If they dont trade for players they should trade their first round pick, like for example the rams first round pick next year and this years second round pick.Rams next year are probably going to have the worst record next year and we could get the first pick and get a very great talented QB like Sam Bradford, Tim Teebow, and Colt McCoy.

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

by howtheyscored on Apr 20, 2009 9:33 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Wow.

The ultimate Madden scenario. Lets force a trade with the division rivals for their second best WR who can be a #1 on most teams. If that doesn’t work, lets force a super high draft pick on a division rival so that the team isn’t saddled with a perceived “weak” number 10 pick.

by sfgfan on Apr 21, 2009 10:49 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

My ideal scenario

SF trades #10(R1) and #146(R5) to WAS for #17(R1) and #80(R3)

#17(R1):OT Michael Oher
#43(R2): WR Ramses Barden
#74(R3): FS Rashad Johnson
#80(R3): RB Andre Brown
#111(R4): DT/NT Vaughn Martin or Coye Francis
#171(R5): DE Matt Shaughnessy or NT Roy Miller
#184(R6): OG Travis Bright or OG Cedric Dockery
#219(R7): ILB Reginald Walker or QB Rhett Bomar
#244(R7): Bear Pascoe TE or RB Frank Summers, UNLV

Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

RE: Oher

I don’t like Oher much at 10 but I do like him at 17. Although it might be tough for him to slide past the Bills after their trading of Peters.

Final Mock - 4/22/09

I’m done mocking for this year, and here’s the result, which includes five different scenarios deriving from the alternatives available in the 1st round. Scenario #1 is my preferred outcome because it, a)solidifies the OL for the next 6-10 years, b)gets us another top RB, c)gets us a top CB prospect, and, d) gets us a good NT prospect, a TED LB, a replacement for Rossum, and a QBOF in Reilly.

Scenario #1:
1-#10 M. Oher/A. Smith OT
2-#43 Andre Brown RB
3-#74 S. Martin/M. Mickens/K. Barnes CB
4-#111 C. Brown/D. Viekune DE/OLB
5-#146 A. Kelly/K. McKinley WR
5-#171 Vaughn Martin NT
6-#184 Antonio Appleby ILB
7-#219 Mike Reilly QB
7-#244 Michael Ray Garvin KR/CB

Scenario #2:
1-#10 Aaron Maybin/Brian Orakpo DE/OLB
2-#43 Phil Loadholt RT
3-#74 S. Martin/M. Mickens/K. Barnes CB
4-#111 Kory Sheets RB
5-#146 A. Kelly/K. McKinley WR
5-#171 Vaughn Martin NT
6-#184 Antonio Appleby ILB
7-#219 Mike Reilly QB
7-#244 Michael Ray Garvin KR/CB

Scenario #3:
1-#10 Malcolm Jenkins CB/FS
2-#43 Phil Loadholt RT
3-#74 Rashad Jennings RB
4-#111 C. Brown/D. Viekune DE/OLB
5-#146 A. Kelly/K. McKinley WR
5-#171 Vaughn Martin NT
6-#184 Antonio Appleby ILB
7-#219 Mike Reilly QB
7-#244 Michael Ray Garvin KR/CB

Scenario #4:
1-#10 B.J. Raji DT
2-#43 Phil Loadholt RT
3-#74 S. Martin/M. Mickens/K. Barnes CB
4-#111 C. Brown/D. Viekune DE/OLB
5-#146 A. Kelly/K. McKinley WR
5-#171 Javarris Williams RB
6-#184 Antonio Appleby ILB
7-#219 Mike Reilly QB
7-#244 Michael Ray Garvin KR/CB

Scenario #5:
1-#10 Michael Crabtree WR
2-#43 Phil Loadholt RT
3-#74 S. Martin/M. Mickens/K. Barnes CB
4-#111 C. Brown/D. Viekune DE/OLB
5-#146 Vaughn Martin NT
5-#171 Javarris Williams RB
6-#184 Antonio Appleby ILB
7-#219 Mike Reilly QB
7-#244 Michael Ray Garvin KR/CB

I believe, based on their rankings at NFLDraftScout and Maddog49er’s bigboard, that each of these players will be when the 9ers are at bat.

NT Vaughn Martin from Western Ontario is the surprise pick here. He has been shooting up boards and I think he’ll land in the 5th somewhere. Perfect 2-gapper who needs some coaching up and getting used to the level of competition.

My final pre-draft mock(s)

After watching certain players re-ranked at various sites and assuming they will be gone by our selection, here’s my final pre-draft mock as long as no further trades happen before the draft:

1-10: DE/OLB Brian Orakpo, Texas
2-43: DT Ron Brace, Boston College
3-74: RB Rashad Jennings, Liberty
4-111: FS Darcel McBath, Texas Tech
5-146: WR Aaron Kelly, Clemson
5-171: ILB Frantz Joseph, Florida Atlantic
6-184: OT Cornelius Lewis, Tennessee State
7-219: QB Brian Hoyer, Michigan State
7-244: DE/OLB Phillip Hunt, Houston

With trade: #1-10 and #5-146 to NYJ for #1-17 and #2-52
1-17: CB Sean Smith, Utah
2-43: OT Phil Loadholt, Oklahoma
2-52: DE/OLB Lawrence Sidbury, Richmond
3-74: RB Rashad Jennings, Liberty
4-111: OLB Jason Williams, Western Illinois
5-171: DT Terrance Knighton, Temple
6-184: WR Dominique Edison, Stephen F. Austin
7-219: QB Brian Hoyer, Michigan State
7-244: WR Jamarko Simmons, Western Michigan

Guys I’d love to see in a 49ers uniform, but don’t fall into the area of our picks:
OG Herman Johnson, LSU – Absolute beast in run blocking with a mean streak
CB Sean Smith, Utah – Big, physical cornerback who can cover both tall and fast WR’s
WR Ramses Barden, Cal Poly – Huge red zone threat with stick-um hands, but stock rising perhaps too high
DE Michael Johnson, GA Tech – Long, explosive athlete who has high potential
WR Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech – no comment necessary

Rays in '08.... Desmond Jennings - the breakout continues.....

Mine

1. Jennings CB (BPA)
2. Shon Green RB
3. Cody Brown PRush / or Barwin (prob gone tho)
4. Darcel McBath S / or Sherrod Martin (prob gone tho)
5. Best available OLine

5b Scott McGee QB if he’s there.

. . . . .that’s as far as I can go.
