Golden Nuggets: So begin the OTAs
It was a slow and quiet weekend for the 49ers, thus a continued dearth of links. However, today is the start of the 49ers organized team activities. The team gets 14 sessions and according to Maiocco, the 49ers schedule of OTAs will be today through Thursday, June 1 and 2, June 8-11 and June 15-16. Additionally, the team will have a mandatory minicamp June 5-7.
As we mentioned yesterday, Eddie DeBartolo will be the first "inductee" into the 49ers Hall of Fame. Barrows, Sando and Scout.com had quick thoughts on the induction. (Multiple Sources)

A look at the top 10 rivalries in the NFL heading into 2009. Nobody from the NFC West is included. I definitely think the NFL would love to see the 49ers and Cardinals develop a legit rivalry. Although it's hard to have rivals when you're struggling, I think the 49ers divisional rivalries are solid enough to entertain the fans. At the very least, the fans of each team can get after each other pretty well. (SportingNews.com)

Barrows discusses some of the intriguing roster battles. This is down here because I stumbled across it at a different site. Normally his stuff is at sacbee.com. Anyways, enjoy. (Syracuse.com)
And finally, a Maryland newspaper discusses former Terp QB Shaun Hill's battle for the starting QB position. (Carroll County Times)

Rivalries
I am very entertained by the Arizona vs. 49ers rivalry. Every time we play each other, you know its going to be a dog fight, at least over the last 3 years it has been so. I think this next year is going to be even more intense because of the last minute loss on the goal line last year (one of my favorite games of the season btw, it was extremely exciting).
Its a good rivalry I think for a few reasons:
One, is that we cant rush the QB, so its safe for Kurt, who never seems to get hurt in our games (hmmmm…), to throw to Larry and Anquan, making for some fun scores (ala the last minute jump catch in traffic by Larry in the endzone)
Frank seems to have at least decent games where he doesnt get hurt against them (this year 14 attempts 96 yds, 41 yd long 1TD 4rec 55yds 22 yd long for first game).
But mostly, it just because it always seems to be a dog fight. It comes down to the wire in many of the games, but even if it doesnt, both teams play with a new fire. I’m already excited for next years battle!
my favortie headline..
in this post is the one that has the tidbit of 49er information. It’s my favorite, not because of the 49er news but the Oakland Raider section on the page lol.
Raiders rookie receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey had trouble holding onto the ball at the team’s minicamp. Veteran quarterback Jeff Garcia pulled Heyward-Bey aside to offer encouragement.
This is what Jeff said to Darrius. “Don’t worry, you’ll eventually catch a pass, but if not just call Mr. Biletnikoff to see if he has anymore of that Stickum” lol
