Pisa Tinoisamoa
The Rams announced that they released Pisa Tinoisamoa today. I don't know a whole lot about him, but I'm wondering if he fits with the current defense? He's relatively young (28 by kickoff this season), so would he be able to fit in at the TED for a few years next to Willis?
Of course, he was cut because his salary cap figure was over $4M, and with Spikes only commanding probably just over $2M, the cost may be a little higher. That alone may not make him fit.
I was wondering if anyone knows if he's more like the slashing playmaker that Willis is, or is he stout enough to take on blockers?

Slight update
After poking around the Rams’ SBN site, I noticed someone saying he weighed in around 220. If there is any truth to that, he definitely doesn’t fit into the 49ers plans at any LB spot. Then again, a lot of the Rams fans on that site are pretty delusional.

Yeah.
That’s what prompted me to put up the FanShot. It isn’t uncommon, though for players to play below their “listed” weight. I’d imagine 240 is getting pretty small for a TED, so if he’s playing lighter than that (as the Rams fan seems to think), he’s definitely too small.

injury reserve
Espn also said that he was on injured reserve for the past two seasons… i think his salary is too expensive for him to be chillin’ on injured reserve.. it seems his size has caused some injuries.
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.

IR
I don’t know. It looks like he played all 16 games last season (and put up career bests in most of the important statistical categories for a LB). It looks like he missed games in ‘06 and ’07, though. He definitely seems small. He looks smaller than Spikes, that’s for sure.

Ah, sorry I accidentally posted…..
I was going to say that he belongs in a 4-3 defense.

yeah, he's a very good 4-3 LB
he’s a run in chase kind of guy, despite his listed weight. I think the niners could make him work in a 3-4 but I don’t see it happening. I have no idea why the Rams released him, he’s been one of the very few playmakers and bright spots on the team the last couple years, like a poor man’s lofa tatupu
