Defense only Fantasy League (Revised)

Defense only league for those who want to play with the other half of the NFL

Only IDP's, lineup realistic of NFL lineup (DE's, DT's, LB's, CB's, S's) I realized I know a heck of lot more offensive players than defensive, and I think its because of fantasy football. It's a new idea this year to try and balance that out.

I'm thinking 10-12 teams, but it can expand if more people want to join. It's also open to the public, only so that it will fill up right before the draft if its not already.

Draft time is August 9, 715pm West coast. (Subject to change if majority of league votes)

*Yahoo! allowed 4 fantasy teams per ID.

Points seem to be off...

A tackle is worth one while a sack is only worth 3?

Assuming that a sack is worth 4 points (1 for tackle, 3 for sack);
For someone to be as productive as Willis has been over the last 2 years they would need to have recorded…

That guy making sacks is still making tackles throughout the year too

Maybe sacks are a little undervalued, but you cant start 11 LB’s. You need DE’s, and there points will come from sacks mostly

Based on current settings

Last year the top 3 LBS were

Willis - 169
James Harrison - 164
Demarcus Ware - 161.50

2 of those guys relied on sacks for most of their points. I can live with that balance

If a guy has

3 sacks and no other tackles, He’d have 12 points ( im counting the sacks as tackles
—thats rare not to have any more tackles

an LB would need at least 12 tackles to match that but more likely a line like this:

9 solo, 6 assist- 15 total tackles

Wouldn’t you say those lines have similar value to a team?

true, but how often

does a guy have 3 sacks in a game? if you did that every week you would end the year with 48 sacks, and the current record is 22.5.

if a linebacker has 15 tackles every week he'd have 240 tackles

That’s not the point. The point is that there is balance between tackles and sacks, and OLB’s and ILB’s- becuz people that get sacks also get some tackles. The final fantasy rankings of last year illustrate my point that a fantasy LB( since linebacker is the only position where you could consider tackles being weighted too heavily) could be good either by getting a lot of sacks, a lot of tackles, or both.

i’ve only ever done autopick drafts; how long do live drafts usually take?

depends on the size and rosters,

Normally about 60-90 minutes

also if people dont show up and end up autopicking it goes faster

I'm in 3 yahoo leagues already

and if I join this one, I’m at max capacity. I have to pass (unless the official NN league isn’t with yahoo?)

I decided against playing in a public league, so I’ll give this one a go if NN isn’t going with yahoo for the main game.

Understandable

This is my 3rd yahoo league, and I’m still expecting a fourth from high school buddies to pop up sometime.

I stopped doing public this year as well, as custom leagues are always more competitive, and it gives you a chance to try different settings and league sizes

Last year the NN league was on FleaFlicker which I think is run by AOL. Not a bad site at all
