Golden Nuggets: Could lose connection at any time..
Morning, morning. James here, reporting your Nuggets again... I just spent the last hour trying to get this router to work. Seriously, if you folks ever have connection issues I'm going to easily bet its because of your router. So, because this connection could die at any time, I'm going to make this as quick as I possibly can. Either way, I don't have a ton of links today, at first glance two or three, but I'll see what I can find for you. So, enjoy the few links you get. I swear, I spoil you guys...
Just some records Vernon Davis holds at his college. Impressive, right? Wish he'd be impressive on the Niners.. (SacBee.com)
A smooth transition to Jimmy Raye. I know I should be excited we have the personnel, but I just cant have good feelings about our offense under someone who's been unproven for so long. (PressDemocrat.com)
Team employees told to take a week off. [site decorum] economy. (SFGate.com)
Samuel Lam takes a look at the 49ers' week 11 opponent next season, the Green Bay Packers. Do be sure to click around there and check out the rest of the previews, which I've been ignorant to during these Nuggets posts. If I have time I'll update the comments with all of them, unless he wants to do it himself, feel free to Mr. Lam. (Examiner.com)

Unproven?
Jimmy Raye first coached for the 49ers in 1977. He has worked under Marty Schottenheimer, John Robinson, Norv Turner, Eric Mangini, etc. He developed Tony Gonzalez and was the coach of a guy named Eric Dickenson. Unproven? I’d say your writing ability is more unproven than Jimmy’s coaching ability. Unproven! Tell that to every owner who has hired him over the past 32 years.

Should I take offense to that?
Well honestly, I do. For one, you turned that into a personal thing and insulted my “writing” even though these are simply a daily compilation of links, NOT a news article. You are NO judge of my talent and ability as a writer. As for the matter at hand…
Look at the guy’s stats. He’s been given a team over and over and never served to be a great offensive coordinator. He’s unproven because I cant see it being much different for the 49ers. I’m excited for things like say, Vernon Davis, but don’t you insult my intelligence and my knowledge of this man and my Niners. He is a much more suited for our talent pool than Martz was, but when I look at this career I see mediocrity overall.
This stems from me sick of mediocrity, I want a quick fix with an offensive genius, and I know it wont happen. But Jimmy Raye isn’t the kind of OC that gives reason to be incredibly excited.
I apologize for attacking
your writing ability. That was wrong. It’s your conclusions that I disagree with and for several reasons. What you don’t see when you look over his career is that the NFL was not a breeding ground for coaching opportunities for blacks. JImmy Raye would never have been offered the “plum” jobs, but he has been consistently praised by other coaches and players over the years.
Hill was ecstatic when he saw the playbook which is extensive. Raye doesn’t suffer from a fragile ego like Martz and is really a players’ coach. With this team and this roster, I feel Raye has finally gotten the opportunity to take a playoff caliber team to the brass ring.

I really do see what you're saying
His experience is something that we need right now, if anything he’s a stabilizing factor and I DO feel like he can do nothing but help this team. I don’t know exactly WHAT my point is, but it is mostly along the lines of: I don’t see “Jimmy Raye” and think “championship.” I’m not excited by him at this point. I really hope nobody mistakes that for me disliking him or wanting him to fail. I sincerely hope our coaches and players have nothing but good things to say about him come 2010.
Green Bay Packers
I will be at that game this year and cant wait to wear my Ronnie Lott jersey into Cheesehead Field.
Examiner opponent previews
You can just go to the main page and the links are there.
It’s been interesting to hear die-hard fans of the opposition rip me for my opinions on their team. Granted, some of them are right on some things and I did get a little sloppy on some of the previews. But overall, it’s a nice breakdown of the teams the 49ers have to face.

Raye finally gets his opportunity!
A proven OC is a head coach somewhere with some team now. What I like is the fact that I am hearing coach Singletary and players have high marks for this man and am looking forward to seeing him in action too.
