Shaun Hill in a nutshell

When I was at training camp last week I took a few pictures.  For this particular one, after practice Shaun Hill had changed out of his football gear before heading off for lunch.  I think this sums up the man in a nutshell and there's not much else that I need to add to this.  Apologies for the shadows on it.

Love this

He’s just a fun loving guy, there is pretty much no doubt that he plays for the love of the game, not for money. Gotta love that.

Plus, there is no doubt he’s 100% steroid free! Haha

Hill is 29

And he should start ! Although when the season starts, I ‘m sure the Brass ( monkeys ) will tell Sing to start Smith. He’s their Million Dollar Baby. Most of us already know how Jed and McC feel about Smith. I know I’ll caught heat on this one. But it doesn’t changes the truth.

He’s their Million Dollar Baby.

Smith’s contract pretty much the same as Hill’s now.

My pessimism goes to the point of suspecting the sincerity of the pessimists.

No it isn't !

It’s around $6.5 million for Two years.

by LASVEGASNINER on Aug 13, 2009 2:12 PM PDT up reply actions

If you ignore the bonus money...

… that Smith already has (i.e. signing bonuses are paid up front), the two player’s base salaries are around $2M a year for the next two years.

by sfgfan on Aug 13, 2009 2:22 PM PDT up reply actions

You cann't disregard it

It all counts at the end of the day.

by LASVEGASNINER on Aug 13, 2009 2:46 PM PDT up reply actions

That's kind of silly.

Yes, he’s gotten that money in the past. The 49ers, however, don’t have the luxury making decisions based on the past right now. If Smith gets cut right now, he gets no additional money. The same goes for Shaun Hill. They are basically on the same footing for the next two years. To think otherwise is kind of ridiculous.

100% Steriod, Free

Maybe Hill’s a pro-bono dealer for MLB and he was going to lunch with Manny.

Win the inning.

Is it just me or does Hill look like Rod Blagojevich (sp)?

We all knew this,or should have !

“Mike Singletary says not to read anything into it, but go ahead and read something into it. Shaun Hill will start at quarterback for the 49ers in Friday’s exhibition season opener against the Denver Broncos, which is as it should be and clearly establishes the team’s pecking order at the position, even if nobody wants to admit it.

In a decision that was expected but delayed until Thursday, Singletary announced that Hill indeed will be the first quarterback on the field when the Niners unveil their 2009 product against the Broncos at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

Singletary says he doesn’t want the move to be construed as any kind of indication that Hill is winning the competition at quarterback with Alex Smith, even though Hill is.

Hill, as it stands today at this moment, is San Francisco’s best quarterback. He should be the team’s starter. And that is why he is.
