Naming our backfield

As the league has shifted to multi back systems in recent years, running backs have been getting nicknames in groups more and more often.  Smash and Dash is always a popular one.  And while Glen Coffee is subject to an insurmountable number of article title puns I think its time we name the niners running back combo.

Star-divide

Glen "Coffee Grinder" has been pounding out the yards and we all know about Frank the Tank.  Kory Sheets is up and coming (and a welcome replacement to Thomas Clayton), but I don't think he qualifies as part of the running back core yet.

So with Frank Gore and Glen Coffee only one nickname comes to mind.

Frank & Beans

I'm sure you can put together the logic that came to that and I may just have to bring a sign with that to the next Niners game.  What do you all think? Any other names you have run across either for the back field or individual backs?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

How many carries do you see Sheets getting this year?

I have a hard time imagining him being much of a factor, but he has looked good so far.

5 per game is all he needs

When he gets better at pass protect, I think he’ll be our best 3rd down back behind Gore and ahead of Robinson. I think in 4 wide formations vs dimes and nickel defenses he can be dangerous. He can be effective after Frank and Beans wear opponents down

True

But I still don’t see him getting 5 carries a game. I think Coffee wil be more in the 5-7 carries a game range. Sheets will get maybe 1-2. Sing has made it clear the Gore will get most of the carries.

I look at him as a 3rd down back

I personally think he’s the best RB we have in open field. I look for him to be on special teams as well, don’t know what the niners coaching staff is thinking, but do you think sheets could go to PS and not be picked up?

EA Sports

I was posting to the Madden creator about the stats they gave Coffee. A Niner fan explained to me that this was the wrong pick and he was going to be a bust. I was trying to convince him that SEC running backs are decent. Plus the niners do a pretty decent job drafting running backs. So I am going to find him and see if how he like his Coffee now.
