Dear Andy Lee,
First let me start by saying I think you are a great punter. Maybe the best we've ever had. That being said I have one little request - when you guys play Dallas this weekend, please hit the score board.....several times. That would really be the greatest thing ever. And I know that if you are punting alot, it means the offense isn't doing its job. But for this one game, I want you to punt a whole bunch. And if for some reason Alex Romero gets a punt, please ask him to do the same.
Sincerely,
Save10

Dear Any Lee, do it for Niners Nation!
Hit the scoreboard so hard that it shuts off in front of Jones face. In fact, tape a grenade to the football so when it hits the board itll blow the damn thing up. Jerry Jones=Cheater

Come on now it'd be easy for the players to be out of the way during warmups.
The whole team could be in on it. It’s all part of the plan. Make Jerry cry in his suite.

He could atleast kick it hard enough thatd it would stick into the screen.
That would be well worth it lol.

I’ve heard that if the ball hits the scoreboard the refs call a “do-over” for the play. Which means Andy needs to hit that thing 8-10 times to really drive the point home and further embarrass Jerry. Do it Andy, you’ll be in NFL Film highlights for the next 50 years.
I wonder how mad Jones will be when Lee hits it the first time, do-over, hits it the second time, do-over, etc. to milk the bejesus out of the clock. Just raise that damn thing, Jerral!
Win the inning.

the problem with the do-over is that the special teams units get gassed

update
from Matt BeeRows latest entry…
“The video board that hangs in the middle of the Cowboys new stadium has been in the news lately, considering that it was peppered with punts before and even during the new stadium’s coming out party last weekend. Punter Andy Lee tried to downplay the storyline with reporters, but someone in the back was trying to egg him on. “Don’t lie – you want to break it,” he shouted. That someone was kicker Joe Nedney. Lee said that most of the time he’ll be aiming for one of the corners and away from the giant video screen. But that doesn’t mean he’ll miss it. “You can try to go right and still hit the ball in the middle,” he said."
He wants it so bad.
In the opener for the $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium last week, Titans punter A.J. Trapasso boomed a ball off the underside of the gigantic video screen.
The scene irritated Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who accused Trapasso of goofing around.
"How high is high if somebody wants to sit there and kick straight up?’’ Jones told reporters.

I dont think i have ever been so excited to watch a football game for the punts!

I played a rather epic game online in Madden
against the Cowboys, in Dallas. The final score was DAL 10 SF 3, and I only had to punt once. On that punt, I adjusted the arrow a little bit higher up than normal and tried hitting the scoreboard but to no avail.
Here’s hoping Andy Lee hits it for real.

The scoreboard...
… doesn’t have a hitbox, I’m guessing.
I think you are correct
I just thought it would be funny to give it an attempt, and I hope the real-life Andy Lee feels the same (even though he’s saying otherwise).

Maybe they'll also "fix" the run blocking AI.
And maybe pigs will fly.
My pessimism goes to the point of suspecting the sincerity of the pessimists.
i think the run blocking AI
is much better than year’s past.
now they need to fix pursuit angles.
by Andrew Davidson on Aug 27, 2009 8:47 PM PDT up reply actions
imho, this is the worst blocking AI ever in a Madden game.
4 out of 7 running plays, at least one of the defensive linemen runs right into the backfield – completely untouched.
Often, the interior linemen will run right past potential blocks in the direction of the rush in order to hopelessly chase down linebackers or defensive backs that aren’t even involved in the play. It’s frustrating as hell when half the plays have your back getting hit immediately after the hand off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRZqyxzRNzo
My pessimism goes to the point of suspecting the sincerity of the pessimists.
i haven't had anything like that happen to me
but then again, I haven’t put together a team of all rookies.
it’s probably got something to do with their awareness ratings, but regardless, that’s hilariously terrible.
by Andrew Davidson on Aug 28, 2009 12:38 AM PDT up reply actions
No.
Eric Heitman does it on nearly every play, and Joe Staley has a special fondess for ignoring defensive ends. It’s not awareness-based.
My pessimism goes to the point of suspecting the sincerity of the pessimists.
that's strange
because I’ve honestly not had this happen to me once (where in year’s past, I can tell you it happened a lot).
In my first season of franchise I averaged over 100 yards per game, and in online games, the blocking seems quite up to par.

I've only played...
… the 360 version for two games or so, but I think running in years past has always been too easy (even on All-Madden or what have you). Madden 10’s running seems a little more difficult. It’s hard to tell if it’s because the blocking AI sucks or if the defensive AI just got too “smart.”
I've been in some forums sorting through other people's take on the blocking in M10...
and there seem to be a lot of people experiencing the issues. Ignored defenders, blockers releasing their man into the hole, power backs that get stood up while running at full speed into backpedaling linebackers, morphing and teleporting linemen …strange things go on with the new physics and AI in this year’s edition.
One of the common arguments in EA’s defense, and the one that bothers me the most, is the one you provided: “I still put up solid rushing stats, so who cares?” I, too, average a steady 4.5ypc and end the season with pretty good rushing totals – but the problem is not the statistics, but the gameplay. I get my average by rushing for carry streaks like -1, -3, 2, -4, 0, 7, -2, 1, 0, 45. As mentioned, the 10 carries average out to 4.5 yards per rush, but the way that it’s accomplished is ridiculous – especially when you consider the fact that 6 of those 10 carries ended with a defensive tackle or D-end walking right on by an offensive lineman (and often the fullback, as well) to crush the halfback less than a second after the hand off or pitch.
That doesn’t create a realistic interpretation of NFL football, no matter what the stats say. I don’t buy Madden every year for a virtual stat generator – I buy it so that I can play football games.
My pessimism goes to the point of suspecting the sincerity of the pessimists.
i agree
but I have yet to see my olinemen completely ignore someone they should be blocking, that’s what I’m saying.
I’ve had times when 7 guys rush and since I only have 5 guys blocking, someone breaks through untouched for a smash, but I’ve yet to see my O-line ignore a player they should be after.
I tend to adjust my line left, right, or aggressive on every play, and that may be the difference. I’m going to keep an eye out for it more, but like I said, I personally haven’t seen the blocking as terrible as it’s been in the past.
I’m wondering if it happens more in offline games than online, because I do a majority of my gaming in online games. I’ve only played one season of a franchise, and probably wasn’t paying attention close enough.
And to clear things up: I certainly am not trying to get EA off the hook for putting out an unfinished product, because again there are some parts of this game that feel unfinished.
And I certainly agree that realistic football isn’t -2 yards, 7 yards, -3 yards, -1 yards, -1 yards, 45 yards (unless Barry Sanders is back). However, I will say this, in my one season of franchise, I very seldom was trapped in the backfield. I tend to call at least 7 different run plays per game, and never go outside twice in a row, or up the middle twice in a row.
The AI cheats so much, that if you call the same run play after 4 pass plays, the CPU knows its coming and stacks up to stop it. I cannot stand the AI’s cheapness, it frustrates me.

well, thanks jerry jones
the NFL had to adopt a rule for you, you [site decorum]: linkage.
what if the punter kicks the ball, and hits the scoreboard, but there was a holding penalty or some sort of penalty on the play? Is it erased too?
by Andrew Davidson on Aug 28, 2009 8:31 AM PDT reply actions
Personal Fouls
Are the only penalties that will be enforced on re-do plays caused by the ball hitting the score board! At least that is what I read today! Holding, illegal man down field, or anything thing else that is not considered a personal foul with be wiped-out on re-do!
