Why would you say that?

That just sucks dude.

Hang your head in shame.

indeed

that’s all kinds of bad, karmically.
Besides, you’ve got to respect Fitzgerald as a player even if he does play for a division rival. If it were TO or a diva-type receiver, it may be different, but…

Morgan breaks through in 2009!

Wishing for something to happen...

and expecting it to aren’t quite the same thing.

My pessimism goes to the point of suspecting the sincerity of the pessimists.

by shlecko on Sep 11, 2009 9:44 AM PDT up reply actions

Not quite the same

But the thought process is pretty much the same.

Fans should not “expect” players to get hurt.
It’s just wrong.

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

What?

Look, the Madden curse thing is pretty silly, but it is a well-known superstition. Remarking on it isn’t wrong.

I've "expected" Eric Chavez to get hurt every year since 2006

…but in no way does that mean that I’ve ever wished harm upon him in any sense of the word.

They’re not the same thing at all.

My pessimism goes to the point of suspecting the sincerity of the pessimists.

It didn’t seem to me like he was wishing it on him. But the curse is what this thread is about. Stop being so sensitive.

Rafael Rodriguez: #8 on our list, tearing up Scottsdale, and has been alive long enough to see the Warriors make the playoffs once.

ummm...

did I wish it? did I plea, pray or beg for it?

No I did not

and even if I wanted to… what does it matter? I can wish and/or hope for anyone to get hurt, its my prerogative to do as I please. There is no shame in it to me, I have no regrets because there is no such thing as right or wrong, just belief and conditioning.

because there is no such thing as right or wrong

Yeah man, I’m not going to argue with someone that doesn’t have morals.

Good day.

by SportsChicken on Sep 11, 2009 12:08 PM PDT up reply actions

what's hilarious about that statement

is that it’s only justified by a certain set of morals, one which values free choice and autonomy—and it simultaneously assumes that this is the only set of morals. In other words, in order for his statement to be true (that there is no such thing as right or wrong), his statement has to be false (i.e. there HAS to be such a thing as right AND wrong).
As for conditioning

Morgan breaks through in 2009!

by grantmp on Sep 11, 2009 12:29 PM PDT up reply actions

ummm..

no there does not HAVE TO BE

everyone chooses their actions/reactions and humans are the ones who have deemed action x or y being subjectively interpreted as being right or wrong; and this determinations

as for conditioning… admitting, or the lack of, is irrelevant because everyone is a product of their environment, especially as a youngin’

but enough of this boring shiznit

Idiot has just cursed our game

If you are not a niners fan, be gone you fool, if you are, you should know better. Fans have to be supersticious about mouthing off since we don’t control the outcome of the game!!

It would be crazy if Fitz missed the second half of the season.

just the two niners games will do

by Steve Young on Sep 11, 2009 11:47 AM PDT up reply actions

I say neither game..

I want us to have an extreme amount of competition. Put our team to the test against last years highest ranked NFC team by position. We are seen as such an underdog that the NFL was considering naming us the San Francisco UnderDogs for week 1.. i kid =)

But in all seriousness I hope that Boldin is healthy for the game too. That way when we go into Arizona and play Mike Singletary’s smash mouth football and come out with a win there will be no excuses from Cardinal fans or any other fans of football that despise the 49ers “such as Raider fans, grrr”. Also that will open up the NFL’s eyes so they can see that the 49ers mean business and can get the job done with a not-so-good pass rush and a decent qb.

but hey… if we lose we will have a great excuse… they were last year’s NFC Champs, what did you expect?? lol
