49ers-Vikings: Final Injury Report

The final injury report for the week was just sent out and there are a couple interesting additions to it.  Vikings WR Percy Harvin has been dealing with some sort of illness and has missed practice the last couple days.  While it's true that rookie receivers take time to develop in the NFL, I think that a receiver with Harvin's skill-set is a bit of a different case.  Aside from being used on short routes he can bust long, Harvin is also a wildcat and reverse option in the rushing attack.  I tend to think this helps a receiver develop in the league, although it's more speculation than anything else on my part.

As for the 49ers, Gore and Coffee are probable, which tends to mean there's virtually no chance they'll miss the game.  I have noticed though that David Baas has been on the injury report the last couple weeks with a variety of ailments (bicep and ankle injuries).  He's struggled a bit and it might be do to some of these nicks and dings.

49ers
Questionable
LB Marques Harris (toe)

Probable
G David Baas (ankle)
LB Ahmad Brooks (knee)
RB Glen Coffee (hip)
RB Frank Gore (ankle)

Vikings
Out

LB Erin Henderson (calf)

Questionable
WR Percy Harvin (illness)
LB E.J. Henderson (shoulder)

Probable
RB Adrian Peterson (back)
TE Jim Kleinsasser (hand)
S Madieu Williams (shoulder)

I hope Harvin feels at least 90% when he plays us this Sunday cuz if we win and Harvin doesn’t play or he isn’t playing to his full ability all of those critics are going to be sayin
“well if Harvin wasn’t sick the Vikings would’ve won easily” stuff like that. If or when we win this game we will be one of the most feared teams to play “that’s what i believe”. AP tried making excuses for his play against us 2 years ago, “I didn’t follow my blocks” and more bull. Kind of funny how you do so good throughout a whole season but when it came to playing the 49ers he didn’t follow his blocks?? Maybe the 49ers are special and have a certain way of puting Peterson in his place. But hey, we’ll see how everything breaks down this Sunday.

Critics will say it anyway

If we beat Minnesota, many critics/experts will say that Minnesota is not as good as they thought. Or SF is lucky Favre had a bad game, or is too old, or secretly injured. Or AP’s one missed day or practice left him rusty. Everything I read says Minesota is more talented, more experienced, at home, home opener for Favre, it’ll be so loud, AP is unstoppable, their run D is inpenatrible, etc. Most if not all these are true. So if SF wins, however it happens by whatever score, it will be earned (just like the first two) and deserving of respect not excuses.

Those that would make excuses call their credibility into question.

He created a FanPost, but I’m moving this in here as a comment to keep things on one page.

Anyone else find the timing odd? 2 days before the game and he’s having “severe migraines”… Is that a euphemism for “scared to play”? He must be scared of going over the middle or something, having Willis nightmares

http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/09/25/vikings-harvin-misses-practice-to-deal-with-migraines-headaches/

So that makes it Harvin, Peterson and Henderson all with some sort of ailment this week before the game… I hear the excuse train coming!

So if the Niners win on Saturday, the excuse will be that the Vikings didn’t have Harvin, Peterson, and Henderson?

Well heck if we win on SATURDAY, then we will be going into Sundays game 3-0 and the vikings will be 2-1. I would be happy with that

Judgment day is coming!

If Harvin is out that is massive

With the threat that Peterson provides, there’s a danger that we load the box with defenders and Favre, whose shoulder is not yet destructed again by the rigours of another season, can unload passes over the top. Harvin reduces that threat. Whereas the same threat exists on our offence in Gore, and yet Bruce, Morgan and now Jones provide Hill with the deep option.

Go Niners. I am not that confident about Sunday, but feel that if we can … just can … go 3-0, that means 4-0 with STL to come, and that would be ridiculously amazing.

but right now we are only

as good as our last game..the report said the WR Harvin was out with illness..i wonder if that means cold or flu..because he might just come out like a jack in the box Surprise on Sunday..

Peterson not a threat!

Peterson is not going to be a threat! With Willis in the middle he will shadow AP all day and shut him down. As far as Farve goes he does not have any great receivers that match up with our shut down dbs. I predict a 21 17 victory over the purple panzies!

Peterson is still a threat

Even with having patrick willis. What if the block willis? You have to think about AP on every play on defense. He is too good at breaking long tds too ignore or not worry about him just because you have patrick willis

Go 49ers
