Around SBN: How Not To Criticize Tom Brady For The Patriots' Loss

Keep your chins up.

I have to say, I was more impressed with your team in today's loss than in last week's crush of my Seahawks.  I'm finally coming around on Singletary, he showed great judgment in going for it on 4th down (timing is everything) and appears to be for real.  Obviously he can fire the guys up like nobody else in the league but he can coach too!  I know you guys know this already, but I hadn't seen it.

Your run defense is clearly top five in the league.  I feel better about last week seeing what you did to Peterson today.

Hill to Davis looks lethal.  Hill is cagey and doesn't overreach-- a perfect fit for a defense that will keep the team in every game.

The game was yours and Favre absolutely ripped your hearts out.  He does that sometimes.  Shake it off, the division is still yours to lose and you proved a lot today.

I'm tired of heartbreakers that we should have won (ie. Cardinals)

Thanks for the respect though. That was classy.

Like i said in the postgame thread

I am tired of looking for moral victories, especially after 5+ years of ridiculous losing. But much obliged for the sentiment, especially coming from a seahawk fan who has gone through far worse than we have.

Test

This will be the first test to see how we play after a crushing lost. Plus we lost some players today. I am hoping they are healthy by Sunday. Kory Sheets might get activated?

I forsee the team taking out their frustrations on the Rams

BTW: How about Kyle Boller?

He looked better than Bulger….how bad is Bulger’s injury?

yeah, I guess I could see one thinking this was a really good enjoyable game if one were indifferent to who won or who lost …

Nolan..

sucked all of the enjoyment out of 49er football from me. I still haven’t slept.

This was the best I have seen the 49ers play in a long time. It isn’t the Dynasty 49ers, but it is badass football.

Well, we're waiting....

Hell yes

Awesome post. You are right. These guys have nothing to be ashamed of. Everyone had the Vikings +7-14 at least. Instead it was a last second stand. I got nothing but pride for my 9ers.

Since we are sharing on bad Nolan memories, here is what I wrote on the ha ha Seahawk thread

What an awful day to be Seahawk fan. There team is already crumbling for the 2nd straight season because of injuries and the front office has to unleash this monstrosity against the fan base.

There was one time as a 49ers fan I wanted to put a paper bag over my head. 2007 season when Alex Smith had crossed the bust threshold, Nolan was starting to act loony and the 49ers were in tailspin that showed the team had made zero progress in 3 years of rebuilding. To top it off, the proud red and gold franchise known for it’s legendary, regal QB’s marches a past-his-prime Trent Dilfer onto the field to toss 4-5 horrible interceptions in a couple of absolute {site decorum} kickings. The lights were never dimmer and I was never more embarrassed as 49ers fan. I imagine that is what some Seahawk fan felt today.

by bignerd on Sep 28, 2009 12:56 AM PDT reply actions

arrrrrgggghhhh!

I’m still trying to recover from today’s game.

I’ve got to get this automatic replay of the final seconds of the game out of my head (it’s currently playing in a nonstop loop right now) so I can finally get some (site decorum) sleep.

Sounds like a job for what’s left of the Jameson.

by Persiflage on Sep 28, 2009 1:10 AM PDT reply actions

If you can't get it out of your mind now..

Don’t watch the MNF game tonight. With GB-Minnesota next weeks game, you can bet they’ll all be slobing over Favre, showing that replay and gushing over the 3-0 Vikings as they constantly preview it in between gushing over JJ and his new stadium.

You gotta bring ass to get ass.

Puh-leeze

It’s Brett Favre. They’ll be using that clip up until he pulls another 80 year old muscle… and even after that too.

What? Indy vs. GB? Throw up the Brett Favre highlight reel!

You have been DFiBrillated.

Thanks

A tough one. I know I avoided sportscenter today, and wil avoid pti and ath, because im sure there will be plenty of Farve love going around.

I think the reason this one hurt so much IS because the team has looked so good so far, and up until that 3rd and 6, there wasn’t a whole lot to be upset about. I think its a good sign that we are all so pissed about a loss. It tells us we expect more of this team, and losing can no longer be shrugged off. I knew we weren’t gonna go undefeated, but this year I just cannot tell myself "just another loss anymore.

All day ive been trying to avoid “moral victory” type posts, because If we want to be a good team, we can’t be happy with those anymore. But hearing it from another team’s fan somehow made it helpful.

This one hurts, and it should hurt. But It’s a good sign that we expect the team to win now, rather than just hoping and shrugging off another L.

Heartbreaking. Things to question. But as it stands we’ve got St Louis next week, and are looking at 3-1, 3-0 in the division. I wouldve taken that if you asked me before the season.
Its not the loss really, its the heartbreaking nature of it. Personally I take blowouts alot easier, because i’ve turned it off and calmed down by the time its over. Close ones hurt the most

The Football Gods must make a new rule:

Cal and the Niners cannot lose in the same weekend.

Act all day, dance all night. Let's get it poppin'... I'm in Bombay, trick!

Cal

They deserved that loss

They played terribly, and there is absolutely no way you can play like that and win.
I was very disappointed in them.

Ugh, yeah.

The problem is that they are capable of way, way, way better. I don’t even know how to explain it.

It was a really painful weekend for football.

Oooooooooh God, it still hurts!

Kevin Riley << Ayoob?

(More accurately: Kevin Riley + Bad Defense << Oregon, but that doesn’t have the same biting sting to it)

Context, people. More context is good. Less context is bad. If you're willing to be reductive, then you're willing to be wrong.

Sorry guys

I’m a duck fan. I was born in San Jose. But I’ve lived in OR for 20yrs.
I’m not that crazy about the ducks. However, I believe that not liking the Niners is some sort of medical or mental condition.

Monday Night

I watched the Cowboy Panther game last night.
Favre’s face was plastered everywhere. And to make matters worse; the Cowboys won.
I feel straight-up sick. I know how you all feel. And I feel real bad for the Niners. Instead of seeing our Niners on the highlights we see Favre’s worn out mug.
And the dude at the pizza place pissed me off as well. “Oh man that was the play.” I wanted to rifle a piece of greasy chicken at him.
Ok. I just had to vent. The Niners will rebound against the Rams. We are still lookin good.
