Losing to the Vikings is the best thing to ever have happened....
Anybody see Brett Favre celebrating? Anybody see the Minnesota vikings team celebrating? Anybody see the fans in the stands dancing in glory? Now the game is over and the 49ers are leaving the field with there heads down and one man says to that he doesnt want to see anybodys head looking at the floor! He says "You didn't steal nothing! You didn't do anything wrong! We will see them again! In the playoffs! Hold your heads up! Don't you look down at the floor for nobody! You have nothing to be looking down at the floor about! Pick your heads up, put your shoulders back and let's rock!"
Ladies and gentleman we have a head coach. Father Singletary is doing exactly what he set out to do with this team and we are all becoming men with him. Player or fan we all get motivated by his words of encouragement. Anybody see Shaun Hill throw that touchdown pass? Then he goes to the sidelines and gets some compliments from Singletary and a pat from the back, walks away a little and gives Singletary a hug. I don't know if I should or not but i teared up a little bit. It was beautiful and Shaun Hill is doing an excellent job.
Before the game I told myself that if we play them close and its a good game, I will be happy. Win or lose. But losing hurts so much. I was really angry that we played so hard and lost that game by a miracle play. But as I read the San Francisco Chronicles website about what Singletary said, it reminded me that we did play them close and it was a good game. Things like this happens to teams who are destined to be a champion. Singletary is a story that deserves to have a good ending if not this year, maybe sometime in the near future.
But, games like this could ruin the season. Anybody remember a few years back when one play ruined our whole season. All Cedrick Wilson had to do was run out of bounds, that all he had to do. And every loss after that it reminded me of that one play that I believe ruined that season and the next 3 years of the 49ers. Singletary will not let that happen. Atleast I hope not.
So 49er fans, You didn't do anything wrong! We will see them again! In the playoffs! Hold your heads up! Don't you look down at the floor for nobody! You have nothing to be looking down at the floor about! Pick your heads up, put your shoulders back and let's rock!

How bout a literal war on the gridiron to make that call?
In February at a place called Miami, perhaps?

speaking of Rex Ryan
He was interviewed on SNF and they called him arrogant on national TV.
Not only that, he actually agreed….
I do wonder how they’ll do after a loss, he doesn’t seem to have Singletary’s motivational skills….he’s got his team drinking the Kool-Aid right now.

Congrats on a good game
I was there, and the 49ers never gave up, appeared to have faith in their game plan, and played with passion and intensity. The truth of this game, for me, is that this is about as good a football game as you can hope for, and at the end somebody has to lose. The rest of the NFC better take notice, though. Either of these two teams proved, at least to me, that they can put a beatdown on anybody at any time.

You were there?
Were you one of the [site decorum]s that cheered when Frank Gore was cared off the field?

When fans cheer for someone being carried off the field...
it isn’t because they are happy he is hurt. It’s because they are glad he is OK.
It’s unfortunate that Gore was injured. 9ers played a great tough game and Gore would have made it that much better. I was hoping to see how the Vikes D would do (at home) against a quality RB after coming off of two games where they didn’t look anything like the #1 rush defense of last year.

uh-huh
Example of when fans cheer (rightfully) when a player is carted off the field:
In the playoffs last season, Willis McGahee was hit really badly by a Steelers player, he was down for a LONG time and when they were finally saw that he was OK, all the fans cheered.
Obviously Frank Gore wasn’t seriously hurt (he walked off the field by himself), I’m sure the fans knew he was OK, I believe they cheered when they took him to the locker room, not when he limped off the field.

I've been to a dozen or so Vikings home games...
and I’ve never once heard the crowd cheer in that manner.
Also there could be a dozen or so other things going on at the same time that the crowd is cheering for. During timeouts, between quarters, half-time, etc., there are members of the Vikings fan club running up and down the sidelines throwing goodies to the section of crowd that cheers the loudest. This is something that you wouldn’t see on TV but could probably hear.

Ninersnation
Had a member at the game and she said the MIN fans cheered when Gore was escorted to the locker room.
Don’t make excuses, just accept the fact that a lot (not all, however) of your fellow fans are douchebags.

I’m of the school of thought that a loss is never beneficial. We’ll see though.

Assuming that they weren't going to go 16-0
I’d rather have a loss like that than one where they get pushed around the field and lose by 30.
That’s just me.

I still see Bly barely dropping that INT with less than 2 min left
Woulda been an INT-TD, 31-20 lead and ball game. Oh well. This is better than the double digit losses we’ve suffered the past few years when trying to make a road statement.

Should have, would have, could have
Look to the future! :D
We have a lot of great football yet to play! And thank goodness! This will energize us past just Singletarys words! Although they be potent words, they can’t sustain forever. But this feeling? This feeling will endure till the playoffs.
I hated this game. But because I hate it, its going to make every other game that much better!

The niners lost the game on a last second play to a team who many experts have said to be the favorite in the NFC. The niners took it to the Vikings on their turf, I was pretty upset at the loss, especially from Favre, but after a few hours, I realized that the niners have turned over that new leaf. Hill and Davis shined, the defense played awesome all game. I think that lots of people saw this game and realized that the niners are for real! I’m truly curious to how they respond from this, how will the bounce-back game be? It’s gonna be interesting, but I’m definitely excited!
Go Niners!!!!

Technically, it wasn’t a last second play.
Like most, I’m as happy with this loss as I have maybe ever been with a loss… but I think that as many good things as we saw, there were some fairly alarming signs, too.
Shaun Hill’s fumble and interception both gave me fits, and the coaching staff’s conservative turn at the end of the game turned a guaranteed win into a game where the Vikings had a shred of a chance. Playing for a punt when the Vikings have three timeouts was serious weaksauce, and does not speak highly of how the coaches feel about Hill. And then going into what was essentially a prevent package that allowed the Vikings to march down the field left a very bad taste in my mouth.
If that’s how we’re going to put our claws to the other teams’ throats the rest of the year, we’re not going to be winning games against elite teams.
However, the first 58 minutes – by and large – were awesome. I could quibble over some things that happened in the first half (and, like I said, Shaun Hill’s not protecting the ball again is a serious problem), but I don’t want to seem like a total grouch.

I'd say losing was a good lesson if...
If we lost the game in the last 5 minutes of the game. But the last 2 seconds? Not acceptable. You gotta close the deal. The game is 60 minutes, not 59:58. Thats a game we should have won.

so you're saying
that playing 55 minutes and losing is better than playing for 59:58 and losing?

Obviously.
