49ers sign guard Drew Radovich to practice squad
Well, for folks thinking the last practice squad spot was for when the 49ers sign Crabtree and demote somebody, that theory can go out the window. The 49ers announced today that they have added 24-year old guard Drew Radovich to the practice squad. Radovich (6-5, 305) spent the 2008 season with the Minnesota Vikings. He was inactive for the first six games of 2008, and was placed on Injured Reserve on October 13.
I couldn't find a scouting report on Radovich, but what I did find was that he was a guard at USC who dislocated his shoulder last year. He was relatively low on the Vikings depth chart.

2008 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:
person
Drew Radovich, OL, USC
Radovich is a very consistent blocker. He started for two seasons at left guard for the Trojans of Southern California. Radovich earned honorable mention All Pac-10. Radovich does a good job at getting to the second level when blocking. He does struggle against quick hitting defensive tackles, but does very well when chipping and making it to block a linebacker. Radovich had 88 “knock-down” blocks while at Southern Cal and he was an excellent pass blocker, surrendering only 4.5 sacks on 460 pass plays. He shows good footwork and uses his hands well to keep defenders away from his body. Radovich grades out as a third to fourth round prospect and he will likely go to a team looking to add depth on the offensive line and could contribute very early in his career on special teams ( also could develop into an every down player after a few years in the league). Radovich played very well at Senior Bowl practice against very high level competition. Radovich has not received as much press as linemates Sam Baker or Chilo Rachal, but will develop into a contributor for whichever team that drafts him.

Drew Radovich (continued)
Looks like another “physical with an F” type lineman, perhaps on the recommendation of Chilo Rachal? He seems to be a guard, not a tackle. Can anyone say David Baas, overpriced next year (his contract year), and injury prone in the same sentence?

Boo?
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

What I like is that he is a USC lineman. They put out some good playes like our own Chilo Rachal
Give him some time to work with the others in practice and he could be on the 53 man next season.

Radovich
Undersized at 301 for a guard—-needs to gain 25 pounds of muscle to look like a OL in Singletary’s scheme.

have a radish instead of a crab
Sigh. Pro football’s a bitch. Would be kind of cool to see a poser sit out and lose all that dough though. Hmmm. Feeling better.

How about Crabs sitting out and Spurlock going All Pro and Superbowl MVP

Drew Radovich
Army All American in High School at Mission Viejo, CA
Three year starter at Southern Cal, and four national championship rings.
Started at O. guard and O. tackle as needed by team. Could play center too.
Very versatile.
Very intelligent. He understands leverage and how to use it and he does employ it.
He’s a winner.
