Now that our season is over and we don't play a 17th game, AGAIN, do we need to ponder, AGAIN, is Alex our man? To his credit, we did muster an 8-8 record this year which is a step forward from last year. Sadly, the defense is one responsible for this year's improvement. We had no "O" this season, even though we have major weapons in Gore. Davis and Crabtree. Gore and Davis had awesome years and had Crabtree played the whole year, he would have had a better rookie year than Jerry Rice had when he was a rookie.
We may need to look at other options QB. I have some reservations about whether Alex Smith is the guy. Granted, he's come a long way, going through all the offensive coordinators and all, but if he was the guy, he should have been able to prove that this year. At least we could have come away this year knowing he WILL be the guy to take us back to the Promised Land. The question still remains.
A case has been made for and against Vick coming to SF. What about Colt? Not McCoy but Brennan, Washington's backup from Hawaii? We could get him without giving up anything. He's intelligent and deadly accurate. What I found very interesting about him was that he possesses the QB mantra that not all have. The electricity is noticeable in the way the offense responds when he is in the game. You just know that the offense will move the ball down the field on every possession. Sure he may have been a "system" quarterback coming out of Hawaii under June Jones, but what about Alex? Brennan absolutely lit it up at Hawaii, so he is capable. The kid is a winner and someday soon he's going to get his chance in the NFL. I would like to see it happen in Frisco.
