The 49ers find themselves down yet another kicker, as Ricky Schmitt, the man who replaced Joe Nedney, injured his groin and won't be able to kick tomorrow. The new kicker is Shane Andrus, formerly of the Bucs and Colts. Andrus has attempted and missed one field goal in his career, and is 6/6 in extra point attempts. This is sort of becoming the kicking version of the 2007 season when Alex Smith went down and the 49ers rolled out Chris Weinke at one point. Of course, given that tomorrow's game borders on the meaningless, this is not too big a deal.

If they win, this will be the first season in years that they dont have a losing record. I think that is very important and is far from borderline meaningless.
Per Barrows Last Call for Arnaz Battle?
Battle turns 30 in February and he drew some interest before the trade deadline this season. Battle says he wants to play another three or four years.
Umm, why didn’t we trade him? The 49ers have clearly displayed no interested in using him since Crabtree signed so why didn’t they take the best deal on the table? I’m not expecting a huge return seeing Battle would be a tryout at 3rd WR for a team but something is always better than nothing.
