the most heartbreaking and exciting finishes you actually wintnessed as a 49er fan
Whats up NN? I was just curious as to which game during your time as a fan ruffled your feathers the most? Also which game had you on your heels to the point you just couldn't watch the game no longer? I'll start with my experiences. I'm young so I didn't get to experience the catch as it happened So I can't claim that. Although I did witness the catch Greg Lewis caught inches in front of mark roman, as Brett Favre evaded Justin smith and darted a bullet a mili-sec before Manny Lawson could bat it down. Heart-breaking right? well yea, But I guess considering I'm 20 now I probably Took it it a bit better. I forgot which year it was but we played the Chiefs, and they busted us 49-7. I wanted to die! It had no significance to the season, But I think that lost hurt me the worst. The most exciting game I've experience was the 49ers vs Packers game when Steve Young Almost botched The snap only to stumble, regain his balance, and heave a pass into Owens' suspect hands in between defenders at the end of the game. I never went through so many emotions in such a short period. while I'm asking questions I would also like to know which game lead to the most misleading season? i Think it was the season when we busted Chicago up in the season opener 49 to 7 Only to go 7-9 I thought we were back but hey I'm a fan that's every year right?

nice post
I def think “the catch” was very exciting but im 20 also and I was so young when it happened that I cant really remember how I felt. As far as I can remember the 2001 playoffs when we came back against the G men from 24 points was the most exciting game as a niners fan…….im not even gonna lie i almost shed a tear when we went down 17pts lol….i even turned the tv off…..then something made me turn it back on and when I did the Garcia to TO show had jus started……i probably remember it so well because that was our last playoff berth…..goodtimes
math... are you really only 20?

“The Catch” happened in January ‘82… I’m guessing you were born in ‘89 or ’90. Makes sense you can’t really remember how you felt.
As for most exciting games of those listed: Young to Owens; Most excruciating/heartbreaking games of the last 20 years or so: How about the very next week, when we lost @ ATL and Hearst went down on the first play. Or maybe any of the many playoff losses to the Cowboys or Packers in the mid ’90’s.
Honorable mention in heartbreaking games: a Monday night game in AZ in 1999, Aeneas Williams ending Steve Young’s career.
Chris Cohan- YOU'RE FIRED!
Well
That Young to Owens pass is labeled “the Catch 2” so I think that’s what he’s referring to.
Gimme 1 round!

ay me too lol
I cut the TV off and left the house. My friend called and was like are you watching the game and I was like to hell with that game and he was like we came back that was some ish lol
heartbreaking
Well other than the vikings game, it has to be a tie between last year’s monday night game against the Cardinals or this year at the Seahawks. Both games we lost it, as we had the opportunities to win it, but stupid mental errors cost us. Both those games ruined my week in general and I still am wondering if we beat the seahawks….maybe we would be playing tomorrow.
Exciting has to be the 2002 playoffs, greatest thing I have ever seen.
Hit like Berry, Score like Jerry.
That Giants game was pretty exciting for me
Only because I was watching it in a pizza parlor full of cowboy fans. They were talking so much smack when the niners were down. When we came back I was giving it right back to them. By the time the game was over me and my niner fan buddy nearly got into a fight with about ten cowboy fans. Good times.

Ah
that Giants game was a classic. Too bad Tampa Bay had to go and destroy us in the divisional round :(

The four losses from 1995-2001
to the Packers in the Divisional Playoffs were heartbreaking. They had our numbers, just like the Cowboys did earlier in the decade.
This year’s most heartbreaking loss was the Minny game—and at least part of that for me was the dredging up of old memories of the Packers beating up on us.
Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.
+1
How the heck did this not make the poll?
This has to gone down in history as one of the most exciting finishes to any game every … and it happened in the biggest game.
Very strange!!!
It is indeed very surprising that it was overlooked; much like John Taylor who caught the winning TD pass.
Was the Best!!!
I got to watch the Game at (Ch)Air Force Basic Training, Almost the enitre flight was from back east, There was like 4 of us from the Bay Area. It was fun to watch the others cry!
11-5... So I was overly Optimistic! Maybe Next year!
Heart breaker?
This year when we got Favre’d. Next to that, probabaly losing to Dallas in the ’92 Conference Championship Game 30-20.
Favorite moment: “The Catch” (the original catch). And next beating the Cowboys to go to Superbowl XXIX in ’95.
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?
Heart breaker
January 1991 NFC Championship loss to New York. Montana gets knocked out (just as Rice is breaking open deep), fake punt with only ten men on the field, Craig fumbles, Bahr makes the winning kick. I can still hear Summerall’s voice “there will be no three-peat.” So close to three consecuvtive Super Bowl wins.
Exciting? The Catch will always be the most exciting and momentous but I was too young to watch it live. So for me, Young to Owens is my personal most memorable.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
Heartbreaker and happy dance
Heartbreaker: two words, Minnesota Miracle. I was at that game, and I was just so bitter for about three weeks. And of course that’s all anybody in the football realm could talk about, so I had to relive that crap over…and over…and over…gah! Thinking about it now still makes me want to punch something.
Biggest happy dance: believe it or not, it was when we beat the Rams in St. Louis to end the 2008 season. Why? you may ask. Because we came back with 4 minutes left, and it was the first time I’d ever been to a winning Niners game! I was elated, and thinking about it now, it still puts a stupid smile on my face. This year’s victory over the Rams just wasn’t the same. It was still awesome, but last year’s was awesomer. :)
The most exciting
moment I have witnessed would have to be the Giants comeback in 2002. The most heartbreaking is a tie between the Minnesota game this year and the Monday Night game against the Cards last year. I was at the Cards game in AZ and that was such an incredible game. To lose by coming up one yard short (Darn you, Mike Martz) was disheartening.

Week 12: at Arizona Cardinals in the 07-08 season
Man the niners were terrible this season. But I remember watching this game that went into OT.
Remember Warner throwing the ball to one of the Cards’ receiver and it appeared as though the WR would have gotten a sure TD?
Yeah, well…Patrick Willis runs him down, and a few plays later, Neil Rackers misses the FG. Another three and out by the niners (sigh)…but Andy Lee pins the ball deep into Cards’ territory. And a couple plays later, Warner’s stripped and Niners recover and score the DEF TD in OT.
Man that was an exciting game lol.
