100 in 100: Gerald McCoy (14 of 100)
Gerald McCoy has been highly rated all season long. The Defensive Tackle from Oklahoma made several great plays throughout the '09 Season and the majority of the rest of his collegiate career as well.
McCoy's redshirted in '06 as a Freshman but in '07 began his campaign to be one of the better defensive tackles coming out of Oklahoma. By '08, McCoy led all defensive lineman with 30 Tackles and helped OU reach the National Championship game. This past season, McCoy dominated the opposition and if Ndamukong Suh was not coming out this year, McCoy would most likely be the first defensive tackle to come off the board.
The Senior Defensive Tackle has a few things that he will need to work on, but he still has tremendous upside. Oklahoma has produced some premier players in the NFL and McCoy will get his chance also. Coach Bob Stoops will be hard pressed in finding a player to do what McCoy did for the Sooners. Speculation has led several people to believe that McCoy is a top five pick. Most mock drafts that I have seen have McCoy going top three overall in this April's NFL Draft.
Below, we'll look at some of the highlights of McCoy's career thus far...
This video displays McCoy's ability to create constant interruption. In most cases here, you will notice that McCoy draws double-teams from the offensive line. If he can do this at the next level, he will free up his Linebackers and Defensive Ends to get in and make plays.

SUMMARY AND PROJECTIONS:
Gerald McCoy will hands down be a first round pick in the 2010 Draft. Where and when are the two questions. A majority of the mock drafts I have seen have McCoy being the 2nd pick overall to the Detroit Lions. While that is the most probable place for him to be selected, as drafts of previous years have shown, there are always a shake up or two. I personally can't see the Lions passing on McCoy but you just never know with players like Eric Berry and Russell Okung on the board as well.
Possibilities -- Lions, Bucs, Redskins, Chiefs

Drew — I learned that your last name is Kerr and in some post you mentioned living in Arizona (as I do). By any chance are you related to Steve Kerr?

If McCoy falls to the 49ers, should they take him?
DT isn’t as big a need as some other positions, but he’ld be tought to pass up. On an interesting side note, NFL.com released their first mock draft a few days ago and have the 49ers drafting Eric Berry. I’d love it if he fell to them but I just don’t see that happening.
Don't trust this guy. He lies.
At 6-4, 300lbs
is McCoy strictly a 4-3 DT or could he also play 3-4 DE?

I think that...
… they’re pretty interchangeable, though I could definitely be wrong. He probably has more value on a 4-3 team, though (as 3-4 DEs aren’t generally worth as much as 4-3 DTs, especially ones that draw double teams).
Maybe he can play in both systems.
But he’s probably more valuable as a 4-3 DT.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Knowing how the front office covets DT I wouldn’t be shocked if they traded both 1st round picks to move up and draft McCoy. Pissed but not shocked.
I think bignerd has very little faith in the FO. His comment was probably a half-serious joke (as I really don’t think he’d be surprised if the 49ers traded up).
I have half faith.
Some things the F.O. does very well, on other things its Yosemite Sam pulling the trigger while the gun is still in the holster.
