Wilfork makes it known, It's about the money!!
Would Wilfork be a better option for the 49ers at NT? Franklin had up and down seasons, and it doesn't surprise me that he all of a sudden played well this year.

Wilfork is at least 3 years older, but Franklin really put it together this year. Another year with Manusky as the D-coordinator and Sing at the helm will do good for Aubrayo. We don’t need another NT.
I speak fluent English and Arabic and have a working knowledge of Spanish. Yet a certain GrahamCrakalaka cannot distinguish me from Mike Fox. My God, the Dodgers suck.
as a matter of fact, Franklin is older than Wilfork. WIlfork is 28 and Franklin is 29, WIlfork has been a great NT for more than one season.
Not saying we need another NT in addition, I just think Wilfork would be a safer option if we are gonna spend th emoney.

I agree.
Franklin is really good to the 49ers if they franchise him AND draft a younger guy that they can try to groom to take his place (much like New England tried to do with Ron Brace last season). I mean, I wouldn’t be opposed to giving Franklin a 3-year deal, but I think his purpose is best served with a franchised 1-year tender.
If you’re going to pay top NT dollars to a player, you may as well go after the top NT.
Agree
I’m thinking of expanding on this a bit more on the front page tomorrow. The whole idea of the franchise tag, especially since the 49ers will have to deal with it with Franklin.
I'd take Wilfork
I don’t think the Patriots will franchise him—they don’t use the tag all that much.
Here’s the other interesting twist to this situation. Tom Brady’s contract expires in 2010, and in order to keep him the Pats are going to have to shell out huge money. That may factor into what they do with Wilfork.
Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.
Will Wilfork demand $100 million though?
He’s better than Albert Hanyesworth.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Haynesworth contract is like Clement's
The numbers are eye-popping but when you actually look at them it might surprise you.
His base salary this year was just $7 million. We paid Justin Smith $10 million. Haynesworth’s contract is loaded with incentives that might make him another $15 million. The killer was the guaranteed money which was $41 million which was just ridiculous.
Now if we signed Wilfork to a 5 year deal worth $10 million a year and $15-20 in guarantees I think that would be reasonable.
Franchise amount for a DT is only $7 million so a $10 million/yr deal would pay him just over 40% more than the franchise tag plus he’d still get his big money. I’d also load it up with incentives.
Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.
Wilfork's UFA no matter what
This was his 6th season.
Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.
w/o the cba deal, players lose incentives on their contracts
