2010 NFL Pro Bowl Game Thread
4:20pm PST, ESPN
Broadcasters: Mike Tirico, Jon Gruden, Ron Jaworski,
Suzy Kolber & Michele Tafoya (Field reporters).
NFC -3, O/U 58
The NFL mixed things up this year and is holding the Pro Bowl both outside of Hawaii, and also a week before the Super Bowl. The event is being held at the same site as the Super Bowl, in Miami, in what would seem to be an attempt to provide even a little bit more relevance to the game. Whether this attempt will work or not is a whole other question. I'm not really sure if the game could ever be made "relevant." Here at NN we've had some suggestions that include going with a straight skills competition rather than an All-Star game. I could certainly some value in that as it would be a nice way to mix things up.
For 49ers fans, we get a chance to see Vernon Davis catching passes from Pro Bowl-caliber quarterbacks. We get to see Andy Lee showing off his powerful leg. And what I think is the best news, Patrick Willis will not be risking injury as he'll sit out the game with a slight case of knee bursitis.
Over the last 39 games, the NFC is 20-19 and has won 4 of the past 6 games. Whatever you can get out of the game, enjoy it.

Lets see
AFC North:
Carson Palmer, Joe Flacco, Brady Quinn
AFC West
Jamarcus Russell, Kyle Orton, Matt Cassell
AFC East
Chad Henne, Trent Edwards (err . . . whoever replaced him), Mark Sanchez
AFC South
… all in the game
Wow, that is a lot of crap.
Hell, even Sanchez.

wow
vd actually tried to make a tackle on the int return…good for him
And somehow tugging a jersey is a facemask. At least have “pro bowl” caliber refs, not scrubs.

Can’t even make an accurate pass in an exhibition game with no LB’s rushing.

As long as we get a good return man
I’m happy. But Cribbs seems to be exactly the kind of guy Singletary wants.
"We want WINNERS!" - Coach Singletary
depends on his 40.
the raiders could get him. Or the seahawks because they have Carroll as their coach
Go 49ers
Hells yeah

Depends how you look at it, IMO. Is RT a first round need?
Is Guard a first round need?
NO and No. Not drafting Spiller will not be the end of the world.

RT is a 1st round need
Unless we could just trade one 1st and our second. But then we’d lose out on all the second round talent…I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
I don't have hopes about it, it won't happen, but it is what I would do.
At 17, RT is a reach in my opinion. Trading two firsts and picking up #37 is not a bad spot to pick a RT.

Then why not just trade down with one of the firsts. Get a later first or a higher second along with additional picks.
Because that is what you or someone else would do and not me.
That’s why it says IMO (In my Opinion)

Something tells me
We go offense-offense with the first two picks. Just a hunch.
Don't worry about me Thurgood, I'll be fine. The robbery is what's important now.
I'm hoping
For a lineman and CJ Spiller or one of those top defensive guys (Haden or McClain)
"We want WINNERS!" - Coach Singletary
now i know crabtree was mad 4 dropping down
in the draft on top of being arrogant also listening 2 deion,s and will the N.F.L or the NCAA tell dion 2 whos i think is cutting side deals with his agent 2 back off these high profile college athletes , but what i was getting at is does it scare anyone that we can go through that same thing with 2 num 1s niners can be frugile lol frugile with the money.??
If that happened on draft day
I would need a change of pants.

That's hard to say
He hasn’t really been given much playing time, he played very well in the second half of the 2008 season (Hill to Hill!), but was in somebody’s doghouse all year this year.

Oh, I think Hill's a better player than he's been allowed to show
but I don’t think he’s the deep threat yet that that time implies

People have had a lot of negative things to say about it
But if the ratings are higher this year than years past, the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl is here to stay.

Mighty mouse is awesome. Bay Area kid. I went to the Niners game against the Jags, there were so many people rocking the Jones-Drew jersey. He said he had to buy something like 300 tickets for that game.

they should do it like mlb does it
make it 4 something
Forget that
The MLB format is the dumbest thing ever. Guys who either didn’t play in the All-Star game or only played a couple of innings in it are either penalized or rewarded for the outcome? They should just give home-field advantage to the team with the best regular season record, like basketball and hockey.
Don't worry about me Thurgood, I'll be fine. The robbery is what's important now.

Pro Bowl recap
I missed the game.
Anyone going to make a 49ers biased summary?
Thanks
Looks like VD had a long catch and Gore had a few touches. Plus J.Smith got a sack!
summary
Honestly, throw in two Andy Lee punts (45-yard average) and you’ve covered it. I missed most of the game, but Maiocco watched it all the way through (for the first time he admits). He has a recap of each quarter at his site.

Thanks
thats exactly what I was looking for.
Although that was more info than I expected. That was a pretty detailed summary by Maiocco.
Too bad Gore didn’t pick up that 4th down.
I’m glad nobody got injured.
