49ers sign four players to future contracts

The 49ers announced that they've signed four of their practice squad players to future contracts.  These players are OT Alex Boone, LB Martail Burnett, DT Khalif Mitchell and WR Dominique Zeigler.  All four had contracts that expired after this season.  I'll look up the details and add them but basically I think a "future contract" basically allows a team to lock up the right to that player for next season, but they still have to negotiate the specific details of a contract before then.  As we get further into the offseason we'll have plenty to discuss about each of these players and their potential future with the team come training camp in July.

Oooh yep

He returned two punts for no yards. Then maybe try him but keep him on a short leash.

But what really gets me is if they were to look at Battle’s PR avg from last year and saw 4.8 yards/return, I would think they would have immediately looked elsewhere to take on PR duties! Ironically the guy still on the team who had a decent average was Nate Clements. But I don’t know if Sing will allow him to do PR’s in light of his injury issues.

Yeah....

it was the Miami game when they had injuries and he was the only option, he pretty much cost us the game with horrible field position because of the wonderful fair catching inside the 10 yard line

Let's Hope that Boone

Is way better than Turnstile Snyder and will be a starter for years to come!

I think he could be a LOT better

Boone’s maturity off the field just has to improve, but that looks like it’s already happening. He appears to have incredible potential. Here’s what scout.com says about him:

Boone could’ve been gone after this year and would’ve been a top 50 pick, and now he’s almost certain to go in the first round. The 6-8, 325-pound star of the line has the the feet to stay with the speed defenders and the size to dominate in the ground game.

Obviously the only reason why he didn’t go in the first round was because of his brushes with the law. But if he’s got his head together, put him on one side and Staley (if he stays healthy) on the other, and we have a pretty formidable line.

Still happening

He’s an OLman but I don’t know what position.

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.
