BCS National Championship Game Thread
Well...we're finally here folks. One game--one winner crowned National Champions for the 2009-2010 Season. Either way this contest goes, I can imagine that we are in for an action packed game tonight. Both teams have fought hard to get to this point and even though there is a spread on the game, I would find myself hard pressed to bet on either team. This game will feature the best-of-the-best on both sides of the ball on offense and defense. For once, I agree with the bowl selection process for the final game and believe that these two teams are the best two in the Nation and deserve to be here.
Both teams are very strong on defense and both have scored quite a bit when the offense doesn't have the ball. We have a Heisman winner in Mark Ingram and a tough offensive line in Alabama going against arguably the best front seven in the land in Texas. These players will be playing every down like it is their last tonight, and for some it will be which should make for a sensational game.
Texas finished the year with a perfect record of (13-0, 8-0) while Alabama finished perfectly as well with a mirroring record of (13-0, 8-0). Texas won a close-hard-fought game against Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship game. Ndamukong Suh almost single-handedly destroyed Texas' Offensive Line. The Longhorns will need to hold fast against Alabama's blitzing defense. While Terrence Cody is no Ndamukong Suh, he can still wreak havoc in smashing offensive linemen in to running lanes; the linebackers for Alabama are some of the best blitzing linebackers in the nation and the combination of those two elements will spell trouble for McCoy and the Horns. Alabama totally destroyed Florida in the SEC Championship and made Tim Tebow cry (sorry, had to get that in there). I suspect that this game won't be a shootout but will create just as much energy as one.
Below, I will list the starting line-ups for tonight's game. I will mark some of the key players to watch with and asterisk so that we can follow some of these pro prospects a bit better. First we will look at the Big 12 Champion Texas Longhorns followed up by the SEC Champion Alabama Crimson Tide.

Can’t stand the Longhorns
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?
Roll Tide!
in substitution of BOOMER SOONER!

Maybe
I know I love college football and I hate Texas…so maybe I have more incentive to watch it

Probably going to be a defensive battle
other than that, there are alot of pro prospects in this game
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?
The 49ers have about 4 guys that are really on the radar and the only one that might be there is Earl Thomas.
Outside of that, the pro prospects at least for the 49ers is at min in this game.
There are some offensive linemen and cornerbacks as well. Defensive linemen, etc… there is alot more than just Earl Thomas that we should be looking at. Particularly for the later rounds
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?
Mike Johnson
is a very highly regarded Offensive Guard for the Crimson Tide, he may be worthy of watching as well
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?
The 49ers problem has been really simple.
We need a Tackle. We need a right tackle as Staley does a fine job protecting Smith’s blind side.
You obviously have watched very closely
Baas is fucking horrible too
Gimme 1 round!

I never said he was good
But our OT is a bigger problem as that is where the majority of the pass rush comes from.
He significantly improved his run-blocking near the end of the season though...
I liked his performance since the (second) Arizona game.

Baas does a great job run blocking
Gets overpowered in pass blocking though. If we had a good RT that could shift to help out Rachal then Heitmann could shift over to help out Baas.
Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.
Heitman
Contantly had to try to help Baas AND Rachal.
Poor guy.

How long till Mt. Cody flings Colt McCoy 50 yards accross the field?

It's probably going to be more the LB blitzes that do it to him
Arenas will get at least one pick out of this game

Mack Brown isn't a whiner...
Tim Tebow is a whiner. Just because Brown didn’t lobby other coaches in the coaching poll, doesn’t mean that Texas didn’t deserve to go to battle Florida. We just have class, unlike Stoops.
Brown
I’m still complaining about his whining to get in the Rose Bowl over Cal a few years back.

Arenas, Jacoby Ford, Holliday, Gilyard. Not one of them is worth a 2nd rounder. Gilyard is closest and he can probably be had in the 3rd too

He had a bum anke for 4 games….he will be fine. You’re going to eat your words pretty hard when he is considered for rookie of the year next year and one of the best RB’s in the NFL. Talk all the trash you want now, cause you wont be able to here soon.
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?

Work?
He is ready now. He was ready last year. If you’re talking about that pad level thing that is so minor I can’t even count that; it’s not as bad as you lead on. I showed the vids side by side of Johnson and Spiller and there is an uncanny comparison. I totally disagree with anyone that doesn’t think he will be special at the next level and I will defend it relentlessly
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?

He is the best blocking RB on that team including the FB. I just have a hard time debating with people who maybe caught one game of his and a few highlights on youtube. I watched the kid all year for every game. It’s almost exhausting even trying to convince anyone. Guess we’ll just have to make a huge batch of crow soup for everyone to eat next year.

Turf Toe
Turf toe can heal you know? He had developed symptoms the 4th to last game and it bothered him for those set of games. But in his bowl game he looked fine. It was real minor.
I had turf toe my sophomore year in high school playing on the JV football team. The following year I played Varsity and the year after….I played college baseball and never had another problem with it again.
Spiller is going to have how many months for it to heal? Enough is the answer to that question. I don’t even flinch at the turf toe argument. He will be fine and 100% going in as a rookie
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?
Spiller
I wouldn’t spend a 1a. on Spiller but I would definitely consider him for the 1b. He’s electric and can break a game open. Score from anywhere on the field etc. With our offense, it sure would not hurt
Tim Tebow = 1,432,219 season tickets next year. Who wouldn't pick him in the 1st round with those projections?

Not really
Thats more than likely Tebow. I’m just trolling you all on the Ingram tip. I really have nothing against him other than he’s on the tide. I do hate Tebow though cause I think his entire personality is fake as hell.

The only crime in this game was Bama made the contest look close
Down 18 points to an SEC defense is like a mouse escaping the python’s death squeeze.

I don't know how long you've been around here.
But this is the first time I have ever behaved myself like such a douche.
I just don’t like Colt McCoy and will continue to belittle him until he fizzles out in the NFL.
Everyone over-hypes him, someone has to keep it real.

Keeping it real...
Would be saying that you don’t think he’s as good as advertised. That you don’t think his arm is strong enough. That you don’t think he gets out of the pocket quickly enough. Things like that. Seeming to celebrate a very serious injury, even to a QB you don’t like, is to reach a depth even Iggels fans struggle to reach.
I'm not celebrating his injury
I’m pissed that he got hurt because I wanted to knock on him all day.

Have to be careful in that situation...
You don’t want to end up exacerbating whatever might have happened to the arm.
He will be fine
and he’ll still probn be a 2nd rounder. Maybe a late 1st
