Pro Football Hall of Fame names 17 finalists
This has been making the rounds, so I figured I'd post it as well. The Pro Football Hall of Fame has narrowed down the eligible candidates for the 2010 class to 17 finalists. Among the finalists are five ex-49ers, including WR Jerry Rice, RB Roger Craig, DE/OLB Charles Haley, LB Rickey Jackson, and DE Richard Dent.
Rice is obviously not a shocker, but this group is also notable because it's the first time Roger Craig has made it to the finalist stage in his 12 years of eligibility. As 49ers fans know, he was the kind of all-purpose rushing/receiving back emulated by the likes of Marshall Faulk and Ladanian Tomlinson. His rushing numbers alone are certainly not enough to get him into the Hall. But when you factor in his all-around game, he is certainly worthy of entry into the Hall of Fame.
The other finalists are after the jump.
Tim Brown - Wide Receiver/Kick Returner
Cris Carter - Wide Receiver
Don Coryell - Coach
Dermonti Dawson - Center
Russ Grimm - Guard
Cortez Kennedy - Defensive Tackle
Dick LeBeau* - Cornerback
Floyd Little* - Running Back
John Randle - Defensive Tackle
Andre Reed - Wide Receiver
Shannon Sharpe - Tight End
Emmitt Smith - Running Back
*=Senior Nominees

All are GREAT players however not all will make it this year.
Here is my best guess as to who will make it.
WR Jerry Rice,
DE Richard Dent.
Emmitt Smith – Running Back
Russ Grimm – Guard
RB Roger Craig
These are my choices for this year
Jerry Rice
Tim Brown
Cris Carter
Shannon Sharpe
John Randle
Emmitt Smith
Art Monk getting in last year really set the bar for the next 3 to get in.
i doubt they elect jerry rice in

He should make it this year…. If not we should form a lynching mob go after the dirty SOB’s that voted against him…

sarcasm?
I’m assuming he’s being sarcastic. If not? Well, I’d prefer to not think about that.

I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm
there’s no way Rice misses the Hall on the first ballot. He and Emmit are surefire first ballot HOFers
Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will get picked in the first round.
Well..
If he was on drugs and made a comment like that, I think the drugs would pretty darn good.
Well, we're waiting....
I dont know...........
its been almost 6 hours, and he still hasn’t said he’s joking………..

The decade of brilliance is entering the Hall!
Rice is a first ballot no doubter. End of story.
Dent is a very interesting one. I believe he has the clout to make it in first try.
Craig is kinda on the fence. I’d like to see him in though. He was the ground game for much of the dynasty. He had great hands and was as good as any wide receiver of his day. He may not make it on the first ballot, but eventually I believe he will get in.
It is my personal opinion that when Rice enters, he should be the only one that year. Rice is arguably the greatest football player of all time. He was G before G was cool! He helped Montana and Young to get cast in bronze. He helped 2 QB’s get into the Hall!
Montana, I believe would have gotten in no matter what, but Steve might not have gotten in so quickly without Rice. RICE-A-Roni, the San Francisco TREAT! I say he should have his own induction ceremony and call it “Rice Day” at Canton. In my mind, Jerry Rice is the greatest football player EVER! I might be a bit biased, but he was great!
MAN! I loved watching Rice catch those passes over the middle and take them to the HOUSE! He was uncoverable! And Montana would go to him time and time again, and the other team just couldn’t stop it. Montana to Rice! They knew each others game so well, they knew what the other would do before it happened. Rice would always come back if Joe was in trouble and get a first down every time! The two of them would just crush the defenses will with their ability to hook up like MAGIC! Rice would have been their sooner if he had not tried to extend his career. No telling why he wanted to keep playing. He had already cemented his spot in Canton when he left the Niners. But no matter, he will enter the Hall as A NINER, and he will forever be enshrined in Canton. Exactly where he belongs! The Glorious ending to the Magical career of a kid from Tennessee Valley State!
Another year, another chance to hope for the team !!
