Chiefs DE Shaun Smith Fined $10,000 For Inappropriate Touching Of Anthony Davis
For those who missed it, Anthony Davis received a personal foul last week for punching Chiefs defensive lineman Shaun Smith after a play was over. Davis said Smith grabbed him in the groin. Well, looks like the NFL agrees. The league has fined Smith $10,000 for his conduct. For those that missed it, here's some video.

Chiefs D. Coordinator was like, “C’mon guys, we need turnovers. Hands on balls guys. That’s the key!”
And Shaun was like, “Well… I guess… if you really think that will help us win games.”
This dude is weird
He takes “having a good grasp of the game” to a new level.
In an Ideal world, I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching.
Didn't Alex Mack just have the same thing happen to him?

Yes... Alex Mack said the same dude did that to him
I knew something was up when the chiefs coaching staff took him off the field right after that. They knew he was up to no good as well.

That should be a 4 game suspension!
That’s sexual harassment! Not just a $10,000 fine! Whenever a football player sexually harasses someone off the field, they’ve been deemed to violate the league’s conduct policy and get benched for 4 games. But when a football player sexually harasses someone ON the football field, it’s just a $10,000 fine! DOUBLE STANDARD! I DEMAND AN INQUIRY!

Nah...
They were just playing rough. It’s just that when you play rough like that in public, other people get scared. The refs just didn’t understand that Smith likes being punched while servicing his partner.

I have a pretty big problem with this
We were driving, down 10-3 to open the 3rd quarter. Smith’s actions had serious impact on that drive, and potentially the game. Yet his only punishment is a $10K fine. What’s he make in a year? 63 times that. So… not that big of a deal to the guy. He helped his team to victory. I bet he’d take a $10K fine every week if he could have such an impact on the game every week. He should be suspended, especially in light of the accusation of Alex Mack from the previous week. I bet there are high school kids out there that will try this same crap next week.

I agree
an owner/gm could give players incentives in their contract if they make potentially game changing “plays”. Let’s say that a team is driving down the field with the game on the line and a couple of minutes on the clock, a player could do that and make the offensive lineman react like that and make them lose 15 yards and change the game significantly.
Go 49ers
What if the refs had seen this during the game?
I’m guessing it would have been 15 yards for the niners, so we would have 1st and 10 on KC’s 35 only down by 7 points. Plus Smith should have been ejected from the game. Huge call.
If my wife was fined $10,000 ...
… every time she touched me in the groin, she would, after 10 years of marriage, owe the NFL around $10,000.

If my girlfriend were fined....
She’d owe a million dollars weekly…Seriously….
100 times a week, huh? It can’t be fun by this point.

This was seriously a huge play
The score was 3-10. First drive of the second half. here is the play by play:
1st and 10 at SF 35 A.Smith sacked at SF 30 for -5 yards (T.Hali).
2nd and 15 at SF 30 A.Smith pass incomplete short right to V.Davis.
3rd and 15 at SF 30 (Shotgun) A.Smith pass deep right to D.Zeigler ran ob at SF 49 for 19 yards.
1st and 10 at SF 49 F.Gore right tackle to KC 48 for 3 yards (M.Vrabel). PENALTY on SF-A.Davis, Unnecessary Roughness, 15 yards, enforced at KC 48.
2nd and 22 at SF 37 F.Gore up the middle to SF 42 for 5 yards (J.Belcher; B.Carr).
3rd and 17 at SF 42 (Shotgun) A.Smith pass incomplete short right to M.Crabtree (T.Daniels).
4th and 17 at SF 42 A.Lee punts 58 yards to end zone, Center-B.Jennings, Touchback.
If that penalty doesn’t happen who knows where the game goes? Also that touch probably got into Davis’s head.
I think Shaun Smith is officially one of my most hated players now.
2nd and 22 Gore up the middle!
man I’m glad Raye is gone
I don’t think that at all… and of course this is all speculation on your behalf

The ONE good thing from this...
Is the NFL knows he’s pulled this crap twice, with video of the second offense. I expect officials to be paying a little more attention to the A-hole now. Too late for us, but karma is a bitch.

I can see the humor in this
but really, I think it’s disgusting and I’m glad the NFL took notice. If it happens again I say send him to some sort of psychological counseling. Also, I hope his parents are proud that their son is now famous for grabbing other guys packages.

Damn! Caught us...
Next week we poke ’em in the “brown-eye” with a “finger”.
News flash: Chiefs owner Clark Hunt is now in serious negotiations to relocate the Chiefs to Palm Springs. They will then been renamed the “Qweef’s”

Yea.
As a Chiefs fan, I don’t even know what to think about this it is so absurd. I would have loved to hear what our coaches said to him about the incident.
Chiefs Fan here too...
I am not sure if anyone else caught it, but right after the play Coach Haley took Shaun “The Nutcracker” Smith out of the game, and proceeded to give him an earfull of ‘something’ (and somehow I doubt Todd is telling the “Sac-Master” how proud of him he is).
While I am all for our team feilding a ‘nasty’ Defense, this is not the ‘nasty’ I had in mind. I am glad the NFL fined Smith and I hope they keep a close eye on him.
I am glad your man Davis got his kidney shot in on Smith even if it resulted in a flag for the 49ers (sent the message “I ain’t taking your sh!t”). I think all things considered, Davis did the best he could with the situation he was put in. Give this kid some time and he could be a big part of your team (in a good way).
